Nick (00:01.714)
Let's do it.

We back inside Differential. That's the 6'6 0. I'm the 410 Nick. Homer Derby was last night. I I actually enjoyed the new format. We'll we'll talk about that. Well the Haskells this weekend. We will preview that and provide our picks for it. Chris Sims saying some crazy stuff about Tom Brady. We will we will get we will get into that. The World Cup, the British Open is all this weekend.

Neil (00:24.526)
Chris Simps. Chris Simps.

Nick (00:34.396)
What's been going on, Neil? We didn't we didn't do a show last week. You were going into you were off to San Diego. So w what's what's been good?

Neil (00:39.97)
Yeah.

I mean we haven't have we had a show since the fourth of July?

Nick (00:45.522)
We have not. We have not. And this wasn't planned either, so we just need to communicate better.

Neil (00:46.965)
may. man.

Neil (00:52.524)
I mean no, I mean what's what's let's give a little recap of that. Fourth of July, we w we went over to your crib, had had quite a few people over there. A little cookout. A little swim party. Swim party. Yeah. So appreciate you hosting us on that.

Nick (01:02.354)
Lot of people. A lot of people. I I would say my my thing is the kids with the with the the sparklers let's let's pick up next time. Let's not just throw all over the yard. Let's let's let's let's pick

Neil (01:16.076)
damn, I didn't know I didn't even know kids had sparkler. I missed out on the sparkler action.

Nick (01:19.696)
I'm still finding them. I'm still finding them. They're everywhere. So I know I know kids have a tendency to just throw stuff on the ground when they're done with it.

Neil (01:22.35)
Ha ha ha.

Neil (01:28.204)
Wait, are they sparklers? You mean the poppers? The poppers? Like the ones you hold? I missed out on those. Why are we doing sparklers when it was bright and sunny out at three o'clock in the afternoon?

Nick (01:30.63)
The sparklers. Yeah. Everywhere.

Nick (01:40.252)
Well, I I don't know. I don't know. It was I don't really remember the sparklers happening. I just saw on the ground the next day. So that they happened. I don't I was I was pretty much spent the whole entire day in the pool.

Neil (01:43.766)
Okay. Okay.

Neil (01:53.164)
Yeah.

Neil (01:58.423)
Same. Same.

Nick (01:59.687)
So wasn't aware of some of the activities outside of it. But good times were had. But yeah. But we took care of that. It was no big deal. It was it was it was a good time. It was good time. you were out in San Diego. We got to go to Petco.

Neil (02:12.738)
There you go. There you go.

Neil (02:19.768)
Great ballpark. Ten out of ten. If if anybody's ever in San Diego and got a chance chance to go check out Pecco Park in the Pirates or the Padres game, definitely do it. It's beautiful. They've got a huge like

square like a a like a like a town square type deal going on out s behind center field with the stage and you know, big like grass hill out there that people just bring their blankets, they sit on that hill and they watch the game and plenty of food and beverage options. We we the group I was with we rented out a a deck over in right center field that overlooked the field and had an all you can eat, all you can drink experience and it was it was awesome. Ten out out of ten. No, but the st

Nick (02:58.876)
Well anytime you got all you can eat and drink at an at any any event, it it's it's gonna be a good time. We we were lucky enough to do that on Sunday at the Isco.

Neil (03:10.05)
Yeah.

Nick (03:11.226)
at the eighteenth whole suite, little all you can eat or drink. And I

Neil (03:15.87)
You got bonus golf. D did you stay till the third playoff all?

Nick (03:18.682)
we we we aren't leaving. If if there's golf to be had and we don't have to be anywhere, we are not leaving. It was the seats were great. Well, I think we maybe had forty seven superlights and it was the first time I've ever indulged in superlights. It's it's Gatorade. It's alcoholic gay ray. They started running out of stuff, but I was drinking that already. But

Neil (03:32.216)
Super lights.

Neil (03:37.87)
Is that the way to go? That's the way to go, huh?

Nick (03:46.161)
No, it was it was a great time. It and there was a lot of people out there. I mean, obviously the names weren't they weren't all the biggest names in golf. It's a secondary event, but we got to see Max Homa finish up on eighteen and then and then the playoff, which got to we even got to watch them change the hole on eighteen after they they went through twice and both parred and they had to go run it a third time, then they changed the hole. We got to watch that too. But yeah, th no

Neil (04:09.72)
Change the hole. Yeah, yeah. Did the fans did did the fans cheer as he was hammering in the new hole? Yeah.

Nick (04:15.548)
They did. They did. And they had all had a bunch of super likes by that point. So But no, and then we were at the Kaufman's household on Saturday night who live their backyard points to what sixteen, seventeen. And that was a good time too. It was I wasn't in the town last year for the ISCO. I was out of town, so it was I was excited to to be there and be a part of it and they do a great job out of Hirschborne and I'm excited for it to be back again next year.

Neil (04:43.469)
Yeah. Yep.

Nick (04:45.692)
There's rumors there Vahal is trying to I think th twenty thirty four maybe for the next PGA. So

Neil (04:53.954)
Be nice. That'd be nice.

Nick (04:55.25)
I don't I don't know if I've got the exact gear, but they're de they're definitely in talks to to bring it back. But I the golf fans show up in Louisville for events and it was just they did a really nice job and I hope that Coach Wall

Neil (05:07.062)
That's good. I'm just I'm just glad nobody nobody got arrested on this one.

Nick (05:11.974)
Well, we we need to hope that nobody ever gets arrested for whatever the hell that was a couple years ago. But I just I hope Coach Walls I need to stay on top of him 'cause he did promise me that he would take take me out to to play Hirschborne, which I would love to do. So I just gotta stay on top of him because I mean, obviously it's a nice course.

Neil (05:33.379)
Yeah.

