Nick (00:02.426)
We ready?
Neil (00:03.804)
We we've been running. What do I thought you were counting us down?
Nick (00:05.412)
We we we've been ready. We back. It's the height differential. Noah's mad already. He's the one making us late and now he's upset.
Neil (00:13.47)
You got a six AM flight, my guy.
Nick (00:16.548)
But we got a good show. We're gonna talk, we're gonna talk Belmont. We'll talk a little NBA finals. A lot of sports going on. Like call college baseball, college softball, college golf. Everything's going on right now. We'll we'll get it. We'll get into all that. But I'm the 410 Nick, that's the 6'6 nil. And we have once again, because we are talking Belmont, the 5'6 Matt, to join us. Before we get started.
If you're watching live, I guess we're not live right now, but to catch this later, make sure to subscribe to the Height Differential. However, you listen to pods, rate it and leave a review. Follow us at Height Differential. I guess we're at the third leg of the Triple Crown. We've got we had 14 horses in the Preakness, and now we're getting nine in the Belmont, and not a single horse is running the Triple Crown.
Neil (01:09.31)
So we talked about this, right? Like the Belmont in the Derby, in the Prignes, how we should space it out. Like this race should be going July fourth weekend, right? Like this should be we should be talking Prickness weekend and if we were talking Prickness weekend, I think a lot of Derby horses would be in it this week. I mean, there still are in the Belmont because it is spaced out, but we'd be talking a lot better horses than we did three weeks ago.
Matt (01:20.622)
Mm-hmm.
Neil (01:39.347)
Yeah.
Nick (01:39.566)
Yeah, I think I think we've we've yeah. I mean I I think we all are in agreement. Like the first week of each month, let's move these back and let's get all these horses running three to legs and that makes the triple crown tougher.
Nick (01:55.822)
But the the fact that you have not a single horse that's running all three legs. Last year we had journalism. Was at least one horse that did it. And this year we have zero. It looked like O'Celly might do it and then ended up not running.
Matt (02:09.782)
I'm glad O'Celly's not running. He can't screw this race up like he screwed up the dirty.
Nick (02:11.834)
Yeah.
Neil (02:12.572)
Yeah, I'll say he screwed the derby up for all these horses. This this is probably the reason all these her horses are running, is because the cell is not in it.
Nick (02:19.994)
But we will go through the field like we've done the Derby and the Preakness. We will go horse by horse. Then we'll we'll give our win bets we'll give our a little try bet. And I think we voted not to do a draft just because there's only nine horses.
Nick (02:38.458)
So I guess to get it started.
In the wrong hole.
Vitruvian man, trained by Doug O'Ne, ridden by Fresu Antonio, thirty to one.
Nick (02:56.75)
Matt, you're our guest. You start us off.
Matt (03:00.782)
I feel like we talked a lot about California horses and Baffert and all that. This horse finished third in the Santa Anita Derby, nine and a half lengths behind two horses that were non-factors in the Kentucky Derby. So props for you for running in the Belmont, but people are gonna forget your name once the they get out of the gate. So complete toss. Throw in the bay, throw in the hava. Out.
Neil (03:29.222)
Yeah, I I I a hundred percent agree with Matt. Like is is like Matt mentioned, his last race he finished third in the scene. They need a Derby on April fourth. I mean, and that was behind So Happy and Patente, who finished ninth and twelfth in the Derby. So horses that didn't even compete in the Derby, basically. It's his only a second race as a three year old. I don't think he's run the distance of a mile and a quarter. usually he's a mile and a sixteenth, mile and an eighth horse. He's one for six in his career in his special
speed figures are fifteen points below the top contenders in this race. He's he's a dumpster fire. Get him out.
Nick (04:06.329)
But will he take some money because of his new ownership game?
Neil (04:13.971)
Who's that?
Nick (04:15.095)
Run Fast Racing, who just bought the horse, is a big reason why he's in this race. A partnership that includes rappers Lil Yachty, Lil Wayne,
Neil (04:17.3)
no.
Okay.
Neil (04:25.51)
god.
Nick (04:28.047)
So there's a chance that he could take some money, which I think is a good thing, because like you said, this this horse has ran once this year, lost by almost 10 links to two horses that didn't do a lot in the derby. It's a toss, but let's hope that people find out who's involved in the ownership group and and starts putting some money into.
Neil (04:29.916)
No.
Neil (04:51.902)
Little Wayne and little Yachty have no idea what direction the horses are running. Like there's no way that these guys should be hor they're just doing it just to get a cash grab and this horse ain't gonna do it for 'cause this horse sucks.
Nick (05:05.753)
Well, and seriously, like it's a big reason why this horse is in this race. Just because just got bought. He's eligible, might as well try it. But I I I th I think this horse probably has the smallest chance in the field.
Matt (05:05.784)
Mm-hmm.
Neil (05:11.678)
I guess.
Neil (05:22.781)
I would agree.
Nick (05:24.185)
We move to the two power shift trained by Todd Fletcher, written by Luis Sayez. Morning line was twelve to one. Neil, you've got your color coded sheet. What's your color coded sheet telling us?
Neil (05:35.4)
Got it right here. he it's this one is not a complete toss. I still think it's a toss, but it's not a complete toss. I mean, great trainer in Todd Pletcher. 12 to 1 odds. He broke his maiden on the undercar to Kentucky Derby at Churchill in a race that was a mile and a sixteenth. He hasn't run much. He's only three career starts, all was a three-year-old, so never races a two-year-old. in his
debut race. He finished second to emerging market at at Tampa Bay Downs and Emerging Market is in this race. So he's he's competed against some quality horses. He did finish sixth in the Tampa Bay Derby, so that's not great. but, you know, he's gonna be he's gonna be the pace setter. I mean we talked about this before we got on here. There's not a lot of pace setters in this race and he might be the only one that I know of. So he's gonna be the primary pace setter. He was going to get out quick
And maybe it bodes well for him that nobody's probably gonna put I there may be one horse that's gonna push him, so it could bode well for him. Mike Rapoli is is is the owner, he knows what he's doing. Pletcher's the trainer looking for his felt fifth Belmont win. and in the Sayez Pletcher combo, they won the twenty twenty two Belmont with Mo Donegal. So they've been together before. They know what they're doing. Not a complete toss, but I don't see it happening.
Nick (06:58.457)
So are you putting him in your tri supers?
Neil (07:02.032)
No, I'm still tossing them. But it's it's it's it's a borderline toss. It's a borderline toss.
Matt (07:08.832)
Yeah, I'm gonna toss him, but I'm kinda on the same length as Neil. He's gonna set the pace, and if it's slow enough, he could hang around till the end. But I also think that since he's owned by Ripoli Stables, are they gonna basically use him as a rabbit and fire him out there to try and get a fast pace to set up for Renegade?
Neil (07:32.882)
Renegade, yeah.
Matt (07:33.526)
That's the thing you gotta keep an eye out. If he tries to fire out, there's no chance he's gonna finish in the top three, top four. But if he just runs a normal his normal pace, he could hang on enough at the end. But I think his part in this race is to set up for Renegade. But he is a toss for me.
Nick (07:53.882)
So we've talked already about how this race has just no pace whatsoever. And I d I think this is the horse by default that's gonna be out front. And you all have already kind of talked about that a little.
He was thr just over three to one in in the Tampa Derby. So this horse has been bet. It has some talent. Like I it worries me, even if you're using him as a rabbit, could he just hang on and maybe not win, but finish in the money? And I don't think the pace is gonna collapse like it did in the Derby. It's just it's not gonna happen.
So I don't think I can leave this horse out completely. I I think I have to include him in my tries and supers. Do I think he's gonna hang on and win? No, because I just I just think there's better horses in this race. But I I think he could hang on for third or fourth.
Neil (08:53.726)
That's what I was gonna say. I that's you mean I think there's just too many other good horses in this race, and at the mile and a quarter, a lot of these horses are closers or stalkers that will eventually overtake him, I think. Just the quality of horse in this race is just better than I think he is, and that's why I think I'm tossing him.
Nick (09:12.483)
But like like I said, he was just over three to one in the Tampa Derby. So like he w finished six by a t a lot of lengths. but his his also his number is going to be pretty bettable. Because I think the one is gonna get bet because of his ownership group. I think the derby winner is gonna get bet because he won the derby. So this
Neil (09:15.484)
And he finished and what did he finish in Tampa Derby? He finished sixth.
Sixth. That's all I'm tossing.
Neil (09:36.222)
I mean, I think this horse will get bet I think this horse will get bet because of Todd Pletcher and because of Mike Ripoli.
Nick (09:41.775)
And look, if he gets down to where I mean he's what I said, twelve to one. If he gets down to where he's closer to six, seven, eight, then no. But at twelve or fifteen, then I think you take a shot on this horse.
Neil (09:52.552)
He's worth a sprinkle. He's worth a sprinkle.
Matt (09:56.268)
Yeah. Have in like the third spot of the try. Have in like my third spot of the try, just just to have there.
Nick (09:57.006)
The three do what?
Nick (10:02.243)
Yeah. The three Chief Wallaby trained by Bill Mott, ridden by junior Alvarado. Three to one on the morning line. Matt, we'll we'll let you go on this one.
Matt (10:15.054)
I mean, you guys know I'm a big Chief Wallaby guy. He was my horse heading into the Derby. And if it wasn't for O'Celly, we could be talking about something different here. The only thing that worries me right now is the price. Like, is he a good enough horse? Absolutely. But is he two to w so much better than Commandment?
Neil (10:17.768)
your guy.
Matt (10:35.852)
Like right now, obviously the odds are are stagnant, like they're not set yet, no one's betting on it. But you're telling me Chief Wallaby at three to one or commandment at six to one? I think there's some value on commandment.
Neil (10:47.688)
Correct.
Matt (10:47.842)
But Wallaby obviously was in the mix of the Derby, got stuck in the middle, was part of that bump with O'Celly, but he recovered well. You know, if he if that race was going on a couple more furlons, he probably would have caught up to caught up to a couple of the horses there. But I love Wallaby. He's going to be in the mix. He's definitely a win contender for me.
Neil (11:08.838)
Yeah, I would agree with Matt. I think he's definitely a win contender. I have him in my top two win contenders in this race. I mean, as we mentioned, he finished fourth in the derby. He was three links behind Golden Tempo, but it really wasn't his fault. Like, you know, his closing trip in the Derby, he got knocked off because of O'Celly just screwed everything up, knocked him and and commandment and just kind of knocked everything around in there. And so he didn't really have a clean trip down the stretch.
Like he could have had, and if he did, he probably may have won that 'cause he was right there. he and Commandment, who was my other win choice, i they've gone head to head twice, and it's been close both times. Like he've Chief Wallaby's finished he finished a half a length in the Florida Derby, behind Commandment and the Puma. Finished second by a neck in the Fountain of Youth to Commandment. he did run with blinkers in the Derby for the first time and I think it
may have helped because I think he ran a really good race except for that that where he just kind of got screwed at the end. so I I do have him. I think the smaller field the obviously the smaller field is going to be to his advantage to where he's not going to get knocked around, I think, down the stretch like he did in the Derby with that many horses. So the smaller field's going to help him. and give me the junior Alvarado Bill Mott combo. You know, they won last year with the sovereignty. So why not again? So give me Chief Wallaby as a win contender.
Nick (12:31.663)
Yeah, and malt Bill Mott also won the Belmont in twenty ten with with Drosselmeyer, so he's proven that he knows how to win this race. Obviously it's on a different track, but like you said, he won last year at at Saratoga. My Chief Wallaby, like my thing going into the Derby was the blinkers. That was the negative. Like don't add equipment before the before a big race, right? And I I still don't know if it's a if it's a positive or a negative.
Like there he there was a hole that he could have got through potentially in the Derby and he didn't take it. And you I don't know if that was Alvarado, I don't know if that was the horse just not one to do it.
Neil (13:01.788)
Rot.
Neil (13:13.01)
You think the horse didn't see it? He couldn't see it 'cause he was blind?
Nick (13:15.321)
I mean, it's no, the maybe he just doesn't want to go through it. I mean, some horses just don't want to go through smaller gaps like that. He you took my point, like he's lost the commandment twice already. The fact that he's three to one, commandment six to one. Matt, you had talked about that. Like that is the thing that stuck out to me the most on these odds is the fact that he's three to one in commandment six to one. And he's lost to him twice at
Neil (13:21.68)
Okay. yeah.
Nick (13:44.969)
I didn't bet this horse in the derby. He hasn't won a stakes race. Like I y'all take three to one. I
Neil (13:53.03)
I mean I it I I don't agree with him being that far ahead of Commandment because of the the head to head, but both head to heads have been very, very close. And I think the odds differences are coming in because Commandment finished what sixth or seventh? He finished seventh. Sameth seventh in Derby and Chief Wallaby finished fourth. So it's more of
Betters are looking at what did you do for me lately? And they looked at the Derby. And it's like, he finished fourth in Derby. Commandment finished seventh in the Derby. This horse has to be better. And they're not even looking at the races before that. So that's where your discrepancy is coming in. But both head-to-heads have been really, really damn close. He has. I know. I I that's what I as I said. I don't agree with the how far apart they are, but that's why is because betters are looking at what did you do for me in your last race? And they're looking at
Nick (14:28.121)
They have, but he's lost both times. And this isn't a twenty horse field where they're all gonna get bunched around. So
Neil (14:41.65)
He finished fourth in the biggest race of the year and this guy finished seventh.