Nick (05:35.179)
home run derby was last night. I I think we can lead off with that. We had talked about, you know, the major league baseball game being the best of the big four all star games in our in our last show. And we had talked about how they were going to change the format of the home run derby. And it used to be ten ten outs, and then Josh Hamilton and Bobby Abreu both went off for like an hour apiece, where they hit forty bombs and they decided to change the format.

Neil (05:46.467)
Yeah.

Neil (06:00.866)
Forty hormones. Yeah.

Nick (06:05.244)
They then went to this time format where I mean we were a part of that in twenty fifteen when like I was in the dugout when Todd Fraser's just going off and I mean it's time, so you don't even have a chance to see the balls leave the yard. They're swinging again. So they finally d decided to move away from the time format. They went to twenty swings and you can't end on a home on a home run. So at the your last swing you hit until you're done.

Neil (06:14.702)
Yeah.

Neil (06:19.203)
Yeah.

Neil (06:28.547)
Yeah.

Nick (06:33.126)
Your overall thoughts. The the ending was great. The ending was great.

Neil (06:35.778)
Yes. The ending was great. No, I think they absolutely nailed it. They I think they finally have found the perfect home run derby solution 'cause as you said, the old school way where you got ten outs and you got dudes, you know, hitting forty bombs per per round.

you know, you it's a six hour home run derby and everybody's ready to go to bed. So that one took too long. The timing thing always felt rushed to me. As you said, like you never even got to s even appreciate where a ball even landed 'cause it was just pitch after pitch and you don't even know where to look. And it just felt like they tried to cram too much in. It was rushed. This it's not rushed. It's all swings. Twenty swings doesn't matter if you hit a home run or an out. And I love the fact that you can't end on a home run. So, you know, hit on unlimited home runs if you want to on that last swing, which Jordan Walker

probably still would be doing, if if they didn't make him go home after he won. 'cause I think he hit what six straight. Three of them with that or three or four with that that that last swing. So yeah. So I think they nailed it. It brought the drama to it, you know. Philly fans booing. The whole atmosphere was awesome. Love love Philly fans booing. And then Jordan Walker just ruined the party. Like it was they nailed it. The format was great. The atmosphere was great.

Nick (07:29.316)
It it was at least five. It was at least five.

Neil (07:49.206)
As well. Ten out ten.

Nick (07:50.118)
No, th th I I don't go I wouldn't go ten out of ten. I mean the the talent in the talent in the home run derby can be better. We can have bigger names. We can have bigger names. Like I know, but we don't need Wilson Contreras in in the run.

Neil (07:53.592)
I'll go two nine too.

Yeah y I don't know if you I mean I yeah, but I we haven't had bigger names in a while.

Neil (08:06.722)
The man hit the most bombs in round one.

Nick (08:08.642)
I I know, but like can we get bigger names? Like just try to get bigger names. I I get it Aaron Jackson's hurt.

Neil (08:13.204)
I mean it they I you don't think they asked these guys? You you don't think they asked these guys?

Nick (08:18.49)
I I maybe they do, but you like it's the it's obviously not as bad as the problem with the dunk contest in the NBA where you've got G League guys coming over and winning it. It's not that bad. But they can improve the quality of the guys in it. And and my other thing was twenty five percent of the guys are Phillies.

Neil (08:38.208)
It's the home run leader, first of all. You gotta include him. So what? Guy. Dude, t t Schwarber leads the league in bombs. So of course he's gonna get it no matter where home run derby is. No matter where it is. And Bryce Harper He's also he's also one of the best power hitters in the game.

Nick (08:40.358)
How many how many times do we have two guys from the same team in a home run derby? Even when they're hosting, it never happens.

Nick (08:55.62)
And then Harper's just act 'cause he's a Philly. And

And he's won it before. I mean I understand why, but twenty five percent of the field would

Neil (09:07.404)
You want but you're you're comp you're whining about wanting better talent and then you whine about A the the home run leader the home run leader is in the Derby and B Bryce Harper one of the faces. Bryce Harper's one of most popular players in the game. And you're whining about him being in the Derby?

Nick (09:15.28)
You swarmers in it.

Nick (09:20.004)
I agree. There's also other popular guys that aren't in this thing. Like I look they did they did decline. Like the it's not like they didn't ask. They got it the

Neil (09:23.562)
Th they probably declined. They might have declined. Harper only did it because of Philly.

Neil (09:30.85)
Harper Harper only I mean, Bryce Harper probably would not have done this anywhere else but Philly. But he's but that is a big name that you want in the Derby. Otherwise you're gonna replace him with another Wilson Contreras.

Nick (09:35.292)
Hundred percent. I agree.

Nick (09:43.332)
And look, I do get that I'm contradicting myself. I get it. But when twenty five percent of the field is one team, I just even though it's a home team, I just I don't know. It w it's not I and I agree with that too. And it maybe I'm talking about out of both sides of my mouth. I and I'm not a Phillies guy, admittedly, so that probably plays a role into this. I I d just think the talent can be a little better. I I like the format. I I think

Neil (09:52.704)
It it was deserved though. It was deserved.

Neil (10:03.522)
That's yeah, that's where the root cause is.

Nick (10:11.769)
You give twenty swings to everybody, you can't end on a on a home run, top four go to the second round. And then I like the fact that they went one v one in in the semis. And I you get to the final. I I do think it would have been better, and I know you can't really change this on the fly. I think it would have been better if Schwarber would have went last, having the hometown guy go last and know what number he has to get to. Instead, you've got Jordan Walker know what n what number he needs to get to. And every single time there's a

Neil (10:20.556)
Yeah.

Nick (10:41.723)
flyball to center field that hits the grass. The crowd's cheering.

So he had the entire crowd cheering against him, looked up against it, and it was fun. Like he started being really selective with his pitches, and I mean, hit five straight to win the damn thing. And you gotta give that guy credit for stepping into that environment and the first time he's ever done it and beaten the guy that everybody in that entire stadium wanted to win.