Matt (14:46.406)
And he's right next to PowerShift. And if PowerShift is gonna be the pace, it's a perfect stalking trip. Just get right on him, follow him around. He's gonna have the best run to stalk the early pace compared to Commandment and others on the outside.
Neil (15:02.46)
Yes.
Nick (15:05.059)
In the 4-0 we have Renegade, trained by once again Todd Pletcher, written by Irad, two to one favorite on the morning line. Neil, you take this one.
Neil (15:17.926)
Yeah, I I'm I don't agree that he should be the favorite at two to one. I think two to one's way too low. he had a great trip in the derby. He basically the same kind of trip Golden Tempo had. They both came from off the pace. He's a closer just as Golden Tempo was. he just got out run down the stretch. He had a clean trip. There was no trouble for him in the Derby. There's no r excuse for him of why he couldn't have run out run Golden Tempo and he just didn't do it.
The one thing that that we thought was a negative in the Derby was he was coming from the rail. He was the one horse. But as a closer, to me, that didn't really affect him. So I don't think I don't have any excuses for why he didn't win the derby. He just got outrun. he has shown that he can win big races. He won the Arkansas Derby by four lengths. two to one's a little too low. I think he should be in the top three in odds, but he's gonna he's to me, he's not a win contender. I'm gonna put him in my try super.
Matt (16:18.558)
Yeah, I'm gonna agree with Neil. he is in my try and super because he is I respect the horse enough. I just don't think he's gonna get the trip that he needs. Now, between him and Tempo, he's gonna have the better chance of the two, 'cause I think it's the better horse and he's also gone in races where this pace hasn't completely fallen apart. But in the last twenty Belmont winners, fifteen of them have been within four lengths of the lead in the first half mile.
I don't think Renegade's gonna be there. I know there's not a lot of speed. I don't think he's gonna be that close. And closers just don't seem to do well in the Belmont. I know more of that twenty was at a mile and a half compared to what it is now, but you need to be close and I don't think Renegade's gonna be close enough to make a run to win it. So he's in my exotic category.
Nick (17:11.597)
Yeah, I I mean automatically we compare this horse to Golden Tempo because they finished the Derby so close. And if you ask me who the better horse is, Renegade i is the better horse of those two. Started from the rail and then on the turn was wider than anybody. Was wider than anybody on the turn. And still just got beat by beat at the wire. This this horse shows up every
Neil (17:25.416)
A hundred percent. Yeah.
Nick (17:40.863)
Single time. It's got Irad on it, who's a two-time Belmont Stakes winner with creator in Mo Donegal. But it two to one, I'm not betting this horse to win. Like he's two, like he's not as pace reliant as Golden Tempo. He can win even when it's just the pace doesn't completely break down, but he still needs a pretty good trip, I think, to win this race. And at two to one.
I'm not willing to bet him to win, but he I think he definitely will finish in the top three four.
Neil (18:15.036)
I agree. Yep.
Nick (18:18.381)
In the five teen ho trained by Chad Brown, ridden by Dylan Davis. This horse is a twenty to one morning line. Matt, does this horse have a chance?
Matt (18:32.43)
no. Just gonna say no. I mean finished what? Second in the bluegrass stakes, but that was basically thirteen lengths behind further ado. He was basically in Louisville.
Nick (18:35.705)
Yeah.
Matt (18:48.138)
has further ado was finishing that race. no. I you know, I'm glad he's in the field, 'cause if he wasn't we'd have an A horse field, so props for you for running, but just a toss for me. Not gonna factor in whatsoever.
Neil (19:04.082)
Yeah, no, I agree with Matt. He's he's a toss horse. I mean, I like Chad Brown. He's an experienced trainer. He's won some big races. He's got a third of the field here. He's got three ho out of the nine horses. I think this is definitely his worst of the three. you know, he he finished a distant second in his last race in the bluegrass takes the further ado. He had enough points to qualify for the Derby if he wanted to run, but they decided to skip it because I think that they knew this horse had basically no chance.
He's a closer horse, but there's a lot of closer horses in this h in this race that we just talked about with Renegade and we still have, you know, the Golden Tempo who won the Derby. So he's not going to be able to outclose them. he's well rested. He hadn't run in two months. So maybe that's a that's a plus for him. Like, you know, these other horses have run, but you know, I think a month off for a horse is enough. So
No chance for him. The only positive for him is he was sired by two thousand seventeen Horse of the Year and Breeder Cup winner, gun runner. So he has a little pedigree to him, but one win in four career starts as a closer with other closers in this race. No chance. Put him in the dumpster. Trash.
Nick (20:14.508)
Yeah, I mean all these horses have moms and dads that have won races. Right. yeah. the last three races have all been a mile and eighth. So he I mean he hasn't gone a mile and a quarter yet, but has not a lot of horses are going three races in a row at a mile and an eighth. So he clearly wants to go the distance, but lost by eleven links the last two races, including just a two hundred thousand dollar race in Aqueduct.
Neil (20:20.771)
Gun runner's impressive though.
Nick (20:45.014)
His own whim was a maiden eighty five thousand dollar. this yeah, I mean coming off the pace. There's too many horses that are coming off the pace. There's not gonna be a fast pace. This horse is a toss for.
Nick (21:01.836)
The sixth is Growth Equity, trained by another Chad Brown, written by Manny Franco. Twelve to one on the morning line. Neil, what you got?
Neil (21:13.756)
This is the the biggest mystery of this race to me. He's 12 to 1. Another Chad Brown horse, as I just talked about. He's got a third of the damn horses in the race. So he's 33% chance for Chad Brown to win. but this horse, he's not faced any of the other horses in this field before. So he's unknown against the this competition. He has won his last two races, both in New York. He won his maiden race by four and a half four and a quarter lengths on March in March on a one mile race at Aqueduct.
He won the mile and eighth Peter Pan stakes, which is an actual pretty damn good race. back on May 8th at Aqueduct. And when you look at other Peter Pan horses that have that have won that race to go on the Belmont, I mean it it it has a a a decent a decent result. So what do we have here? Belm Tonalus in 2015 and Archangelo in 2023 both won the Peter Pan and came on to win the Belmont.
He is sired by Kentucky Derby winner Nyquist, so he does have some pedigree to him. His speed figures have keep going up and up and up. And in a race like this, when there's not a huge pace setter, I mean, as we said, the two horse was that power shift, it's probably gonna be the the the early pace setter. He's gonna be right there with him. He's gonna be aggressive early, he's gonna push that. And if it's not a fast pace, this horse can stay there. I think this is to his advantage that there's not a lot of pace setters, so he's an unknown.
I put him in my tri my my guys said my tri Xacta.
Matt (22:44.716)
I think I agree that he's kind of the wild card in this.
But he's very similar to me as Taj Mahal was in the Preakness. The local prep, you know, I've run in New York, I've run I know the area, like everyone's gonna be like, well maybe this horse can do it. I just I'm tossing him. The only thing that he's got going for him in my opinion is he is a stalker and in a race that doesn't have a lot of pace he could hang around. I'm just gonna go with the fact that his races prior to this haven't been against as established as fields as this. Now
If he ran in the preakness, he'd have a better chance 'cause that field was a lot lower than this one. I just think there's too many good horses in this race, and there's enough stalkers there that will be running the same thing that he wants to run, and they're just better horses. So he's a toss for me. But intriguing toss, if that's a category.
Nick (23:36.119)
He is intriguing because he continues to improve and he and can continues to improve as he extends his distance. He's gone from six furlongs to seven furlongs to a mile to a mile and eighth, and his speed figures have improved the entire way. But I w agree a hundred percent with Matt's Taj Mahal analogy, and I am not falling for that again. This horse does not have the class.
of some of these other horses. It's Lone Stakes Race is at graded three. Peter Pan. Prior to that, he had ran an eighty thousand dollar maiden, eighty-four thousand dollar maiden, and a hundred thousand dollar maiden. And you can't include everybody. I don't think he's gonna get the lead. I think the two is going to get the lead and because of that, he's a toss for me.
Neil (24:29.63)
Why you hate on the Peter Payne?
Matt (24:31.512)
Ha ha ha.
Nick (24:33.228)
Not hating on the Peter Pan. That's the only race of class that this horse has even participated in.
Neil (24:34.716)
You hate Pane?
You hate the Peter Payne.
Matt (24:39.97)
He say he got burned by Tosh Mahal and he's letting him you know
Neil (24:43.397)
I did too. I yeah, I got a little burnt by him too.
Nick (24:47.318)
Yes, and I'm I would have won some money that day if I wouldn't have got burned by Taj Mahal. So learn my lesson here, and it will probably burn me as this horse gets a lead and wires the field. We move on to the seventh commandment, trained by Brad Cox, written by Johnny V. Morning line of six to one, which I think is intriguing. Matt, your thoughts.
Matt (25:13.442)
Yeah,
I'm intrigued too because the last time we've done our previews, the early wagering for the races has opened. It obviously has not yet for this race. I think Commandment's gonna get pretty bet down to get started, because I know people are gonna like Neil said, What have you done for me lately? Wallaby looked better in the Derby than Commandment did. They both got bumped by O'Celly. So Wallaby just responded better. But I mean, Commandment's a damn good horse.
And if you can get it at six to one, I'd sign me up all day. He is definitely a win contender for me. Obviously probably the most accomplished horse in the prep career from, you know, the start to now. Him and renegade, I'd argue in this race, probably have the best you know, best stats in their prep career. I d it's gonna be there. It's a stalker, it's gonna ha i it's gonna have a chance. I mean, I think it's up there for me as a win contender for sure.
Neil (25:48.062)
thousand.
Neil (26:14.386)
Yep, no, I would absolutely agree with Matt here. a hundred percent a win contender. He I think the six to one odds as as we mentioned is a bit what did you do for me lately and when he finished seventh in the Kentucky Derby and he was you know almost six lengths behind Golden Tempo, but it it wasn't his fault. Like I said, like auth O'Celly just kind of screwed everything up for a lot of good horses down that stretch. And so with O'Celly out in a nine horse field instead of a twenty horse field,
I think is definitely to his benefit. So if you can get him at that six to one price, that is absolutely fantastic. I'd bet him all day. Hopefully it goes higher. I'm just worried that the cause are probably gonna come in and he goes off at six to one and or suddenly crosses it first and he's two to one. he had won four races in a row prior to the derby, including the Fountain of Youth and the Florida Derby over Chief Wallaby, who's also in this race. he does have another new jockey on him. in in John Velasquez. His previous jockeys were
Nick (26:53.857)
Yeah.
Neil (27:12.018)
Flavian Pratt, who had won on him, and Ired Ortiz, who'd won on him. And Luis Sayez wrote him in the Derby, who probably screwed that up and wife was not on him again. but Velazquez is a Hall of Fame jockey. He's looking for his third Belmont win. I think Commandment is probably w one of the top two horses in this race. And if you can get him at six to one, hammer it all day.
Matt (27:34.892)
before Nick goes, New Naira is actually fighting back against the cause. They're locked they're locked out. I think they're locked out a couple of minutes before post. So I I should
Neil (27:40.784)
Okay.
Neil (27:45.458)
Perfect. So make your so so make your bets a minute to post. Two minutes to post?
Matt (27:50.572)
Yeah. Yeah, wait wait until the cause get locked out two minutes before and then you'll see who they think's gonna win. But no, I read an article, I should have had it up, I forgot about it. But Naira right now, they lock him out of the ex the windpool, they lock him out of Exacta's, then they give you a decent fair shake where they're not betting up until the gate's open or even after the gates open.
Neil (27:58.526)
All right.
Neil (28:04.37)
Good.
Neil (28:12.296)
Good. As they should.
Matt (28:14.904)
Sorry, go ahead, Nick.
Nick (28:16.152)
You're good. so obviously ran seventh in the derby. I think Brad Cox was generally pretty happy w with the way this horse ran dis with despite all the trouble that that he dealt with. And I think Brad Cox is excited that this horse is being overlooked a little bit. like both of y'all said, he came into the derby with four straight wins. I mean he he's the class of I it's why I bet this horse to win
in the Derby and you you see him go off at six to one. Now my one concern is like this is fourth jockey in four tries. And it's fifth jockey in seven tries.
So that is a concern, but you're picking up Johnny V.
You get this horse at six to one, I am running to the window. And this is this is a win contender.
Neil (29:08.84)
Hammer. Hammered.
Nick (29:16.714)
And Johnny V, I mean, dude, Hall of Famer rode rags the riches to to the a Belmont Stakes win. One one above our Union rags. So I mean it it's odd that a horse that is this has this much class is getting a fourth jockey and four tries 'cause you don't see that very often. But I just well, it's because they all have other horses. They all just went other places.
Neil (29:34.782)
So sets.
Neil (29:40.188)
This horse is better than some of those other horses. Especially the next one we're about to talk about: Emerging Market. We'll talk about him, but this horse is better than that.
Nick (29:50.083)
Well, let's go to that. The eight emerging market trained by Chad Brown, written by Flavian Pratt. Six to one, same line as commandment. What you got, Neil?
Neil (29:51.56)
Let's go.