Neil (10:47.246)
It was kind of fun. That was fun.

Neil (11:13.902)
yeah. I mean the pressure was definitely on him. I mean not however much pressure you can have in a home run derby. but the pressure was on him and

you know, for a while it looked like he wasn't gonna be able to do it 'cause it got down to that last swing and he still needed three or four more home runs. And he was patient. He took three or four pitches until you know, as you should. That's what you should do in the Derby. Get the pitch you like and he unloaded. And it was cool to see his his his parents, his grandma, everybody there talking about, you know, like how he's loved the game since he was a kid and and all that. So good for him. Good to see his family. They were all proud of him. So and any i

Nick (11:51.548)
I hope they're proud of him. But like that but that's another thing too. Because it's slowed down, because it's not timed, in between pitches, you can go to shots of his family in the crap. And see their reactions in real time. Like you couldn't do that before with the timing aspect. There was just there was no time for the product producer to go to a different shot. It was either the guy swinging or the ball leaving the park. And that's another, I think, good thing about this format.

Neil (12:03.694)
Yeah.

Neil (12:18.861)
Yeah.

Nick (12:22.285)
Overall I thought it was good. That Netflix's first time they've ever had the home run derby, I thought the coverage was a little rocky in the beginning, but the coverage of the actual derby wa was good. And dude they I mean they had Barry Bonds and freaking Albert Pulhos on set. I mean they they they paid some money for this thing.

Neil (12:42.574)
Sure did. Sure did.

Nick (12:45.509)
Do you is there something that maybe the NBA All-Star game can learn from this to improve their three point shooting contest, their dunk contest, just their NBA All-Star Saturday as a whole?

Because I I think it was better and

Neil (13:04.92)
I don't know. I mean

Well, I i like the three point contest in the NBA. I don't know why the best three point shooters in the league don't participate. It's like you're just shooting the ball. You're not you're not even really doing anything athletic to hurt yourself. Dunk contest, you know, maybe you you you get hurt, maybe you come down wrong. I don't know, but it's to me it's low risk. I think they should they should do it. I mean guys back in the nineties weren't scared to do it. So I I don't know. They they do need to do something because nobody watches NBA Saturdays.

Nick (13:35.825)
I don't know how to fix a dunk contest. I just I don't. And there just there's not enough calib high caliber guys participating in it. I I do think that the three point shooting contest could learn something maybe from the the home run derby where the last ball, if you make it, you keep shooting.

Neil (13:59.204)
Yeah.

Nick (14:00.094)
And you've got another rack there just in case they keep going. And I mean, if Steph gets to the last ball and he's down five and he hits that money ball, I mean heck, it gets another one. And then he gets another one. And maybe you don't maybe you don't count them all too. But I think that could be an exciting at to thing to add to it. To remove the clock and then just let them go at the end. Or maybe even you change the format completely where you get five or ten misses and once or

Neil (14:10.766)
Yeah. Yeah.

Neil (14:22.541)
Yeah.

Nick (14:29.797)
And then once you miss, you're done. I don't know. I just I mu mainly think the last ball could be kinda cool.

Neil (14:35.682)
What if they did like a game of horse or something? Like dudes are have they I mean like dudes are shooting like half court shots or dudes are doing like Did they?

Nick (14:39.185)
Well they've tried all that gimmicky stuff.

Yeah, they've tried that. Like in the they've done that like in the parking lot. Like prior to the All-Star game with guys, I believe I think so. But th did you see what they did? They had like a three on three thing on what? I guess it was Sunday night. It was after the futures game. And basically it was just retired guys was a celebrity. And they moved the plate up past the pitcher's bound. So

And then they shortened the lines. But it was like a home run derby, but it was shorter. And then there was actually guys playing defense. And if you caught a ball beyond a line on a foul or on a fly, then you got a point that way. And

Neil (15:28.12)
Did this like did this take the place of the celebrity softball game? Okay.

Nick (15:31.408)
I think it did. And Andrew Jones was there with and he didn't hit a single bomb. He's just fat. And didn't hit a single bomb. But he did make some plays and caught some balls in the outfield. But they had like Shane Victorino and Jimmy Rollins and Andrew Jones and Ryan Howard. I don't know. Like it it didn't catch my attention enough to watch the whole thing. I will say that. But I thought I thought it was I mean it was different. They're trying something.

Neil (15:39.714)
He's old. He's old.

Neil (15:59.673)
Yeah.

Nick (16:01.601)
And I will say it I mean the AL's already up three in the first.

Neil (16:06.015)
yeah. They almost batted around. Yeah. They they sent s eight guys to the plate, I think.

Nick (16:11.365)
But let's just it's classic them wearing their uniforms. But w the fact that we ever got away from that is ridiculous.

Neil (16:19.51)
I agree with that. I agree.

Nick (16:23.973)
But I I think we both agree. The the best all-star game is sports, but a lot of people in our comments is like none of the all-star games are good, so it doesn't

Neil (16:33.452)
Mm. People in our comments are stupid.

Nick (16:38.098)
the British Open is this weekend.

Neil (16:46.455)
Yeah.

Nick (16:48.861)
last week they were in Scotland in addition to to being at at the ISCO. And Tom Kim got his first win since twenty three. Scotty Scheffler coming off the the win last year. The last major of the year, do you think we'll have a a repeat major winner? So you've got Aaron Rye, you've got Windham, and you've got Rory. Do you think one of those three guys?

Neil (17:19.054)
if I had to take a guess, I mean I'm gonna say no, we're not going to, but Rory McElroy, would be the clear choice I think to to be that person.

I mean he's the second he's the odds are second highest odds here. He's at eight plus eight fifty behind Scotty.

Nick (17:33.649)
Played well last week. Got off to a rough start on Saturday.

Neil (17:44.694)
Sorry, you were we froze for a second.

Nick (17:46.972)
There at Royal Burkedale. Like it's it's Tommy Fleetwood's home course, basically. Like he lives like ten miles away. Would be cool to see him get his his first major. But there's one story that I wanted to talk about.

Neil (18:04.558)
Is the Scotty Scheffler not making a cut?

Nick (18:05.147)
There's a guy named David Howard that no, he will he will make the cut. And dude, that streak, insanity.

Neil (18:14.496)
Insanity.

Nick (18:16.997)
What like when was the last time you didn't make a cut prior to last weekend?

Neil (18:23.342)
It's like twenty two?

Nick (18:24.73)
It was wild.

Seventy eight straight made cuts.

So the last time that he didn't make a cut was the Saint Jude in twenty two. Now to put that in perspective, to put that in perspective, Hill Irwin had a streak of eighty six, Jack Nicholas had a streak of one hundred five, Byron Nelson had a streak of one thirteen, and Tiger had a streak of one hundred and forty two.

Neil (18:38.67)
That's insane.

Nick (18:56.251)
So long way to go to get to there. I I wouldn't surprise me if Scotty goes and wins this week, but w I did th I mentioned one story that I wanted to share was David Howard has qualified to play at Ro Royal Burkedale this weekend. He was diagnosed with cystic fibrosis at seven years old. And he said he googled what the life expectancy was for somebody who has that and found out that it's

the basically your mid-twenties. So he's twenty-seven now and he's quoted by saying, I've passed my sell by date. he has to take medication every single day to do to deal with his condition. but he struggled with it throughout his life. He d and s like in grade school he started using alcohol to kind of deal with the things that you know that that he was dealing with.

he got very depressed during the the covet pandemic where he was basically just locked himself in his room because he was too scared that he would get sick from other people because of his weaker immune system. got out of that, returned to golf in twenty twenty twenty four, quit his job as a mechanic. Dude's a mechanic with with cystic fibrosis. but I mean the fact that I mean never heard of this guy, but just reading this story.

Like pretty remarkable and what an inspiration for this dude to overcome everything he's done to to qualify and regardless of what he does this weekend, w what an accomplishment.

Neil (20:33.088)
No, that's absolutely absolutely incredible of story there. And you know, I think he's gonna have a lot of people rooting for him, both at the course and and those from watching around the world. So incredible s story there o of perseverance and what he's overcome in his life and you know, hopefully he can continue to do this for several more years to come and and hopefully we'll see him back in the open, you know, next year and and in future years.

Nick (20:56.335)
Just how cool if he does get off to a quick start.

Neil (21:00.014)
I mean he's gonna have the f he's gonna have the support.

Nick (21:03.503)
He d he definitely will. And I let's see. He's probably like Ricky Fowler T's off at two thirty in the morning on on basically what is Wednesday night. So even I, the biggest Ricky guy, I don't think I'll be getting up at at two thirty to watch it. But I don't know. Just a really cool story. I I think

Tom Kim, the way that he's playing right now, he competed in the open. Like he've had a really rough year last year. Could be should be a guy to look at. And I mean his odds are still

Pr pretty good. I should have looked at that before we we got on here. But

Neil (21:49.267)
What Tom Kim's odds are. Let's see, Scotty's the favorite. Rory's second. Tom. Yeah. He's down the list a little bit. Hey, can we can I did you see the other cool story? The other cool storyline of the open? The Joe Dean. You heard of Joe Dean? He won the final qualifying spot for the open. His fiance.

Nick (21:50.875)
Yeah.

Nick (21:55.259)
Tom Kim's forty five hundred.

I mean the way he's playing right now.

Nick (22:05.593)
Mm. What you got?

Nick (22:10.723)
Okay. I have it.

Neil (22:17.654)
Emily Lyle is his caddy. They're getting married eight days after qualifying. So two days after the open ends, they're getting married on a Tuesday. And they pick Tuesday 'cause they're broke and it's cheaper to get married on Tuesdays. But got the final qualifying spot. If he wins, they can move it to a weekend and probably, you know, make it a little nicer. But one the the final qualifying spot with his fiance on the bag, they get married two days after the open ends on Tuesday. So

Nick (22:30.351)
maybe he'll win the tournament. Then they can move it.

Neil (22:45.548)
That's kind of a cool cool story there as well.

Nick (22:48.081)
So lot a lot of good storylines, a lot of good golfers. That's it's I get sad when it's last major of the year 'cause it means the season's coming to a close, but we do have the f the FedEx Cup championship coming up in in a couple weeks. We I was at Isco with Juice, our boy Juice, and I'm like, dude, let's let's go to Memphis for the Saint Jude. And he wasn't totally he wasn't totally against it. He wasn't totally against it. But

Neil (23:10.764)
He said no. Okay.

Who's your so you're go your official pick here, you're going Tom Kim?

Nick (23:20.267)
I I think he's real his his odds are worth the the risk. I I don't know if I'd go him as my top pick. Honestly, I I I might go Matt Fitzpatrick at fifteen hundred.

Neil (23:34.05)
That's that was yeah if Fitz Fitzy was gonna be my pick, but you you can have him. You can have

Nick (23:39.675)
Just the way he's been up there every week, I I think he wants to win this tournament.

Wyndham Clark at thirty three, the way he's been playing, is a is a guy that I would him Goddard up to. I think those are two guys that that I would potentially look at. They're both at plus thirty three. And and then and then I would go Tom Kim.

Neil (24:00.207)
See like

Like at what point I I'm getting off the Scotty Scheffler train. At what point is he just not gonna be the odds on favorite in in every tournament that's played? He's not playing the best.

Nick (24:12.037)
He's the best player in the world. So that I mean, I'm not taking him at seven hundred.

Neil (24:17.559)
No.

Nick (24:18.437)
I'm not taking him at seven hundred.