Neil (30:02.172)
Makes no sense why they should they they these horses are not equal. And I don't know why Flavian Pratt is choosing Emerging Market over Commandment, because I think Commandment's a better horse. Emerging Market finished 10th in the Kentucky Derby in a trip where he he had no excuse. He didn't have any trouble. He just didn't want to run. Like he had no he just didn't want to do what Flavian Pratt wanted him to do. Didn't run into any trouble. Finish his tenth. It's only his fourth start, and he was the sexy pick.
the sexy underdog pick, I should say, in the Kentucky Derby. He was the unknown. He'd only run three races. He had won both of his career starts before the Derby. So everybody's jumping on him, jumping on him. Won that Louisiana Derby over Golden Tempo, who who won the Derby. But this horse didn't have anything in the Derby. Like he was he was just dead. So, I don't know. He defeated PowerShift in his first career race at Tampa Bay Downs, and Power Shift is also in this race. He had good speed numbers leading into the Derby, but
I'm off because of the derby. I'm tossing 'cause that derby just turned me off.
Matt (31:05.51)
I am still drinking the emerging market Kool-Aid. I my big negative is like what Neil said. He had the perfect trip for the Derby. He was right off of the lead, coming around the end. There was a hole for him. Flavian wanted him to go, and he did not go. So I'm probably gonna be throwing away money, but I actually have him as a win contender here.
Neil (31:09.273)
Neil (31:29.588)
Matt (31:30.27)
I have them in my wind contenders, cause our our friends over at America's Best Racing put together an article and said there are seven key historical trends to look at the Belmont and Emerging Market match six of the seven. The only horse to do so. So No, he's not. the only one he didn't was that he was not a Todd Pletcher horse.
Neil (31:46.408)
What was the one he didn't match?
He sucked in his last race.
Neil (31:58.555)
okay. All right.
Matt (31:59.306)
That was it. But it it's the it was w within four lengths of the lead, didn't last race in the Derby, skipped the preakness, won't be the favorite, won a stakes race, and then has been a
winner of a you know, a sire of a horse that's won at a mile and a quarter, which again doesn't really matter in this because it's not as long. But I'm drinking the Kool-Aid. I'm gonna put him in there 'cause I'm gonna be pissed if he figures it out. And if he decides he doesn't wanna run again, then that's fine by me. But he is he is my third win contender. I have him up there.
Neil (32:15.974)
Yeah yeah.
Nick (32:31.618)
There's talks that this horse broke too well in the derby and got him out front more than probably he wanted to be and had to exert too much energy to kind of maintain that spot in the field. and and like it took its toll on him, there's no doubt. but Pratt also said after the race that this horse lost a shoe in that race.
Neil (32:43.176)
Then slow up. Slow up.
Nick (32:57.452)
Which I think you need to take in account. This horse has talent. And there's a re like it wasn't just like people that don't know what they're doing betting on this horse to get him to eight to one in in the derby. People I I really feel like people thought that this horse was gonna surprise people. So I think you have to include this horse as a win contender in the Beaumont. I'm with Matt.
Neil (33:23.774)
As a win contender, not just a tribe. A win contender. You think he's equal to commandment at six to one?
Nick (33:28.022)
I I do.
I do not. But you didn't ask me my talk pick. So we're we're not there yet, but no.
Neil (33:35.846)
I didn't say that, but they're the same odds. I was just wondering at the same odds if you think they're equal.
Nick (33:42.59)
I I think commandment will pri likely go off closer to four to one and I think this horse will go off around six to seven to one.
Nick (33:53.73)
Now we'll see what happens, but
The final horse of the field, your Derby winner, Golden Tempo. Y'all want to say the trainer's name so I don't screw it up?
Neil (34:04.926)
Cherie.
Nick (34:05.88)
Cherine DeVaux, written by Jose Ortiz, 9-2. I didn't screw it up, y'all are just idiots. 9-2 on the morning line. Mac, wrap us up.
Neil (34:09.159)
Not cherries.
Matt (34:19.874)
I unfortunately have I am tossing the Derby winner. I'm tossing the derby winner. Again, great horse, great story.
It doesn't have the pace, it doesn't set up well for Tempo. Tempo needs the pace to fall apart, whereas Renegade doesn't necessarily need to, and it's this race will not have a pace fall apart. Tempo will be closer than it was in the Derby. It won't be as far off. I just don't think there's going to be enough of a pace breakdown for it to make a difference. I'm not I I will say Tempo doesn't finish in the top four. Put that, bring that to the bank right now.
Neil (34:57.608)
Yep, nope, I'm I'm agreeing with Matt. I don't think he finishes the top four either. I am tossing Golden Tempo. He had a a fluke. I mean, it was a hell of a run he did in the Kentucky Derby. But I think it was a fluke. he was a 23-1 long shot in the Derby for a reason. Nobody believed in him. He there's no reason that anybody should have believed in him. Finished third.
to emerging market in Louisiana Derby and emerging market we just talked about and he also finished third in the Risen Star stakes before that. I mean the outside post in number nine, I mean there's only nine horses, so it's not that big a deal. He's gonna come from behind the pace anyway, so don't worry about being him being the outside hor the outside post. But I think he just had a a perfect trip because others got into trouble because of Os O'Celly again just screwed everything up.
I think there's way better horses in this race that aren't going to falter down the stretch. I'm with Matt. He's not finishing in the top four.
Nick (35:57.262)
But the fact that you're tossing this horse and you're not tossing growth equity is insane. Just let me say that.
Neil (36:05.916)
Why? Growth equity is gonna be way out he's he's gonna be up front. The golden tempo is gonna come from 30 links behind, and growth equity is gonna come from four links behind. So yes, I think growth equity has a better chance of winning than golden tempo.
Nick (36:09.399)
Well first off, do I think those
Do I think?
Golden tempo.
Nick (36:20.715)
Had a perfect trip in the Derby, there's no doubt. But to come on here and say that this horse is not that good, I mean, this horse has been pretty consistent. It ran a hundred, it ran a hundred speed figure in the Louisiana Derby and lost by a leap. It didn't get blown out by emerging market. It lost by one leap.
Neil (36:30.798)
How you talking about?
Neil (36:40.508)
And I don't think emerging market sucks. I threw emerging market out. He was a 23-1 long shot in the Derby. He wasn't like he was like a favorite. This guy, this McGolden Tempo had a fluke trip in the Derby. This horse is does not belong. He does not belong. He's like.
Matt (36:46.526)
Mm-hmm.
Nick (37:00.267)
not saying you have to have this horse as a win contender. I'm saying if you're if you're including growth equity, I feel like you need to include Golden Tempo because Golden Tempo's a better horse than growth equity. And he's been in four stake races and finished better than third in every single one of them.
Neil (37:13.234)
He how do you know? He's never gone head to head against it. Growth equity, he's never gone head to Growth Equity hasn't faced any of the horses in this race. He's not faced any of the horses in this race. So how do you know he's a better horse? How do you know?
Nick (37:26.743)
When he like he's been in won the Peter Pay and all those other races are maiden races. Their class is not even comparable.
Neil (37:34.268)
What has Golden Tempo done?
Nick (37:37.389)
Finished in third or better in fourth? Okay.
Neil (37:38.716)
Third! He finished third, Nick, he finished third! He finished third! He finished third! What did Growth Equity do? He won a race! He actually won a damn race!
Nick (37:49.746)
So yeah, golden tempo's won a grade one and it won a grade three.
Neil (37:52.804)
In a twenty horse race when all the other good horses got knocked around by some crap horse name O'Celly. Some schmuck named O Celly screw the whole damn thing up.
Nick (38:03.541)
Alright, before we get off the rails.
God, are you okay?
Neil (38:08.894)
Yeah, we're good.
Matt (38:10.254)
I can't wait to hear about the story from the pizza model.
Nick (38:11.329)
Golden Timbo has been consistent. Has he been great? No, but he's been a consistent horse. Will he get the setup that he got in the Derby? Absolutely not. And I think because he's a derby horse, he's gonna get bet down. Which is just it happens every single year. And
Neil (38:30.152)
Go ahead and bet at nine to two, Nick. See how much money you make on that.
Nick (38:33.427)
I am not touching this horse at nine to two. And it will be a toss. But like I just I think we're going too far by saying this horse sucks. I don't think this horse sucks. He's three for five lifetime. And his other two starts are a third place finish. He's been in four graded stakes. He won the damn derby. Like, this horse deserves some credit. We can't just push it aside. Like it's some
horse that we're getting ready to turn into glue. Like, no, this horse is a good horse.
Neil (39:09.384)
He's like the monarchos of our generation.
Matt (39:09.782)
It's just not gonna come in the top four.
Nick (39:12.331)
He's not the Monarchos.
Neil (39:14.93)
He's like the mind that bird of this generation.
Nick (39:17.269)
He's definitely not mind that bird. I don't think mind that bird ever won another race. Like this horse is gonna win another race.
Matt (39:24.568)
Do you know that?
Neil (39:25.82)
He might not race after this, he's just gonna go stud.
Matt (39:28.896)
Yeah.
Nick (39:29.025)
Well if he goes I do think this horse will win another race.
Matt (39:32.994)
I you what I'm gonna say it's I as long as it races has a couple more races after this, Golden Tempo's not winning another one. Nope.
Nick (39:40.393)
Ever. E even if he races a four year old.
Matt (39:44.44)
Correct.
Neil (39:45.042)
I don't think he wins. I I agree with Matt. I don't think he wins another race.
Nick (39:48.981)
Okay. This is we we gotta do a bet on this one.
Matt (39:51.734)
Yep, June second, twenty twenty six, golden temples.
Neil (39:54.448)
Unless he races against some crap like Red Mile he's gonna race the Red Mile in Lexington or some nonsense.
Nick (39:57.355)
You said ever again.
Nick (40:02.571)
You said ever again.
Matt (40:02.782)
It will never w okay, all right, I'll revise it. It will never win it will never win a stakes race again.
Neil (40:05.298)
The horseshoe in Indiana.
Nick (40:11.211)
I that's fair, 'cause I don't think he'll run in many races that aren't stakes.
Neil (40:15.216)
I think they're gonna be too scared to run him in the Breeders' Cup Classic. They're gonna be too scared about it.
Nick (40:20.533)
I and there's no way I'm picking this horse in the Breeders' Cup Classic. But
Neil (40:23.228)
Will he run the Travers? Are they too scared of running the Travers? Put him the Travers. Put him in the Breeders Club Classic.
Nick (40:27.115)
I don't know, they're too scared to run him in a pregnantness, so I don't know what they're gonna be too scared to run him in. But
Neil (40:31.922)
He's gonna get dominated in the he's gonna get dominated in this race. They're gonna see his value start to go down because he sucks. And they're like, you know what? He's a derby winner. Before we can get beat anymore, let's go put him to stud so we can make a capitalize on as most money we make. And that's what's gonna happen. That's what's gonna happen.
Nick (40:45.505)
And that could happen. And that could happen. And if he doesn't race as a four year old, to me, that's the only way he doesn't ever win again. If he races a four year old, this horse will win again. He's just too talented of a horse.
Neil (40:54.302)
Very well.
What you d what talent what are you looking at?
Matt (41:01.888)
It needs a perfect train.
Neil (41:02.598)
He won because of Sally screwed everything up.
Nick (41:05.601)
Well, he's won three times in his life and O'Cell he hasn't been in all those races.
Neil (41:10.556)
What's his biggest race before the derby that he won?
Nick (41:13.463)
Vilcante? At fairgrounds? It's grade three. It's grade three. Vilcante.
Neil (41:14.984)
The who? The what? The what? The the Lacante?
Nick (41:20.973)
It's a grade three race. It's a derby tra like you're on the derby trail.
Neil (41:23.186)
Did you even pronounce that correctly? Did you pronounce that correctly?
Matt (41:29.356)
A grade three. Wasn't the wasn't the stakes race from what horse in the preakness a grade three too? What what was that stakes you were talking about, Neo?
Neil (41:35.953)
Lick.
Nick (41:36.481)
But Taj Taj Mahal? Yeah, but he never left his own track.
Neil (41:39.656)
Nick. Nick, this horse is not good. He's like the rich strike. He just struck gold one time. He's a one hit wonder. He he is better than rich strike, but he's a one hit wonder. He's a one hit wonder. He's got no chance in this race. Absolutely zero chance.
Nick (41:48.951)
This worse is better than Rich Strike. Like, stop. Like
Nick (41:58.178)
I don't think he has a chance in this race. That's not what I'm arguing. I think we are saying that this horse sucks when he doesn't really suck and he's better than Growth X.
Who you said has a chance. I think we're just nobody knows anything. We're we only have opinions right now.
Neil (42:11.869)
You don't know that.
Nick (42:23.063)
See and this is another reason why I think the draft would have been kinda cool to see who takes golden tempo. Because six horses out of nine, he has to get taken.
Neil (42:30.45)
Well, y if you y you would have picked him in the first round with your like you're loving you're in love with Golden Tempo.
Nick (42:33.535)
I wouldn't pick anymore in the first round.
But somebody would have had to take him. Who would have taken?
Neil (42:41.95)
Alright, if I had to pick where I would put Golden Tempo in this race, I've got one, two, three, four. He'd be s my sixth choice. Sixth.
Nick (42:54.445)
I think you'd be my fifth.
Nick (42:59.414)
I give you my fifth.
Neil (43:00.55)
But you're not tossing them.