Neil (24:20.302)
Especially on a course like this, give me give me one of those, you know, Northern Ireland guys, give me one of those Englishmen, give me give me like the the Tommy Fleetwoods, the Matt Fitzpatricks of the world. They have a better chance of winning this thing than Scotty. Don't be wrong, Scotty's still good, but he he's not the same Scotty. He's not the same Scotty.

Nick (24:32.016)
Well

Nick (24:37.137)
But he also could he also could just turn into that Scotty this weekend. I I'm just not not at seven hundred. And and honestly, I'm not taking Rory at eight fifty and I'm not taking Fleetwood at fifteen hundred either. Like none of the top three. And then can we put quit putting John Rahm as a top five selection at the beginning of tournaments? When is that when is that gonna stop?

Neil (24:56.302)
I don't know why he's always up there yikes.

Good question. But there's there are guys on here that are playing better golf than Scotty Scheffler. He at some point he can't just be the favorite. He's not winning. He's not winning.

Nick (25:06.907)
I mean look, we've l The odds have learned their lesson.

But the odds have learned their lesson on Bryson. He's all the way down to 6,500. Why are we not learning it on John Rom?

Nick (25:24.687)
I don't but yeah, fet Fitzy is my top pick. I mean you can go Fitzy too. People say we agree too much, we might as well agree. We're supposed to d to force disagreements on our pod.

Neil (25:28.768)
I'm going fizzy.

Neil (25:35.832)
Well we already disagreed on your stupid take of too many Phillies being in the home run derby even though it was deserved. So we can agree on this.

Nick (25:41.541)
Yeah, I I kinda agree. It was a stupid take.

Neil (25:45.996)
We can we can agree on at least on our golfers. But your take on the home run derby was just idiotic.

Nick (25:52.163)
Any any chance you're getting up at two thirty in the morning to watch golf?

Neil (25:56.951)
No Zero I know one person Andrew Miller will be setting his alarm.

Nick (25:59.801)
Now look.

Nick (26:03.448)
I'd be better off just not going to sleep, but then you're then you're up till six o'clock in the morning. The the only way to do it is if you're just ate up with it and you figure out a way to go to bed at nine or ten o'clock and then you wake up at two. I will say I don't know if I've ever been to sleep at nine or ten in since I was a kid. So even when I have early flights, I just go to bed at early time and figure it out.

Neil (26:26.08)
No. But it's gonna But this I love th one reason I I love this golf tournament is because on Championship Sunday, you're waking up and the leaders are teeing off and you just and it's over by two o'clock in the afternoon. And this Sunday especially rolls right into the World Cup final. It's gonna be a great sports Sunday.

Nick (26:40.624)
Yeah, it's time.

Nick (26:50.072)
What is your most iconic British Open moment?

Neil (26:56.494)
I mean, does it everybody remember was it Vendeville that hit it into the water about a gazillion times? Chok choked it away. I mean that's that's the most iconic I mean that's gotta be the most iconic everybody remembers.

Nick (27:01.508)
Yes, at Karnewski. At Karnewski.

Nick (27:11.364)
I mean a hundred percent. A hundred percent that is when I think of the British Open, that is what I think of. And they they had a little documentary on it on golf channel. It's like an hour long. It like I'm sure you can find it somewhere, but I mean he just he it was like watching Ten Cup in real life. It was like watching Ten Cup. And then on top of it he hikes his knickers up and he goes into the little creek. Yes. He he

Neil (27:21.357)
Yeah.

Neil (27:35.83)
Tries to hit it. But then he decided not to do I think then he decided against hitting it. Yeah.

Nick (27:40.984)
Yeah. He took his he took his penalty. But do you remember who do you remember who beat him?

Neil (27:55.662)
It was like Greg Norman or something.

Nick (27:57.272)
Wasn't Greg Norman.

Neil (28:02.37)
John Daly? Is it John Daly's one? No. I don't know.

Nick (28:03.79)
Nope. It's not a huge name. Paul Lowry. Does that the name ring a bell at all?

Neil (28:11.694)
No, 'cause all anybody remembers was the choke job. They don't even remember who won.

Nick (28:17.978)
But yeah, definitely a iconic moment. And here's the thing on Sunday you roll you get to watch the end of the open and you roll that straight in pretty much to the World Cup final.

Neil (28:30.924)
My guy, I just said that three minutes ago.

Nick (28:34.328)
Does that just tell you that I don't listen to you?

Neil (28:36.364)
I mean clearly. I just talked about how great of a sports Sunday it is, 'cause it's gonna be over by two and it rolls right into the World Cup final and this Sunday is gonna be awesome.

Nick (28:44.866)
You know what I was probably doing at that moment? Making sure it was Paul making sure it was Paul Lowry. Making sure I was right. So I wasn't listening to you.

Neil (28:47.01)
Looking up odds.

Neil (28:54.187)
I can't with you.

Nick (28:55.524)
I was making sure it was Paul Irie. But no, great, great Sunday. And I don't know. Like you're still watching the Cup now that USA's out, right?

Neil (29:05.368)
Yeah, I watched I watched the France and Spain game today and I mean I thought France looked unbeatable in this tournament and Spain just came in and dominated that game. It won it two nothing.

Nick (29:18.936)
It I I was able to watch the end and France had a couple of chances there at the end to get on the board. And even there was the empty net there for a second, they couldn't figure out a way to to score.

Neil (29:29.326)
I mean, it is incredible for Spain and th we've played now what, six games? Three group stage games and I think three in the knockout round. And they only have one goal against them. One.

That's insane.

Nick (29:42.906)
Well, they're in the final, so they've played thirty two, sixteen, eight and four. Yeah, so they played seven. Yeah.

Neil (29:47.778)
Yeah. Eight. They played four. So they played seven games and only have one goal against them. I mean I feel like that's gonna be your World Cup champion right there.

Nick (29:58.465)
And then yeah, what Argentina and England in in the other final. See if Messi can do it again.