Nick (43:03.681)
Yeah, d I did say toss. Yeah.
Neil (43:05.534)
Did he say toss? I didn't hear him say toss. Did he say toss, Matt? Did he he's over here slurping it off, but he's he's not saying toss.
Matt (43:08.722)
He said he said to us
Nick (43:10.317)
I didn't slurve it off. I said we are crushing this derby winner too hard.
Neil (43:15.464)
Well when you finish fifth out of nine horses, you suck. You suck. You're in about l the lower fifty percent. You're in the lower fifty percent of the horses in this race. So yeah, you suck.
Nick (43:27.607)
There's there's good horses at the top of this race.
Matt (43:31.054)
Honestly, Golden Tempo might be my seventh horse if I'm ranking one to nine. It's six seven. I'm not trying to make a joke.
Neil (43:36.432)
My God, just because my kids don't finish first in a swim meet and they finish seventh out of ninth, I'm be Harper, you didn't really swim that well. You're not very good at this. Although she did finish first twice. She did finish first twice yesterday, man.
Nick (43:46.849)
This isn't a race. This is our opinion. Like, we're not going to the track and predicting what's eight year old's gonna win the race. This is actual results. Like, this is opinion.
Matt (44:00.02)
We're betting on three year olds, not eight year olds, Nick. Come on.
Nick (44:02.143)
Right. Who are the two you have below Golden Tempo if you're going seven?
Neil (44:08.03)
I it's pretty obvious.
Matt (44:08.328)
it's Otinho and Vitruvian man.
Neil (44:12.232)
Pretty obvious who they are.
Nick (44:13.389)
I'll just make it sure.
Matt (44:14.06)
Because here here no, here's the thing, Nick. Growth equity has a better chance of winning this race based how it's set up. Growth equity is a stalker. That's what's going to win this race. A deep close Yeah, deep closer is not going to win this race.
Neil (44:23.858)
He's gonna be up there, yes.
Nick (44:28.661)
I didn't have either one. I had both of them as tosses.
Neil (44:33.158)
Like what why are you John Kerry and flip flopping here? Like are you are you in the horse or you out on the horse? Can we make a decision on what the hell you're talking about? No, you are. You are. You're like, this horse is so great. This horse is so great. This horse is so great. But he's not gonna win. He's terrible. He he's gonna finish seventh out of ninth. He's fifth out of ninth. He's not even gonna be in the upper top upper half of this race. But you're you're saying he's so great, then why aren't you putting him as a tri contender?
Nick (44:39.937)
There's now John Kerry flip flopping. I just said quit crushing the horse.
Matt (44:42.134)
Yeah.
Nick (45:00.749)
'Cause he's not gonna get the pace set up and he's not gonna finish in the in the try or the super.
Neil (45:03.88)
So he sucks. If you finish fifth out of ninth, you suck. You're not good.
Nick (45:07.607)
But I also don't think growth equity is gonna get the lead and cause I think PowerShift is gonna get it. So I'm tossing that horse.
Neil (45:11.486)
Get out of here.
Matt (45:14.006)
Doesn't want the lead. It's a stalker. It wants to be right off the lead.
Nick (45:17.111)
But it's gonna be right I there's too many b horses that are better than that horse that are gonna finish over top of him.
Neil (45:20.295)
He's gonna be on the hip.
So he said.
Nick (45:26.367)
Yeah.
Neil (45:26.524)
In a nine horse race, if you finish fifth, you're not good.
Nick (45:29.565)
I I don't disagree with that. But I still think this horse is better than we're giving him credit for. It it's not at the biggest fluke in the history of Derby.
Neil (45:39.516)
It it not in the history. Not in the history. But it's it's top it's top ten, top eight.
Matt (45:39.692)
No, but it's up there. It's up there.
Matt (45:47.309)
Yeah.
Nick (45:47.679)
In the history, in the hundred and fifty years? I I think that's probably I mean, I don't have the numbers, but I think that's probably stretching it.
Neil (45:49.412)
In the history of the Derby, yes.
Matt (45:50.2)
Yeah.
Matt (45:54.52)
But i it is because of how far it was how far back it was coming around the final turn.
Neil (46:00.848)
It was a wrist strike-esque run. Wrist strike was the same spot he was. It was a very wrist strike-esque run. He's a better horse than wrist strike, but it was the same kind of run.
Matt (46:05.015)
Yes.
Nick (46:10.635)
Rich Strike at least was on the inside for the most part, saving ground. Like this horse was But but he was he was on the rail when he made his final move. Like Yeah.
Neil (46:14.982)
Nah, he went out, he went in. Rick Strike was a drunk when he ran the race.
Matt (46:21.654)
Right. So and so there. So it's even more improbable because of how far
Nick (46:27.092)
Or he's a better horse.
Neil (46:30.358)
There's only nine horses in this race, and those horses that got bumped by O'Celly, where he screwed it up. The chief is gonna be way better than he was. And then we got commandment. Commandment's gonna be way better than he was. Like this guy has no chance.
Matt (46:35.543)
Celly O'Celly
Matt (46:42.326)
It was a do in commandment. O'Celly literally took yeah, O'Celly literally took out three of the top five or six runners. Literally took out.
Nick (46:50.509)
What do you say? Yeah.
Neil (46:52.786)
Otherwise we're not even talking this horse isn't even running in the Belmont if O'Celly doesn't run the it's O'Celly's fault. O'Celly's fault. O'Celly is Damn horse. Kick him
Nick (47:02.221)
Alright.
Matt (47:02.764)
Why why could it have O'Celly bucked his jockey and then been scratched?
Neil (47:06.246)
He shouldn't have even been in the race!
Nick (47:08.333)
He should. There are too many dang scratches. I do think Golden Tipel runs in this race, even if he doesn't win the Derby.
Matt (47:18.936)
Sure. Sure, I don't know. All right, let's go to our win picks.
Nick (47:19.753)
I mean, who cares? Who cares?
Neil (47:25.342)
Are we going wait, are we going our tries or wins first?
Matt (47:27.052)
Are we doing try or win pick first?
Nick (47:29.997)
so we'll be doing we're just doing straight three for our tries.
Matt (47:34.222)
Straight three.
Neil (47:36.364)
we're not boxing or we like first second third wait, what are we doing? First, second third?
Matt (47:41.73)
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Nick (47:42.004)
do you want to go straight?
Nick (47:48.429)
All right. who can't Yeah, but we we can
Neil (47:48.574)
going well Nick, you're going last 'cause you won. Let's go let Matt Matt go first.
Matt (47:53.878)
The the the the try we can we can have horses. Yeah. The win I think
Neil (47:56.702)
No, we can't. We can't.
Nick (47:58.53)
So this'll this'll have our windpick in it too, because you're going in north.
Matt (48:04.622)
It might not though.
Nick (48:07.351)
All right, start us off.
Matt (48:07.958)
I'm gonna do Chief Wallaby One, I'm going to go Emerging Market Two and Commandment Three.
Nick (48:23.287)
Deal did not like that emerging market second pick. All right, go Neil. The H how are you not on like some horse racing like handicapping show full time with your knowledge?
Neil (48:30.554)
I'm gonna go commit.
Neil (48:37.726)
Genius. I'm going Commandment. I think Commandment follows the pattern of beating Chief Wallaby as he has two other times. The Derby not his fault, so we can just throw the Derby out. Give me commandment one. Give me Wallaby Two. And I think Renegade comes late, but doesn't get quite get there. He's third. So give me.
Commandment Wallaby Renegade.
Nick (49:10.539)
Mine's very similar to yours, Neil. commandment first. But I'm going emerging market too.
Neil (49:19.089)
my god.
Nick (49:20.693)
And then Renegade three.
Neil (49:23.006)
What the hell do you all love about immersion? Why don't you
Matt (49:26.19)
Drinking the Kool-Aid, man.
Nick (49:28.013)
Little bit, yeah. If if you put a long shot in your tries or supers, who you who are you putting in?
Neil (49:38.568)
Growth equity.
Matt (49:42.241)
Shift.
Nick (49:43.733)
I'm on I'm on power shift too.
Nick (49:49.313)
He might not. He might. He might not.
Matt (49:49.526)
Probably.
Neil (49:54.078)
I just like you're just like growth equities like you're just throwing out like you have no idea about this horse.
Nick (49:59.426)
I don't have no idea about anything. They
Neil (50:02.222)
That's true. That is true.
Nick (50:04.363)
Like about life in general. And then you're gonna tell me about horses and I was gonna
Neil (50:08.318)
Well we're not asking you about girls. We're not asking you about girls. We're just asking about horses. We know you don't have any any any answers about girls, but horses I thought maybe. It is well I mean, didn't you like back when stable duel was a thing, you were you were hitting a little bit here. You like you knew what you were doing a little bit.
Matt (50:10.861)
Ha ha ha.
Nick (50:11.853)
I'm the same life in general, dude.
Nick (50:17.153)
Like this stuff's hard.
Matt (50:20.781)
Yeah.
Nick (50:26.624)
I miss I miss table door.
I'm a stable door. And
Matt (50:31.874)
What was that w what was that racetrack we were betting up in frickin' Winnipeg?
Nick (50:36.705)
That's it's so it's Cinnaboya Downs. I'm dude, I used to celebrate opening day because I would bet it every single night on stable door. And
Matt (50:47.598)
I think that my only win on stable duel came up there.
Nick (50:50.141)
I w I won a thousand dollar pool on Acinoboya Downs.
Neil (50:54.27)
Hey, when is the when is the royal ass?
Nick (50:58.103)
Couple weeks.
Matt (50:58.126)
Is that yeah, I was gonna say later in June, no? I think last week of June.
Neil (51:02.686)
The Royal Ascot. That's that's that is some entertainment.
Matt (51:08.054)
Send O'Celly over there and let him bump into all the horses over there.
Neil (51:11.74)
Yeah. Nope.
Nick (51:13.197)
Are are we at least excited this is the last Belmont at Saratoga? And
Matt (51:17.324)
Yes. Cause I think
Neil (51:19.102)
Does everything back everything gets back to normal next year, right?
Nick (51:19.245)
That we're going.
should, hopefully. I don't think it's guaranteed that it'll be back at Pilmico, but they're hoping. They're hoping.
Matt (51:23.426)
Yeah.
Neil (51:27.702)
that's right, Churchill took it over. I forgot Churchill took it over.
Matt (51:29.538)
Yeah. But they're renovating Pimlico, right? So it'd be really dumb to renovate Pimlico and lose the
Nick (51:32.588)
Yes.
Neil (51:33.084)
Yeah, yeah. Should be hopeful. I you gotta be done. You gotta be done but
Matt (51:37.741)
Yeah.
I'm excited just in terms of you're gonna get more horses in the Preakness now in the setup because people won't just sit out till Belmont because I mean a mile and a half's a mile and a half. Not everyone can run a mile and a half. You might rather run the Preakness on two weeks and then skip the Belmont. Right now you're basically running a Derby two point with longer rest.
Nick (52:03.233)
Mm-hmm. Yep.
Nick (52:07.969)
So excited to get back to normal, but they would be even better if we weren't normal and like we said at the beginning of the show, we were doing these four weeks apart. Because it it would be cool to see Commandment and Renegade and Wallaby all running against each other for the third time. And the fact that you've got this race that doesn't include the Preakness winner, it just the Preakness didn't include the Derby winner.
Matt (52:27.65)
Yeah.
Nick (52:37.387)
Like that sucks.
Nick (52:43.051)
Anything else on the race?
Matt (52:46.616)
We gotta do are we gonna do our wins? Our win picks?
Nick (52:50.103)
I think we did Like, aren't aren't they gonna match up?
Matt (52:51.596)
Huh? Yeah, I guess that's true.
Neil (52:55.36)
Matt's going well.
Nick (52:55.447)
Like you're not you're going wallaby and we're going commandment, right?
Neil (52:58.333)
Going commandment.
Matt (53:00.63)
I'll say this though, I'll put a caveat in my win bet. If commandment is four to one or higher, I'm I'm gonna go commandment. I'm gonna go the value.
Nick (53:11.757)
Well what do you think Wallaby's gonna go off at?
Matt (53:15.166)
I think Wallaby he's probably gonna be around three. I think it's gonna I think it's gonna s stick at three. I think Commandment's gonna go down a little bit right away, but if Commandment comes back, I mean, it's a hammer at five or six or higher.
Neil (53:18.482)
I think he sticks it around three. Yeah, I think he sticks it three.
Neil (53:29.692)
I think Commandment I my guess is Commandment and Wallaby are about equal around three to one and Renegade goes off at like five to two.
Nick (53:38.369)
Yeah, 'cause they're gonna have to move. Like Wallaby or Renegade are gonna have to go up for these horses to go down.
Matt (53:38.477)
Yeah.
Neil (53:42.076)
I think Renegades goes to about five to two, maybe to three to one, maybe. But w I think w if any but if anything, I think Wallaby goes up, Commandment goes down. We'll see.
Nick (53:55.544)
And then what about emerging market? That horse, what's he what's his line gonna do?
Neil (54:00.732)
He sh he should be thirty to one.
Matt (54:04.844)
I mean he got down to eight to one at the Derby. I think sitting at six to one. I think you're just gonna have I think Wallaby's gonna get bet more than him, Renegade's gonna get bet more than him, Commandment's gonna get bet more than him, and Tempo's gonna get bet more than him. So I just listed off four horses in a nine horse field. So you would imagine emerging market might go off at seven or eight to one. It's his odds are gonna go up, I think.
Nick (54:28.801)
What what what about what happens when they show Lil Liotti and Lil Wayne on the broadcast on Fox?
Matt (54:33.57)
Dude, it's not gonna make that big of a deal. I don't th I don't think right
Neil (54:36.808)
They don't know horses.
Nick (54:39.115)
I'm not saying they do. I'm saying people bet on it just because they own it.
Matt (54:43.244)
The people that would bet on don't know horses are going on. They might not be awake before the race starts.
Neil (54:48.996)
Exactly. Matt ain't wrong.
Matt (54:52.93)
Like
Neil (54:55.164)
Also, please, everybody put your money on Golden Tempo.
Matt (54:55.52)
It's not that big of a deal. Yeah, bet tempo, bet yeah, please do.
Nick (55:00.865)
What so what will this level off at?
Neil (55:01.79)
Like it's a great it's a it's a feel good story. Derby winner. We got the d female trainer, Shere DeVoe. Like go ahead and put all your money on it. Put those nine to two odds down to two to one.
Matt (55:12.245)
give them
Nick (55:12.439)
There's no there's no way it's higher than nine to two.
Neil (55:16.776)
Higher? It should be. I agree. It should be. It should be. But you're right.
Nick (55:18.391)
Like the odds aren't gonna be Yeah.
Matt (55:23.501)
Mm-hmm.
Nick (55:27.061)
Alright. Taco NBA finals?
Neil (55:32.03)
Yeah.
Matt (55:34.05)
Thank God for the Spurs. Thunder Knicks would have been unwatchable.
Nick (55:36.386)
Why you say that?
Nick (55:41.889)
Why why do you say that?
Matt (55:45.452)
I mean it would be a flop fest between SGA and Jalen Brunson. It just would be like again, I'm not the biggest NBA fan, so I can't really talk much. But like it just would have been so unenjoyable to watch as a neutral fan. It just I think he went to go get another drink. Yep there it is. I figured I figured that.
Nick (56:00.43)
Did we just lose Neil?
Neil (56:02.6)
No. How you gonna had a refill?
Nick (56:07.117)
Look, and Matt, we Neil and I have talked about this. This is probably the fewest NBA games that I've watched, maybe in my lifetime. But I'm intrigued by this finals. And honestly, I was half of the conference finals I was intrigued by. Game one of the Eastern Conference finals was fun with the Knicks comeback. The rest of it the Cavs didn't even show up. So that wasn't fun to watch, but
Matt (56:15.821)
Yeah.
Matt (56:20.845)
Mm-hmm.
Nick (56:35.019)
The Western Conference finals were fun and I'm excited to watch this. I would love to see the Knicks figure out a way to win it. I just can their experience overcome the youth of the Spurs, even though the Spurs just have I mean, with Wimby, like what what do you do?
Neil (56:52.104)
I mean, no, like the Spurs have the best player. The Spurs have the best player in the finals. I mean, Wimby is by far, in a way, the best player. The Knicks are have 11 in a row, which is absolutely incredible. I mean, they are dominating teams, but Yeah, no, they're they're dominating, but they're dominating nobody's impressed by the Cavs. The Cavs or the Cavs. You know, come on. In the Hawks, the Hawks, like whatever. And who else would they be along the way?
Nick (57:03.361)
My twenty four points. They're averaging a margin of victory of twenty four points.
Nick (57:14.708)
I I agree.
Neil (57:21.342)
They swapped the
Nick (57:23.543)
The Sixers.
Neil (57:26.086)
Yeah, the Sixers are terrible. Like they're not fa they haven't faced a team like the Spurs and the Spurs are coming off beating the defending the defending NBA champion, Oklahoma City Thunder.
As I said, I think the youth and having the best player matters. The Spurs have home court advantage. I mean it's cute. New York's painting their subways, you know, orange and blue and all that nonsense. It's cute. Like NBA finals in the garden is gonna be electric. But they're gonna come home down two To me. They're gonna come home down two And it means Spurs and six. Spurs and six.
Nick (58:00.814)
So you talked about how hot. Well, we aren't there yet. You're you're premature on this, but this Knicks eleven game winning streak. They have a point differential of plus two sixty-two. It's the greatest eleven game stretch any team has played in the eighty years the NBA has existed, covering both regular season and postseason.
Neil (58:07.55)
Sorry. Sorry.
Nick (58:30.065)
Is that more of a product of the teams they've played or are the Knicks just that good?
Neil (58:36.638)
Thousand percent the teams they played. A thousand percent. They're not doing that against the Thunder. They're not doing that against the Spurs. They're not doing that against who was in the semifinals of the West. Who'd the Spurs beat?
Matt (58:38.776)
Mm-hmm.
Nick (58:51.66)
The T Wolves.
Neil (58:53.054)
Yeah, they're not doing that against the T Wolves. They're not doing that against no. It's by far it's the product of the teams they beat 'cause the Western Conference is better than the East. And it's not close. It's not even close.
Matt (58:53.464)
Yeah, it was.
Matt (59:06.646)
I can't root for anything New York sports, so go Spurs, go Wemby.
Nick (59:11.415)
So in the regular season, Knicks won two out of three against the Spurs, including winning the championship game of the NBA Cup.
Look, the NBA Cup, dude. Listen to this. Listen to this.
Neil (59:24.178)
be a MBA cup? Are you hanging a are they gonna hang a banner like the Lakers did last year?
Matt (59:26.936)
Yeah.
Matt (59:32.396)
Yeah.
Nick (59:32.705)
Well, I no I did you not hear the Spurs players talking about getting revenge on the NBA Cup in the postgame when they won the West Conference final?
Neil (59:37.532)
The NBA Cup. No, because nobody gives a shit about the NBA Cup.
Nick (59:41.1)
Not all right, let me tell you. This year it predicted the finals perfectly, as the Knicks beat the Spurs in the NBA Cup final. Last year the Thunder made it to the NBA Cup final before winning the whole thing. And the Pacers made the NBA cup NBA Cup final the year before they went to the finals. So there's some predictive measures there.
Neil (59:43.487)
that's here, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
Neil (01:00:04.766)
So we love the NBA Cup. So the season should be over in October because of the NBA Cup.
Nick (01:00:08.855)
No, that's not what it's supposed to be. But it d I think I'm not being an NBA Cup guy. I'm saying that it predicts him a little bit.
Neil (01:00:15.262)
Hey, you have an NBA Cup champions hat? Hey, you get a New York NBA Cup champions T shirt? Loser. You're a loser.
Nick (01:00:20.063)
It's predictive a little bit. Is there not? Where's stats, guys? There's some numbers there that show. But so it's just fluke. It's just random numbers. That the two teams that played in the NBA Cup are playing in the NBA final. Strictly random.
Neil (01:00:25.917)
No.
Neil (01:00:35.996)
Yeah. I mean I think it is a fluke. Yeah, yeah.
Matt (01:00:36.984)
Yeah.
Nick (01:00:39.221)
Last year the Thunder went to the NBA Cup Finals and then won the NBA Finals. That's random.
Neil (01:00:42.226)
Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Who did they play last year in the finals?
Nick (01:00:46.177)
The Pacers?
Neil (01:00:47.528)
No, no. In the NBA Cup final.
Nick (01:00:50.231)
They lost to the Bucks in the final. It's not a hundred percent predictive measure. It's not a hundred percent predictive measure.
Neil (01:00:54.408)
where'd the Bucks finish? They lost in the first round, Nick. They lost in the first round. They lost in the first round. it's a predictive measure. You won the NBA Cup. You lost in the first round, you idiot. It is a stupid argument. That is a stupid argument. You lost and you won the NBA Cup. guess what? You get a free pass to the NBA Finals. guess what? No, you don't. You don't. You lost in the first round. What a stupid ass argument. On the Pacers.
Nick (01:01:04.429)
We're on seventy five percent right now. That's a pretty good predictive measure.
Nick (01:01:22.295)
Not an argument!
Neil (01:01:23.176)
Because the Pacers went to the finals of the NBA Cup the year before. The year before, not even the same year. Not even the same year. They went the next year to the NBA finals.
Nick (01:01:27.286)
Yeah.
Nick (01:01:32.821)
Yeah. That that one's a stretch. But the la last two years, seventy five percent of the teams that played in the NBA Cup have played in the actual finals. I think it's pretty big I think it's a pretty good number. Pretty good number.
Neil (01:01:46.654)
It's it it makes no sense. It's October.
Nick (01:01:50.207)
It's December, but
Neil (01:01:54.962)
Yeah, where's your where's your NBA cup hat and t shirt?
Nick (01:01:59.448)
Well, my n nieces and nephews have wondered why I'm not a Knicks fan.
Neil (01:02:06.014)
That's cute.
Nick (01:02:07.149)
But yeah, just 'cause I'm a Bulls and I've don't like the Knicks.
Neil (01:02:12.008)
Give me the Spurs and six. What y'all got?
Matt (01:02:16.696)
Burrs and five.
Neil (01:02:18.31)
Mm.
Nick (01:02:20.095)
Next and seven.
Matt (01:02:22.441)
Neil (01:02:23.454)
So they're gonna win in San Antonio in game seven. After the Spurs just went to game seven on the defending champions' home floor and and took him to town.
Nick (01:02:35.019)
Yeah. I mean it's it's one game. Like they've beat two out of three in the regular season. They've got more experience.
Neil (01:02:44.486)
regular season means so much when there's load management and crap going on. But yeah. I forgot. What the NBA Cup. That's right. The NBA Cup. They beat him in the NBA Cup. So it's it's foregone conclusion. Why are we even playing these NBA finals? They've already won the NBA Cup.
Nick (01:02:48.033)
I'm not saying it it's end all be all.
Nick (01:03:00.085)
That would be wild if they just wrapped up the season in December.
Matt (01:03:04.269)
Well, see you later.
Nick (01:03:05.581)
Wouldn't that be just wild? Dude, I like small guards, give me Jalen Brunson. I bet on the Knicks two months ago at plus twenty three hundred. I'm sitting on that.
Give me the Knicks all day, please. So I've thought about it, but the the Spurs are minus one hundred ninety. So I'm a ten dollar bet to win two thirty.
Matt (01:03:28.524)
No hedge, not gonna hedge.
Neil (01:03:39.09)
You're a Brendan Soresby kind of gambler.
Matt (01:03:41.676)
Ha ha ha.
Nick (01:03:43.243)
Does it even make sense?
Neil (01:03:45.01)
it makes sense. Ten bucks here, ten bucks there.
Matt (01:03:48.118)
You want to feel part of the team.
Nick (01:03:48.401)
I don't have enough money to be bet in bigger numbers. If I if I bet a hundred on the spares it brings me fifty. Like, is that even worth it? I don't I don't think so.
Neil (01:04:01.094)
Hey, you just roll with your NBA Cup champions, my guy. Good luck.
Nick (01:04:06.751)
I appreciate that. And I will pull for the NBA Cup champion.
Matt (01:04:07.15)
You know what? If the Knicks somehow win game one, if the Knicks somehow win game one, then then the odds will better in your favor. Yeah.
Nick (01:04:12.459)
Yeah. Then you can hedge. Yeah, then you can hedge.
Neil (01:04:17.372)
I still say Spurs in six, even if they lose game one.
Nick (01:04:23.245)
a wimbi here's a wimby number. He's the first player to reach the NBA finals in his first playoff appearance after being named first all NBA first team since Elgin Baylor in nineteen fifty nine.
Nick (01:04:40.875)
mean the dude is twenty two years old. We've said it multiple times, he's a space jam character, he's an alien, and the dude wants to be great, which
You don't always see that these days. Like he wants to be really good. And he's gonna have how many chances to win these things? So let the Knicks win this one. Let the city go nuts. Let me win my bet.
Nick (01:05:18.845)
Nick (01:05:22.541)
Steph Curry, we were texting about this yesterday.
Nick (01:05:29.281)
What like a ten year, four hundred million dollar deal with Li Ning, a Chinese apparel company?
Nick (01:05:39.703)
Yeah, y'all gonna go rock some leanings?
Matt (01:05:43.342)
Mm.
Neil (01:05:45.022)
I mean good for Steph. I mean Steph Yeah, I Ling Ling Ling Ming, Ling Ning. Is this where we get our jerseys from?
Nick (01:05:45.239)
Am I saying it right? Yeah, I am saying it right.
Nick (01:05:53.901)
Vai ver.
Matt (01:05:54.167)
Yeah.
Neil (01:05:55.774)
Is this where we get all of our Bengals and Reds jerseys and Braves jerseys from whatever from them? No, I mean good for Steph. Man's getting paid, but I mean to me this is just another Starberry. It's like the it's like the what what do we know a retail price on these shoes?
Matt (01:05:58.728)
That's AliExpress. AliExpress.
Nick (01:06:12.746)
What was the brand of Starberry?
Neil (01:06:15.132)
Some Chinese brain.
Nick (01:06:16.703)
It was
Matt (01:06:16.866)
Yeah. Let me let me look up.
Nick (01:06:19.926)
So at the end of this deal, it's reported it it's gonna heals Steph will earn almost one point two billion dollars. They are going to pop up huh billion.
Neil (01:06:30.718)
Billion? What a billion?