Neil (30:04.343)
Yeah.

This is his last World Cup, right? Man, I don't think it's been officially announced but he ne yeah he hasn't I guess officially said it and he's still dominating. So maybe not.

Nick (30:09.112)
It ha I mean we thought the w we thought it was four years ago.

Nick (30:16.058)
I mean here's the thing, dude. We used to compare him to Ronald r like Ronaldo, right? Who's who's the best in the world? And it's n it's like he separated himself entirely. Like, it's not even a conversation anymore. Like it's it's messy. Like you're asking me tough soccer questions. I mean I guess that's a that's the problem when you start talking soccer, 'cause you gotta act like you know stuff. Messi started

Neil (30:30.946)
What's the age difference there?

Neil (30:35.35)
I don't know. It doesn't matter.

Neil (30:43.085)
Football.

Nick (30:45.708)
Messi is thirty nine and Ronaldo is

Nick (30:55.578)
Forty one, so he's a little bit older.

So I guess that's reason for it, but I don't know, I've really enjoyed the World Cup. And I I hate the fact that these semi games are at three o'clock during the week 'cause it makes them tougher to watch. If you have a meeting at three o'clock, it's hard to watch the game. I wish they were at night. I get why they're not because people all over the world are watching them and it's in prime time. But normally we don't care about that kind of stuff here in the States. And we just put on at we put on at eight o'clock and we don't care.

Neil (31:25.23)
Which is selfish.

Or just selfish.

Nick (31:29.838)
And I'm I'm honestly kinda surprised like I get it on Sunday being in the afternoon. But I am on I'm kinda surprised that these games aren't at seven, eight o'clock on on Tuesday, Wednesday night.

Neil (31:39.5)
Not everything's about you, Nick. Not everything's about you.

Nick (31:43.066)
What's it's good for us to to realize that sometimes, but I don't know. It just I 'cause I didn't get to watch hardly any of the game today. And now there's only t well, I guess there's three left 'cause there's a third place match.

We didn't really get to talk much about what

Neil (31:57.187)
Do why d why do they do that? Like who cares? Why do they do a third place match?

Nick (32:01.53)
They do it in the Olympics too, because you gotta get a bronze, but that

Neil (32:03.842)
I mean, yeah, you get a bronze medal, but like what nobody cares about third place in the World Cup.

Nick (32:08.676)
Do they get any kind of medal? Then they're so you only care about the bronze and the Olympics?

Neil (32:10.712)
Probably, but who cares?

Neil (32:15.074)
Yes, because there's an official medal count in the Olympics. That's how you know which country has won the Olympics is how many medals you've won. So yeah, you do actually have to play a third place game.

Nick (32:20.954)
What would you so I would imagine that some countries would rather finish third than fourth.

I mean like if the US got there, nobody like who cares? But I mean we hadn't been on s since the US game last week. Like I and we don't need to go in depth on this because like we're not soccer aficionados, but it's clear that they're not as good as Belgium, right?

Neil (32:28.438)
It's a matter.

Neil (32:50.626)
No, they're not. I mean, I bit that's a there's a reason in the world rankings that their US is ranked, they sixteenth and Belgium was like ninth. So we th we weren't expected to be. I mean we had the momentum. We thought we were better than you know what we were, we were favored. We had rolled through pretty much did really well in the group stage, except for that last game against Turkey that nobody really cared about. You know, you win two nothing and you're opener in the knockout stage, you've got some momentum. You get Balagoon back off the red card suspension.

Nick (32:52.249)
And

Neil (33:20.418)
You know, you got the momentum, you got the home crowd and Belgium just just showed their domic. They showed how much

Nick (33:26.416)
Like they USA had to play as good as they could possibly play and they didn't play anywhere near that. And they get the one free kick that was amazing to to tie it and then Belgium was like, Alright, we'll just score here in two seconds and make y'all look like idiots And and then

Neil (33:40.13)
Yeah.

Neil (33:45.955)
Yeah. I mean Balagoon really didn't do much in that game. I mean, I don't even know where Polsick was all tournament. I mean, I don't think he he actually was good in it. Yeah. Other than that he kinda went away. the defense and goalkeeping on that that game last week was I don't know what the goalie was doing coming think what are we doing? No, but that game he was, and then defensively against Belgium

Nick (33:52.91)
Well he no, he was really good in the first game. Against Paraguay he was really good.

Nick (34:06.32)
I mean ju they made a bad play. Like he wasn't terrible throughout the tournament.

Neil (34:15.104)
Awful. Like they didn't press the ball at all. Like it was just Belgium just did whatever they wanted. I don't know.

Nick (34:16.794)
Look, just that last goal that it made a three to one and it like if it's two to one and you've played terrible the whole game but you feel like I have a chance at the end, it would have been more exciting. But just being down two, it just it was just like, all right. What Yeah, it was bad. Well, I didn't even know you couldn't grab it outside the box. Like that's the thing. Like we're we're learning, right?

Neil (34:31.82)
The goalie tried to kick the ball and just missed, kicked the ground.

Neil (34:41.186)
You also can't grab it if your own guy kicks it to you. okay, at least you knew that. But yes, you can't grab course you can't grab it outside the box. I knew that when I was a kid.

Nick (34:43.63)
You ca I knew that.

Nick (34:48.858)
Like if but it it had already been touched, so I didn't like I don't know, I didn't play soccer growing up. I've never had that issue on FIFA.

Neil (34:55.48)
So you think the goalie can just go to the other end of the field and just grab the ball?

Nick (34:59.984)
I mean it wouldn't make any sense for him to do.

Neil (35:01.236)
It wouldn't make any sense, I know, but y by your logic it's possible.

Nick (35:05.754)
Like to me, like so he had it inside the box where he could grab it, he fumbled it outside of the box, and then I guess I it makes sense why you can't do it, but I it just didn't cross bump.