Yeah.
Nick (01:06:36.064)
They are going to pop up curry brand stores in the United States and in China. He's gonna have the rights to sign whatever athletes he wants, both male and female athletes. He's gonna have a golf golf apparel.
Neil (01:06:52.094)
So he's so he's he's a startup. He's like the first athlete under this company.
Nick (01:06:59.294)
No, I think this is a big company in China and he's just they're putting his brand and his logo. He's the first American athlete. I don't know if he's the first athlete overall. But he's he's he owns his logo that he's bringing over for Under Armour. So they're gonna utilize that. but he made
Neil (01:07:04.38)
No, but he is he the first big name they've s is he's gonna go recruit others to join? okay.
Nick (01:07:24.374)
The one point two billion is four times what he made in his twelve year contract with Under Armour.
But I mean they're trying to do with his brand what Jordan did with his, obviously, where it's a standalone brand outside of Nike. They want this to be a standalone brand outside of Lee Ning and own it because nobody's gonna buy Lee Ning stuff. Right. And look.
Neil (01:07:45.266)
Outside of Ling Ning. Nobody knows what Lin Ning is. Look like a a standalone brand outside of Nike is is is something to hang your hat on. We all know Nike. It's the most iconic brand in the in the world. What the hell is Ling Ning?
Nick (01:07:54.731)
I know.
But but Jordans don't have but I get some point they quit having Nike logos, Nike swooshes on their shoes and on their gear. Right. And so I I would guess, which would make sense, Lee Ning would do the same thing. They're not gonna put their logo that nobody knows on this stuff. They're just gonna sell the curry logo.
Neil (01:08:04.574)
Sure, I had Jordan's logo. Right.
Neil (01:08:14.994)
But who manufactured the Jordans? Was Jordan not a subsidiary of Nike?
Nick (01:08:19.136)
This is a subsidiary of leaning. It's the same it could be
Neil (01:08:21.532)
What the hell is a ling ning? That's all I'm saying. What the hell is a ling name?
Nick (01:08:24.298)
It doesn't matter. That's what they're hoping it doesn't matter.
Matt (01:08:28.59)
Apparently.
Neil (01:08:28.804)
Yeah, a hundred in the US it a hundred percent matters. Unless you're like I said, you're making these a Starberry, where it's twenty dollar shoes for Steph Curry that Matt Matt Paris over here is gonna buy because he had a pair of starberries. Maybe he's gonna be rocking those of the office next month. I don't know. Maybe he is. Like, but nobody knows what Ling Ning is. But everybody knows what Nike was and everybody knows what Jordan was. It was a subsidiary of Nike. So it was already established. Ling Ning shoes, like what the hell quality of shoe is a Ling Ning?
Nick (01:08:58.134)
Well, he practiced it before he's before he made the switch. So it it passed his quality check.
Neil (01:09:04.446)
It's gonna be a Zion where he blows the bottom of the shoe out.
Nick (01:09:07.264)
It's and that's possible.
But dude got a chance to make one point two Billy and have scores.
Neil (01:09:15.398)
Matt, you wanna buy a pair?
Matt (01:09:17.23)
So no, but I'm reading the about Lee Ning s th section on their website. And in their timeline, two thousand and six, Lee Ning signed the famous NBA Cleveland Cavaliers guard Damon Jones, becoming the first Chinese sports brand to appear in the NBA arena.
Neil (01:09:23.451)
god. god.
Neil (01:09:34.896)
god. god. This is just this is a mockery. It's a mockery of a Hall of Fame career. It's a mockery of a Hall of Fame career. And I don't I don't blame Steph. If he's getting a billion dollars, if he's getting a billion dollars, then take the billion dollars.
Nick (01:09:35.923)
huh.
Matt (01:09:41.368)
David's over David Jones.
Nick (01:09:41.42)
That's a good yeah.
Nick (01:09:48.724)
Right.
But you he you just called it a mockery and then you said you don't blame him. Which one is it? Is it a mockery or you do not blame him?
Neil (01:09:57.99)
It's a mockery of his brand, but he's selling out. It's a mockery of his brand, but if you're gonna give me a billion dollars to make him if you wanna turn me into a mockery, a joke, then give me a point 1.2 billion dollars, then fine. That's fine with me. Put a Neil Rohr shoe out there that falls apart like it disintegrates in water. But if I put you give me one point two billion dollars, that's fine. Your shoes are gonna fall apart when you step in a puddle.
Nick (01:09:59.767)
Talk about John Kerry flip flopping.
Nick (01:10:05.578)
He still has his brain. It's
Nick (01:10:11.114)
Okay. Exactly.
Nick (01:10:21.888)
Yeah. There
Neil (01:10:24.764)
I don't give a shit. But guess what? I'm being paid one point two billion dollars. You and me. You and me.
Nick (01:10:28.618)
Leaning is not gonna market the leaning portion of this deal. They're gonna market the Steph part of this deal and the Steph logo.
Neil (01:10:34.334)
Uh-huh. Yeah. And then your shoes your shoes will disintegrate when you step in a puddle.
Matt (01:10:36.48)
Right.
Nick (01:10:39.988)
Mm-hmm.
Matt (01:10:40.664)
I've got a question for both of you all, you're MBA people to a certain extent. Do you guys know the Way of Wade product line? Have you heard of it? Way of Wade.
Neil (01:10:49.394)
The what? The way of Wade? I'm guessing it's the Wayne Wade product line?
Nick (01:10:50.496)
What is it? No.
Matt (01:10:55.351)
Yes.
Neil (01:10:57.032)
I'd rather buy that than Ling Ning. Li Ling.
Matt (01:11:00.854)
Well, apparently in twenty twelve Lee Ning signed Dwayne Wade and is the leading brand behind Wave Wade.
Neil (01:11:08.434)
Never actually heard of though, so
Nick (01:11:09.696)
Well you just said you'd rather buy it. He he got you, bruh.
Neil (01:11:14.29)
Okay, can I go can I go to my foot locker and get a pair?
Matt (01:11:18.749)
probably not.
Neil (01:11:19.41)
No.
Nick (01:11:21.398)
But you're not gonna need to go to Foot Locker because there's gonna be curry branded stores. I already told you that.
Neil (01:11:26.35)
is there? You let me know the first yeah, I know you let me know the first one that opens up in Louisville, please.
Nick (01:11:32.19)
Okay, I will. I will.
Neil (01:11:34.972)
Let me know when the grand opening is. I'll be I'll be third in line.
Matt (01:11:38.615)
Mm-hmm.
Nick (01:11:39.422)
If it happens, you have to get in line for the grand opening.
Neil (01:11:43.09)
I'll buy a twenty dollar pair of Steph Curry shoes. Fine. Give me a curry branded store in in Mall St. Matthews and I will be in line. I'll shake on it. Here you go.
Nick (01:11:44.757)
You shake on that.
Nick (01:11:54.636)
Alright, shake.
Matt (01:11:56.546)
Albeit El Napa a Mark.
Neil (01:11:58.92)
There you go.
Nick (01:12:02.826)
Leaning.
Matt (01:12:04.524)
I'm buying you a lead.
Nick (01:12:06.952)
there were a couple trades yesterday in the NFL that affects both of our teams. The Pats get AJ Brown and the Bengals get Miles Garrett out of the ASD World.
Neil (01:12:09.916)
Matt's Patriots. Big time for the Patriots.
Neil (01:12:17.114)
Whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa whoa The who?
Nick (01:12:21.546)
The Bengals get Miles Garrett out of the AFC North. Have a few more.
Neil (01:12:23.802)
sorry.
Matt (01:12:26.286)
Neil thought you were breaking trade news right now.
Neil (01:12:29.406)
That's like the Bengals didn't get miles, Garrett. Okay.
Nick (01:12:29.804)
Have a few more.
Neil (01:12:34.142)
You could have just said the Rams get miles scary, 'cause like you know, that's what normal people would say.
Nick (01:12:38.966)
We talk to Bingles a lot on this show. It that move affects the Bingles.
Matt (01:12:44.856)
I think Cleveland did okay in that trade.
Nick (01:12:47.71)
I but still I like you give me the Browns without Miles Garrett, okay.
Matt (01:12:51.8)
Well yeah, yeah, yeah. You guys the it's the Browns are not
Neil (01:12:54.226)
They're they're gambling on their future. They're they're gambling on the future. I get it.
Matt (01:12:58.008)
Yeah. They're not gonna win during Miles Garrett's prime years, so might as well
Neil (01:13:02.78)
Here's the problem. No, you're right. And here's the problem is when have the Browns ever won though. Like, they do this crap all the time. Like, yeah, like we'll like we're gambling on our future. We get some draft picks and then you still suck. You still suck and you still suck. They've sucked forever. They've sucked the entire franchise. They've always sucked.
Matt (01:13:07.502)
True.
Nick (01:13:20.268)
Well they make the playoffs and then they get rid of Baker.
Neil (01:13:23.752)
They're dumb as shit, but
Nick (01:13:27.552)
But good like they asked T. Higgins and Jamar about it and they're like, that's good. Okay, we don't have to worry about Miles Garrett anymore.
Neil (01:13:35.1)
Well, they didn't ask Joe Burrow, the one that gets knocked around by Miles Garrett?
Nick (01:13:38.924)
Well he didn't he didn't talk to the media today.
Bye.
Neil (01:13:43.826)
No, it's a it's a win for the entire AFC. I mean Miles Garrett's the best pass rusher in the league. Get him out of the AFC North, get him out of the Bengals division, get him out of the entire conference. It's a win for the Patriots, it's a win for the Bengals, it's a win for the Br the the Broncos, it's a win for the Ravens, it's a win for everybody in the AFC. Get him out. It's not a win for the NFL because now the Rams have the leading passer in touchdowns, leading passer in yards.
The leading receiver, the leading receiver in touchdowns, and now the leading r pass rusher, the leader in second.
Nick (01:14:17.524)
And I don't know if you got on social today, but Aaron Donald is teasing that he might come back.
Matt (01:14:23.592)
god.
Neil (01:14:23.866)
I mean why? Why? He's not I mean that's a joke, right?
Nick (01:14:26.06)
Super Bowls is in they just got no, I don't think it is. I don't know if it's gonna happen. He he still could definitely perform. And Super Bowl's back in LA. They just got Miles Garrett.
Neil (01:14:29.71)
That's a joke. That's a joke.
Neil (01:14:35.87)
Couldn't
Neil (01:14:40.744)
How long has he been out? Two years?
Nick (01:14:42.636)
Two years.
Neil (01:14:47.038)
I mean, dude, just
Matt (01:14:51.598)
Mm.
Nick (01:14:51.66)
I mean, nobody wants to see that though.
Neil (01:14:55.132)
I'm not worried about I'm not worried about a forty five year old Aaron Donald. How old how old would Aaron Donald be?
Nick (01:14:55.23)
Aaron Donald from the Aaron Donald from the inside and Miles Garrett from the outside.
Nick (01:15:03.404)
I don't think he's that old. He retired pretty young.
Matt (01:15:06.006)
No, he'll be like thirty thirty three, thirty four. He's not that old.
Nick (01:15:10.838)
Thirty five years old.
Neil (01:15:12.092)
Why do you retire?
Nick (01:15:14.572)
'Cause he's a football player and he got tired of beating his body up and he just won a Super Bowl. I'm sure that's why.
Neil (01:15:19.838)
So it's come back and beat his body up.
Nick (01:15:23.242)
Me. I I'm just reading what he was tweeting earlier.
What what's this move do for the for the Pats? The AJ.
Matt (01:15:33.56)
What? I mean, number one wide receiver. I mean, the biggest thing with the Patriots is they are objectively a better team than the team that lined up against the Seahawks in the Super Bowl. You've got AJ Brown, your number one wide receiver, you've got Romeo Dobbs, your number two wide receiver. You Drake May is going to take a step up. Your offensive line supposedly is going to be a little bit better, thank God. And I mean, you didn't lose a ton.
I mean, they're gonna play a tougher schedule, so I'm not gonna expect them to have as as much success in the regular season as they did last year, but I'll take it. I love it. Drake May. Still a free agent. Still a free agent. Yep. Top top Douglas, Mac Collins, Kyle Williams is in year two. You've got some depth in your wide receiver room, which is good.
Neil (01:16:12.062)
Where did Dig where did Diggs go?
Neil (01:16:18.033)
So we the Mario Douglas.
Matt (01:16:28.468)
So yeah, no, I'm excited about it. I mean, you're trending upwards and Buffalo is kinda just holding front, maybe falling, dipping just a little bit. New head coach, don't know. Could be good, could be bad.
Nick (01:16:41.6)
And they really just they didn't give up a ton. And like w we've had rumors of this for how long? And it looks like the Eagles kept trying to find it, see if they could get more and finally they just like all right, this is what we're gonna get.
Matt (01:16:45.165)
No, it's
Neil (01:16:47.962)
December. Yeah.
Matt (01:16:48.054)
Months.
Matt (01:16:53.718)
And I mean I think I think them even taking a twenty eight pick first round pick, not a twenty seven, was probably because the Patriots said 'cause Patriots decide to wait till June one. 'Cause that now the Eagles can spread the dead cat dead cap hit over two years. So the Eagles are probably like, All right, we'll do you a solid.
Neil (01:17:12.222)
There was definitely a reason why.