We learn a little bit more about soccer every four years. A little bit more. So that would that wanna be that wanna be in the bank in four years. I'll know that. I'll know that.

Neil (35:21.806)
Just like hockey. Sam's It's just like hockey. We all become hockey fans once every four years, and same with soccer.

Nick (35:31.246)
Yeah, I I don't know. But I I think overall it was probably positive for Team USA. I think they got to about where everybody expected them to get to. And now you just see what this does for the growth of soccer in the US. I think the the ninety four World Cup and even what the Women's World Cup in ninety eight I I think were crucial to the growth of soccer in this country and we'll see if if there's an improvement in the quality of

Neil (35:51.405)
Yeah.

Nick (36:01.604)
football i in here in four to eight years.

Neil (36:04.78)
Are you going to show this level of enthusiasm for the United States next year for the Women's World Cup? We going out to Saints and in the bars and putting our USA gear on and acting like hooligans?

Nick (36:11.407)
Yeah, we

Nick (36:16.964)
Yeah, I mean I bought my jersey for eighty bucks. We ain't gonna retire it. We'll br we'll break now I'm not gonna buy a women's jersey in a in a year. I will bring the the men's jersey back out. But yeah, w I mean I feel like we're always invested in the women's world cup. Are we not? And we can actually win the damn thing.

Neil (36:20.27)
Yeah, there's the

Neil (36:33.932)
Yeah, usually. I know that that's one that's that that's my thing, is this one we actually could win.

Nick (36:42.148)
I we'll get into that I I got one question. So the Wimbledon just rapped. And what center won two in a row? And then it yeah, Linda Noscova. Linda Noscova won on the women's side.

Neil (36:47.822)
Yeah.

Neil (36:52.076)
Yep. So Czechoslovakian all Czechoslovakian final. Yeah. Yep.

Nick (37:00.944)
Like I I kind of enjoy watching women's tennis more than men's because it it's a three s it's a three set instead of five. Like the five set is such a commitment.

Neil (37:07.074)
Shorter. Yeah, I agree. Yeah. I agree with that.

Nick (37:15.354)
But do you think tennis is the sport where a female and the male equivalent are as equal as they k do So like

Neil (37:29.186)
I I know I I see I hear I know what you're saying.

Neil (37:37.336)
Does bowling count?

Nick (37:40.081)
Don't I mean look, there's a ball. But yeah, I I think a female could beat a man in bowling. Cause precision and power really I mean they matter in bowling, but you can get away without of it without that. So I would agree with you, bowling probably is is more equivalent.

Neil (37:47.554)
Yeah, I well I'm trying to think.

Neil (37:56.055)
Yeah, I

Neil (38:00.141)
Yeah, not golf 'cause men just physically can hit the ball further. So women are at a disadvantage at golf.

Nick (38:04.962)
And and I think golf is one of the closer ones to argue. Like now look, the

Neil (38:10.656)
If if you allow the women to play play up, it's like as long as they if they try to play the same distance, like the from the tips, then no. I think I think the women you gotta give the women the advantage. But if if the women play from their normal Ts and the men play from their normal like y it kinda equals it out.

Nick (38:20.122)
But tennis, you're playing it from the same spot.

Nick (38:30.608)
But if if they're playing for the women's tease, yes. But I I if you're trying to say that I'm just as good as a man, then you shouldn't be able to do that.

Neil (38:38.55)
No, I agree. Yeah. No. yeah, I mean I guess I guess tennis would have to be it. Besides like I said, bowling or darts or something. I don't know.

Nick (38:48.592)
Which I mean

Yeah, and we're I I guess we wanna stick this to to mainstream sports because yeah, you could get into table tennis, right? You could get into badminton.

Neil (39:01.902)
What about skiing? Skiing?

Nick (39:06.5)
I don't know that much about skiing.

Neil (39:09.398)
Like a downhill race like a Lindsey Vaughn and like beat like Bodie Miller or something? Like

Nick (39:11.194)
I don't know if a female skier is faster than a a men's skier. I don't know.

Neil (39:15.478)
Like Peekaboo Street back in Peekaboo Street's prime 'cause she beat, you know, like Bodie Miller or whoever the the men had out there? I don't know. I don't I I I

Nick (39:28.324)
I don't know. But like the biggest difference in tennis is going to be the serve. And from everything I've read, it's about a fifteen to twenty mile difference in a in a top serve from a from a man to a woman, which is a lot. And and then every other strike is is I mean, the men's shots are gonna be faster than the women's. But I I think it's the sport where a woman has the best chance to beat a man.

Neil (39:40.674)
Man to woman. Yeah, that is a lot.

Nick (39:59.545)
If you're playing straight up. Like golf, yes, but not if they're playing from the same tease.

Neil (40:04.47)
No. Yeah. Trying to think of some of these other Olympic sports.

Nick (40:10.746)
Well and you've named some. Like I I agree bowling and I agree like yeah, but we're if you're sticking mainstream

Neil (40:17.784)
Yeah.

Yeah, I guess I would have to say tennis.

Nick (40:21.924)
And they they also did the battle of the sexes in tennis, right?

Neil (40:26.83)
prob yeah, maybe along like a little made for T V type deal. Yeah, I think so.

Nick (40:31.95)
Yeah. It would but it was Billie Jean King, right?

Yeah, Billy Jean King defeated well, a fifty five twenty nine year old Billie Jean King f defeated a fifty five year old Bobby Riggs in straight sets.

Neil (40:47.586)
Me. Okay.

Nick (40:49.77)
It in nineteen nine in nineteen seventy three.

So I think a twenty nine year old versus a fifty five year old is probably eliminating to the male to female advantage. Probably a little bit. But I don't know. I was in my physical therapy last week and tennis was on and we just started talking about this. So I was like, that'd be something to talk about on pod. And I agree with you, like darts and all that, yeah. It but that's

Neil (41:04.268)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Neil (41:23.202)
Yeah, I guess.