Matt (01:17:14.902)
Yeah. So no, I love it. Gets to be back with Mike Vrabel. I AJ Brown can be kind of a diva, but hopefully he knows what he's getting into and apparently he's been a Patriots fan his entire life. So was upset that they drafted Nikhil Harry in the first round in back in twenty nineteen and so was I. Yeah.
Neil (01:17:36.094)
What do you think, Nick?
Nick (01:17:37.855)
About
Neil (01:17:39.1)
AJ Brown, the Patriots.
Nick (01:17:41.514)
I they need a a number one. Like I he was a nutcase last year, that c would concern me a little bit. But there's a lot of wide receivers that are nutcases that are when they're motivated are really good. And like I think if you're Patriots, you have to take this chance.
Nick (01:18:04.288)
Have y'all been watching a lot of college baseball, college softball?
Neil (01:18:04.347)
As long as it
Matt (01:18:09.591)
I've kinda kept up with colours softball. Baseball baseball was nuts this weekend.
Neil (01:18:10.578)
Yes. You're in there.
Neil (01:18:15.496)
Baseball has been insane.
Nick (01:18:19.104)
The end of games, nobody's watching these four four hour games. Like you just watched the seventh, eighth and ninth.
Neil (01:18:23.122)
No, but just just the the the regional hosts that are not advancing. It's insane.
Matt (01:18:28.152)
Dude, UCLA should have gone two in barbecue. UCLA should have not won a game. As the number one overall seed. They were down by three in the ninth.
Neil (01:18:33.662)
True. They came back against they came back against Virginia Tech. Yeah, against Virginia Tech.
Nick (01:18:40.202)
And they were the two seed last year and did get through, right? Two overall seed?
Matt (01:18:46.19)
I don't know.
Neil (01:18:49.832)
They might have been, but I mean you got the
Nick (01:18:52.32)
I know they were pretty high and they didn't get through.
Neil (01:18:55.294)
Then you got they're out. Number two seed Georgia Tech, who has a historically good season down in Atlanta. They're out. They don't host. Florida loses to Troy. They're out. St. John's goes to Florida State. Florida State's out. Texas AM loses to USC. Like like all of these regional hosts are out.
Nick (01:19:11.478)
We we see it every year.
Matt (01:19:14.456)
Nebraska didn't make it out. Yeah, it's
Nick (01:19:17.012)
I last year we saw Murray State get to the the college world series.
Neil (01:19:20.584)
More it was Murray, yep.
Nick (01:19:22.624)
Like the Yeah.
Matt (01:19:22.646)
This year we're gonna see Little Rock.
Neil (01:19:24.754)
I mean it's either Little Rock or or Troy, yeah.
Matt (01:19:27.022)
Right.
Nick (01:19:29.248)
Like the one good thing is like NIL is involved, but it it's not at the level that we see at basketball and football, obviously. which allows these smaller teams and baseball is just baseball. Like I just said baseball's ba like anything can happen in baseball. You ride a hot pitcher, you g you like you just you just see upsets more often. The best teams in Major League Baseball lose sixty games. Like it's just that's what baseball is. But Kentucky is what?
Neil (01:19:42.13)
Baseball's way different.
Nick (01:19:59.155)
Up three, go into the ninth, and they have to put a guy in that's pitched ten times in the year and hadn't thrown in a month. Like there's just not enough pitching in college baseball.
Nick (01:20:13.61)
And then on the softball side.
I don't have y'all watched any of Texas Tech?
Neil (01:20:20.37)
Yes, Jason I've been following Jason Williams. Yes.
Matt (01:20:23.308)
Mia Williams is electric.
Neil (01:20:25.266)
Barstall Sports has been following Jason Williams around all weekend and it has been awesome.
Nick (01:20:30.474)
And they also they just throw the same two pitchers and they keep in the game and they go play first or they go play left field and it's like go face three batters and then they come back in and they switch again. Like the whole game.
Neil (01:20:43.27)
Some of these pitchers yesterday when they had to pitch two games were throwing two hundred pitches. Like it's not like it's not like we're I I mean, I I mean, I don't know how to throw a softball like how to underhand and ha I mean they throw a hell of a ball. Like it it's fast. It's they do curve balls and all the rest of it, underhanded. But apparently i the wear and tear on your arm is nowhere near an overhand. It's it's just different.
Nick (01:21:05.578)
It's a it's a natural arm motion. It's a natural arm motion. But throwing it like this is, but they're also doing this. They're also bringing their arm all the way back, which isn't a natural arm motion.
Neil (01:21:17.49)
I how do you like how do you throw two hundred pitches a day in normal baseball? You can only throw ninety or a hundred.
Nick (01:21:25.376)
They never come out. Like if you've got a good pitcher in softball, you can ride them the whole way. They never come out.
Neil (01:21:26.718)
They didn't come out.
Neil (01:21:31.41)
They pitched both games of a double header.
Nick (01:21:34.518)
Yeah. Yeah. But
Neil (01:21:37.896)
But no, I've been following the Jason Williams thing with his daughter. I mean, we all saw it last week with Florida, where she was hit five times. She used to play at Florida for three years, transfers to Texas Tech, plays Florida in the regional, gets hit five times, hits like the game winning was I don't know if it was a home run, or but she was involved in the game winning play, and Florida refused to shake their hands and there was a big drama around that. But yeah, going to the College World Series
Barstool's following him around, he's going nuts. She gets hurt she actually got hit by a pitch in her first at bat of the College World Series. But then hits the game winning walk off bomb in game one yesterday against Alabama and the same pitcher comes back and pitches a one shutout. And so they're on to the the the finals.
Nick (01:22:24.982)
Yeah, both teams won both games yesterday to get to the Cosworld series. and then Texas Texas has a story too because Hannah Wells is just over there just eating ladybugs for good luck. Just crushing ladybugs.
Neil (01:22:46.226)
Like, I'm all about superstition. Especially in ba a sport like baseball. Superstition is is important. I mean, I've done it. Like I'm I'm superstitious even as a fan. Like, you know, like if my if the Reds are on a five game winning streak, maybe I wear the same hat or the same jersey or the same shirt or the same pants or basically everything but underwear. Everything but underwear. But you know, superstition is important in sports. Fans do it, players do it. But eating a ladybug for good luck
Nick (01:23:03.372)
That's a normal superstition.
Neil (01:23:15.346)
Yeah, it's that's a little too far. It's a little too far. To me it's almost like bad luck, right?
Nick (01:23:21.366)
Well, isn't it good luck to see a ladybug? Isn't there Yeah.
Neil (01:23:23.942)
If it lands on you or something, you're like, this is good luck. To eat it, I feel like you're crushing the good luck, are you not?
Matt (01:23:26.614)
Yeah.
Nick (01:23:31.862)
Yeah, like I people say that when you see a ladybug, you that's kind of reminds you of a loved one that you've lost sometimes. Like there's a lot of positivity around seeing a ladybug. And she's over there just like a frog, just just just eating them. So she can get a double. So she can get a double in the game.
Like what are we doing? Like how does the how does that happen the first time? Because it's not a superstition the first time. The first time you're just eating a ladybug.
Neil (01:24:04.432)
No, it's not That's true. That is true.
Nick (01:24:08.928)
So what's what's going on there? And then you did it and what you gotta base it, and you're like, Well, now I gotta eat ladybugs all the time.
Neil (01:24:15.656)
Why did you eat a ladybug to be like you said, like how does it start? How do you eat a ladybug to begin with?
Matt (01:24:25.61)
I don't know. Not what not what
Neil (01:24:25.618)
You ever eaten a bug in your life? As a kid?
Nick (01:24:28.894)
Maybe accidentally. I don't not on purpose. No.
Neil (01:24:32.444)
Not purposefully. Like you weren't like a like an eight year old kid and you're like, look at this little fly. I'm just like No, nobody does. Nobody does that. Nobody does that. Especially when you're twenty twenty one years old, you're just eating ladybugs off the like, what are you doing?
Nick (01:24:38.572)
Absolutely not.
Nick (01:24:49.344)
Like I've not even eaten like the they do like chocolate eights and chocolate grasshoppers. I ain't eating that.
I knew that!
Neil (01:24:58.994)
Reach did that, I think, in Save by the Bell.
Nick (01:25:02.912)
Did it bring him good luck? Did he start hitting moms? Did he start getting chicks?
Neil (01:25:05.16)
No No No It's the weirdest superstition I mean I I it it's it's weird But are you super are you
Nick (01:25:15.286)
Like, how does Holly Road cause Holly Rhodes is one that broke it on the broadcast. How do you not ask, How did you eat the first one? How did this come to be?
Matt (01:25:20.92)
Mm-hmm.
Neil (01:25:23.688)
We need to know. The people need to know.
Are you a super Are you a super
Nick (01:25:28.042)
What made you put a ladybug in your mouth, chop it, and swallow?
Neil (01:25:32.808)
Are you a superstitious guy? Like when the Braves are making their run to the World Series, like three years ago, when the Braves are making their run to the World Series. Okay. Were you wearing the same shirt, same shoes, same hat? Yeah. Matt, what about you? You superstitious?
Nick (01:25:34.634)
Absolutely. Hundred percent.
Nick (01:25:40.362)
Hundred percent.
Nick (01:25:44.512)
Watch at the same place, like all all the things. All the things.
Matt (01:25:50.597)
a hundred percent.
Nick (01:25:51.552)
We work we all work in sports. We're gonna be superstitious. Sports are too big of a part of our lives to not be superstitious.
Neil (01:25:54.366)
That is true. That is true. I'm sure women's bad I mean Morgan
Matt (01:25:58.156)
I did I didn't have to change at halftime of the Super Bowl 'cause the Patriots sucked. Didn't help.
Neil (01:26:02.364)
Like women's basketball. Like as the S ID of women's basketball, I'm sure you're when when we're hot and we're we're rolling, I'm sure you're wearing something, right? Same something. Like if if we've won the first two games of a tournament, are you wearing the same anything? Shoes? Shoes?
Matt (01:26:12.632)
No.
Matt (01:26:17.336)
Maybe the same pullover. Maybe I'll rock I'll rock the same pullover, you know. Maybe.
Nick (01:26:22.07)
I mean usually we just wear the color the staff wears, right?
Matt (01:26:25.153)
Yeah, yeah, you could
Neil (01:26:25.66)
No, I know, but maybe the shoe what about the shoes? Like maybe the shoes are the same or
Nick (01:26:32.201)
I don't know.
Matt (01:26:33.356)
Now with basketball there's just too many games.
Nick (01:26:38.496)
You definitely you keep that note in there that keeps you winning in your game notes. But I don't know about I don't know about gear.
Neil (01:26:47.538)
We're certainly sure as hell not eating damn ladybugs.
Matt (01:26:50.636)
No.
Neil (01:26:52.574)
For that reason, I hope Texas loses.
Nick (01:26:53.546)
What if if eating a ladybug made you win bets in horse racing, would you do it? Like if you're like every time I eat this ladybug, I hit an Xacta. Are you
Neil (01:26:59.806)
What do you think they taste like? No.
Matt (01:27:02.52)
They're probably crunchy.
Matt (01:27:07.072)
a hundred percent. I'd do that.
Nick (01:27:10.335)
Amen.
Matt (01:27:11.565)
Uh-huh.
Neil (01:27:11.71)
And what's the payout? Are the cods getting involved?
Matt (01:27:14.516)
Ha ha ha.
Nick (01:27:15.572)
Yeah.
Like you're guaranteeing me I'm hitting a try. I'll you ladybug.
Neil (01:27:20.038)
Are they cost? wait, is the tribe gonna pay six dollars? Like what what's the tribe paying?
Matt (01:27:24.878)
Seven ninety five.
Nick (01:27:26.406)
I if it did, I'd probably quit eating those ladybugs.
Neil (01:27:31.196)
I would ate a l should we should we all eat ladybugs on our pick five the other day that we lost in leg four?
Nick (01:27:37.018)
we were close.
Matt (01:27:37.41)
Dude, I'm pitched that I rad. That was an awful route. I thought it was a y I I didn't know what he was doing with that run.
Nick (01:27:45.162)
Yeah, he just couldn't ignore it.
Neil (01:27:45.384)
We had a lot of coverage in lake five too.
Matt (01:27:48.926)
We did. We were we were on the nose that whole thing and it I mean, hey, if if you're gonna lose, lose on your single, I guess, right? Like
Nick (01:27:57.217)
And I feel like you have to pick a single at some on s on a five legger. You at you
Neil (01:28:01.234)
Yeah, yeah.
Matt (01:28:02.626)
Yeah. I mean it was nice the what was it, the third race? Our top four sh options went one, two, three, four.
Nick (01:28:09.868)
Yeah, we should have bat the super.
Matt (01:28:12.108)
I think it only paid like eighteen bucks. It didn't pay it didn't pay out well at all.
Nick (01:28:13.548)
Yeah, and and then what did the what did the pick five end up paying? Like two grand for a dollar bet? It would have been less than that for us.
Neil (01:28:17.051)
Lady got a e lady bug.
Matt (01:28:22.288)
yeah, two grand, but that was with a five to one horse. Yeah, we we it w it went off at one to one the horse that we had. The horse that won that race was five to
Nick (01:28:34.74)
And I will s our ticket wasn't c crazy like it was a well put together ticket. It wasn't crazy expensive.
Matt (01:28:40.076)
No, no I think I think you get four people. six minutes off. Yeah. That's that's that's reasonable.
Neil (01:28:42.182)
Only a part.
Nick (01:28:44.054)
Sixty four sixty four yeah, sixteen a piece.
Nick (01:28:51.34)
All right, Neil. So you're going on vacay tomorrow with the fam?
Neil (01:28:55.123)
Yeah.
Nick (01:28:56.744)
flight at six o'clock. So we need it's already almost eleven thirty. I gotta edit this thing. You gotta get on a flight in the morning. But we had a little issue at the pizza place that I think we need to we need to figure this out tonight.
Matt (01:29:09.134)
Yeah, what happened at dinner tonight?
Neil (01:29:12.068)
it's it's absurd. Absurd. Common sense did not prevail. There's not a lot of common sense in the world, but sometimes like you think that it should prevail, but it doesn't prevail. So we go to have you ever heard of the craft house pizza?
Nick (01:29:27.82)
A hundred percent.
Matt (01:29:28.866)
I've driven by it a ton. I've never actually been.
Neil (01:29:30.14)
Yeah, we got craft house pizza, right? So it's it used to be hometown pizza. I think the owners kind of split off. Same pizza, same everything. So we got a craft house pizza out here by our house. We we walked to dinner tonight as a family. It's walking distance, like a nice night out. Kids eat free at craft house on Mondays and Tuesdays. That's all the science says. Kids eat free. Whatever. Yada yada. We've we've had a lot of pizza. that's why we went there. It's Tuesday.
Matt (01:29:46.733)
Nice.
Nick (01:29:56.01)
I that's what got you in the door, right? Yeah.
Neil (01:30:00.157)
So
We've had a lot of pizza lately. You know, we had pizza this weekend. We went to Beer Nose and whatever. So like I wasn't really in the mood for pizza. Erica wasn't really in the mood for pizza. So we're like, all right. We sit down, we order an appetizer, get some some garlic bread and all that. Kids order their kids' meals. The both kids actually ordered pizza because they wanted pizza. Cheese pizza and the sausage pizza. I order a thirteen dollar twelve twelve dollar what did I get? The chicken alfredo had mushrooms in it.
It really good, very good. Ergo orders a strombel stromboli sandwich, twelve, thirteen bucks. So twenty five dollars say combined for our meal. Couple beers, check comes. Kids meals aren't aren't free on there. Like, okay. Well, aren't kids' meals supposed to be like, yeah, let me check on that, ask the manager. Kids meals are only free with the purchase of a medium or large pizza. I'm like, Okay. Okay. What's the cost of a medium pizza?
1999, 20 bucks. Okay. So we ordered $25 worth of food, plus an appetizer and some beers. Like, can you just, you know, like we we ordered we paid more than a medium pizza. Can we just make the kids meals free? No, we can't do that. Like, wait, what? Wait, what? No. Like, let me go ask my manager. Manager's like, no, like, we can't do that. They they said we can't do that. I'm like, well, who's that?
It's like, like the the company. I'm like. The company. I was like, okay. Well, like, like, do you have a like who's the company? Like, do you have like a contact? And like call them or something. yeah, let me get the number. The manager shouts the phone number from the kitchen. I'm like, what? She's like yelling the phone number from the kitchen. I'm like, what are you even saying? I don't even know what she's even saying. I'm like, Erica's like embarrassed. The kids are like embarrassed. I'm like, this makes no damn sense. The fact that I spent more
Matt (01:31:45.931)
my
Neil (01:31:59.218)
Than a medium pizza. And probably more than a large pizza to be honest with you on our two meals. Plus order two beers and an appetizer. And I can't get my two kids' meals for free. Make it make sense.
Matt (01:32:00.876)
Mm-hmm.
Nick (01:32:12.204)
Hmm.
Matt (01:32:13.162)
And it said nowhere nowhere on signage on the menu, like the asterisk with medium or larger pizza.
Neil (01:32:21.454)
N nope. I even saw the sign as we walked out. It did not say with the purchase of this or that.
Nick (01:32:21.846)
For and also
Nick (01:32:27.894)
But also, what the hardest thing to get somebody to do is to show up to your restaurant the first time. And you've got them there spending thirty, thirty-five dollars. They live across the street. Like even if that is your asterisk, you fix this, you make it right, and then you'll come back again 1000%. And now you're never going back.
Neil (01:32:39.674)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.
Neil (01:32:53.278)
Probably not.
Matt (01:32:54.808)
See, there you go, they just lost the lost the customer.
Neil (01:32:58.12)
Like it's it's like the man the man's like, I can't it won't let me do it. I'm like, man, I'm pretty sure you could void out of kids meal. Like, you're the manager here, like like the manager was absolutely the server was great. I don't know what the server's name was, she was fantastic. But the manager of the place was absolutely ridiculous, complete a hole. Like wanted no interest, I'm like, I can't do it, can't do it, they won't let us they won't let us do it. I'm like, who's they? Like, these people. I'm like, Okay, well what's their phone number?
Matt (01:33:04.098)
You can you can void yes, yes.
Neil (01:33:26.598)
And she shouts it from the kitchen. I'm like, What? Huh? Like, I can't even hear you. Like, what the hell are you even talking about? But then like yelling from the kitchen even draws more attention to the situation. Like, write it down, just write it down for me and bring it to me. So now I'm like, Well, what the hell is going on? And that you 100% as a manager of restaurant could void out a kid's meal. Like, not that bad. Like we paid it. Like, I don't think.
Nick (01:33:31.542)
I mean they just they didn't care and weren't trying to fix it.
Matt (01:33:34.956)
Yeah, they didn't they didn't give a rat out.
Nick (01:33:40.288)
And that was the person in charge of the whole place.
And that was the person in charge of the whole place.
Nick (01:33:51.57)
Or you can give or you can give you twenty dollars off next time you come, coupon. Like something.
Neil (01:33:56.078)
Something like I whatever, but yes, there is nothing on the sign that said, or even looked at it again as we left, that said with purchase of pizza, nothing. And I spent more than the pizza on the meals. We spent the my two meals were more than a medium pizza. Makes no sense.
Matt (01:34:07.694)
That's bad.
Nick (01:34:17.128)
It makes no sense. And just have common sense. Run it a business. You've got people there.
Neil (01:34:20.4)
And then And then they break the so the she brought the check originally, right? And that's when we noticed that the the kids mills were free. So she takes it back to the kitchen, whatever, can't do it, brings the check back. So then we're waiting to pay because they have a rewards program, right? Where you can reward earn rewards points based on your phone number. So my wife writes her phone number on the it's under her phone number, writes it on the bottom. We're waiting to pay the check. The servers, I don't know if she's embarrassed or what, doesn't come back for twenty minutes.
Matt (01:34:24.528)
Tuesday night.
Neil (01:34:49.234)
There is a QR code on the check that you can pay with, but you don't get your rewards points by doing that. After twenty minutes, we're like, well, what the hell? So we just paid on the QR code and got up and left to get the rewards points. The server is still nowhere to be found. I'm like, well, what the hell is going on? So Taylorsville Road.
Matt (01:34:49.531)
fuck.
Matt (01:35:09.295)
we're calling it out.
Neil (01:35:10.288)
we're calling it out. Taylorsville Road, Tyler Station, Krafthouse Pizza, F minus. Your manager sucked. Your server was great. I think she was just embarrassed that she couldn't come back to our table for us to pay the bill. Manager sucks. Krafthouse pizza sucks. I finally like found like a customer service thing on the website, I think. I don't know. I emailed him like this is bullshit.
Nick (01:35:18.826)
And it could have like easily could have been overcome.
Matt (01:35:32.066)
Yeah.
Neil (01:35:34.95)
Like I spent I spent more than your medium pizza give me two free kids meals 'cause that's what you're supposed to give me for a medium pizza. We'll see what happens.
Nick (01:35:43.99)
Yeah, that poor server. I mean, she probably agreed with you all, I would say. Yeah. So
Neil (01:35:46.759)
she no, she did. She I think she did.
Matt (01:35:48.002)
Yeah. Hey, I'll say this. Neil's bad you know bad spot to local restaurant. I'll give a good spot to local restaurant. Honestly, I don't know if you guys have done this, but I think it's the best deal in dining here in Louisville. Monday at Grassa Grama, $22 gets you a full size entree, a salad, and a glass of wine. And it's a rotating entree every Monday. Twenty-two bucks.
Neil (01:36:15.944)
What was this past Monday? I feel like you just been there.
Matt (01:36:19.132)
yeah, we were there yesterday. It was the it was the bolognaise. regatoni alla bolognaise. And then Hannah's favorite is the Caccio e Pepe, and that's next Monday, so we're going back.
Neil (01:36:30.366)
So they have like you know what's coming up.
Matt (01:36:32.94)
Yeah, so they they used to just announce it a couple of days before, but now they redid their website and they have like the next six Mondays. So you know what's coming. But it's great. It's a f you get full size homemade pasta, you get a choice of a Caesar salad or their chop salad, and then you get a glass of wine for twenty two dollars.
Neil (01:36:39.934)
Yeah. Okay.
Neil (01:36:50.646)
no.
Nick (01:36:52.268)
There you
Matt (01:36:54.424)
But you gotta make a reszi on open table 'cause they fill up. Even on a Monday.
Nick (01:36:58.642)
One yeah, I bet they do. but well that's why they're filling up on a Monday. one bad restaurant, one good restaurant. And are you all c how's traffic been since sixty five is closed?
Matt (01:37:12.67)
All right, so in a vacuum, I think we need another week to see because I feel like a lot of people actually took time off to avoid this the first few days. The morning is not the problem, it's the going home is the problem. Because I've noticed coming in
It's not as bad in the morning, but in the afternoon, evening, it's been tough because you just have these neighborhoods backed up with cars trying to get on the Waterson that would not be there if it wasn't for 65 being closed. Cause realistically, you have to get on Critton. If you get on Crittenden by the airport, you're stuck in the the rerouted traffic to get on 65.
Neil (01:37:41.95)
Yeah.
Matt (01:37:53.598)
Southern Parkway and Third Street back up because they're one lane roads. And then Preston you can't get on. They close the Preston to the Watterson East Ramp. And then Poplar is bac gets backed up too. So it's it's going home is the problem.
Nick (01:38:07.167)
Let's let's table it and we'll talk about it next week. See
We gotta we gotta get Neil to sleep. I gotta edit this dang thing. How when when are y'all back from vacay?
Matt (01:38:16.588)
You Neil might just take a nap.
Neil (01:38:17.512)
Maybe I just need another beer. Do I just need another beer? I'm in
Next wins no, next Monday. Next Monday. We're flying in early. We're flying in early so the kids get to their swim meet.
Nick (01:38:26.069)
So a short short short little trap. Short little trap.
Matt (01:38:30.207)
nice.
Neil (01:38:32.606)
Shout out to Harper for getting two gold medals yesterday in the first boat meet of the year.
Nick (01:38:37.963)
All right, let's go.
Matt (01:38:38.029)
Love that.
Nick (01:38:40.789)
How'd Benny do?
Neil (01:38:43.342)
She finished third, fourth, fifth, eighth, I don't know. Down the line. Down the line.
Nick (01:38:47.115)
Pretty good. You should know where she finished. my nephew won his T ball championship yesterday. Dude, they got nice rings. Like rings for winning their T ball championship. Valley Sports, they don't play, dude. They don't play.
Neil (01:39:04.008)
Bro, everybody gets rings. They're all like they'll leave a green they'll leave some green slime on your finger when you take off.
Nick (01:39:09.963)
No, they even like match their uniform colors.
Neil (01:39:12.107)
I'll bet.
Nick (01:39:14.155)
What do you mean you bet?
Neil (01:39:15.422)
I mean no, they're cheap. They're cheap r they're not rig like what are you talking about? Twenty carat gold with four four K diamonds in Like, what are we doing here?
Nick (01:39:18.123)
I didn't think they spent four thousand dollars on the rings.
Nick (01:39:25.163)
Okay.
Matt (01:39:27.138)
They're leaning rings, Nick.
Neil (01:39:29.21)
Yes. Bro, they're like what you get of the Mr. Gaddy's claw machine. They're like Mr. Gaddy's claw machine rings.
Nick (01:39:29.843)
The leading That is a good way to close this show. The leading range.
Matt (01:39:38.908)
I can
Nick (01:39:39.135)
We need to get Neil to bed.
Neil (01:39:40.764)
Go to Chuck E. Cheese to get those rings, bruh.
Nick (01:39:43.241)
We need to get Neil to bed.
Neil (01:39:46.6)
Got it.
Matt (01:39:48.588)
They're still are they still around?
Nick (01:39:48.895)
Gaddi Gaddies is so bad.
Neil (01:39:50.14)
There's one on yes, one on Dixie Highway or Preston Highway or something. South end.
Nick (01:39:55.467)
There's one hidden back there's th I don't I think there's still one on Dixie. There Dude, there's one in Moorhead when I right by the arena and it was so bad. It's just
Neil (01:40:00.7)
You gotta be careful when you go out there.
Neil (01:40:08.734)
Hey, go to bed. Go to bed.
Nick (01:40:13.598)
We're about to.
Neil (01:40:14.642)
Alright, commandment commandment on Saturday, boys.
Matt (01:40:18.136)