Nick (41:23.504)
It'd be like saying it'd be like saying poker or

Neil (41:30.732)
Yeah, not sprinting. I don't feel like there's any tracker and field events that would that would favor the women. Yeah. No. I think it's gotta be tennis. Yeah.

Nick (41:40.474)
mean you could look into like I I maybe skiing, I don't know. I don't know enough about

Neil (41:44.297)
Swimming swimming?

Nick (41:47.108)
I just think the men are gonna be faster.

Neil (41:48.79)
Yeah, they are faster. Yeah.

Yeah. Tennis.

Nick (41:55.632)
You wanna get in the Haskell?

Neil (41:56.951)
Sure.

Nick (41:58.779)
So we got the grade one Haskell coming up. We we are disappointed that we were not seeing the height differential's favorite horse Golden Tempo as as he's battling in the sniffles. And it looks like he's pointing towards the Traverse. But we do have a seven horse field in the 59th Haskell at at Monmouth Park, right off of Jersey Shore. Five past winners have gone on to win horse of the year honors. The most recent to do it was authentic in in 2020.

American Pharaoh did it in in twenty fifteen. We will go through the the field. there's I think there's five horses maybe in this field that could win. Two I would probably eliminate very quickly. but we start off with Starsweeper, ridden by Luis Rivera, trained by Lewis Linder. And he's what thirty thirty thirty to one?

Neil (42:41.634)
Yes. Yes.

Neil (42:55.96)
Thirty to one? Yeah.

Nick (42:59.45)
Definitely the and deservedly the longest shot on the board d we does this horse deserve any consideration?

Neil (43:07.958)
No, zero. Zero consideration. but you know, if we say he has zero consideration, that means he's probably gonna get up at least maybe for first or second, 'cause we don't know what the hell we're talking about on here. So anyways, star sweeper, either I mean he's the clear outlier. I mean he he's both of these nine starts, he has two wins, both came as a s in sprints as a two year old. His other six stakes races, he's lost all of them by more than ten lengths. He's got low speed figures. I mean

He's just doesn't belong with some of these other names in this field. No chance. He's gonna finish dead last.

Nick (43:44.955)
I yeah, I I just look at this and I'm not I'm not even sure how he's in this field. I I think perhaps there's not a lot of speed in this race. Maybe he tries to get a lead and or even just to be up front and tries to hang on, but I don't see it happening. dude, like you said, six stakes races and ten links back in all of them. I I I think we can toss Mr. Starsweeper. We then go to further ado.

Neil (44:02.573)
All of them.

Neil (44:08.429)
Yeah.

Nick (44:11.568)
He's going off a two to one. Irat aboard. Brad Cox is the trainer. Finished eleventh in the derby, but then came back and rebounded with the win and the Matt win a couple weeks ago. Source was I think went off as the favorite in the derby. Your thoughts on further ado.

Neil (44:28.259)
Mm-hmm.

Yeah, I'm glad we get to see him again. y he is the favorite in this race. Good jockey with Irad on on on board and and a really good trainer in Brad Cox. as you mentioned, he won his last race, the mile and a sixteenth at the in the Matt win by two links at Churchill.

I don't know what to make of that 11th place finish in the Derby. As you mentioned, he he was if if he wasn't the favorite, he was one of the top two or three choices. You know, he was the trendy pick because he'd won three of his previous four starts, including that 11-length win in the in the bluegrass going into the derby. so a lot of people were really high on him. And, you know, things happen in the Derby when there's a 20-horse field, so maybe it just wasn't his day. But, you know, his speed figure, he's the he's the fastest horse in the field with a speed figure of a 107. I mean, he's

He's the favorite in this race for a reason. I mean I definitely have him as a as a top win contender.

Nick (45:23.268)
Look, I I you just you look at this horse and you eliminate the Derby and I think he's clearly the the best horse in this field. And I think in a race where you've got twenty horses, you've got a hundred and fifty thousand people in the crowd, you don't I mean, just things like this are gonna happen to good horses sometimes. And so I I think it's a automatic toss. I Brad Cox

As a trainer, I think is a huge plus. He won the Haskell with Mandaloon in twenty-one. He won the Haskell with Cyberknife in in twenty-two. And I mean, to me, this is a horse that you absolutely have to consider to to be for the win. And coming off a win in the win, he he kind of proved that the the the Derby was a fluke.

Neil (46:09.9)
Yeah.

Neil (46:13.357)
Yeah.

Nick (46:15.772)
In the three-hole we have Baby Vino, 15 to 1 ridden by Jorge Vargas, trained by Lindsay Schultz. this horse needed five wins to get its get its first victory, but it's kind of yeah, five starts to get its first victory, but it's turned into a winner here recently. Your your thoughts on Baby Vino?

Neil (46:30.146)
Five starts.

Neil (46:37.836)
Yeah, he got off to a slow s slow start in his career. As you said, he was, you know, 0 for four and then he now comes in winning two in a row. he won a mile and a sixteenth on May first at Oaklawn and he won again in his last race on June thirteenth by ten and three quarters lengths at Monmouth. So you know, this is gonna be the best competition he's faced. I don't there's not really much, you know, known about him when it when it comes to to running against some of these other quality horses. So he's kind of a wild card. He's coming in hot.

I I don't think he's got a chance to win, but you know, I he I guess maybe him sneaking into third somehow.

Nick (47:15.63)
Yeah, he he really is. But he he's on obviously on the improv in improve. I mean he won by ten, almost eleven links in in that in his last race at the Pegasus Stakes, which was on this track, w which which I think is is an obvious plus. I I think there's a chance that like I like I said with at the beginning, there's not a lot of speed in this race. I I think he could potentially try to get out front and

Neil (47:23.01)
Yeah.

Neil (47:39.872)
Say it.

Nick (47:44.611)
And maybe hang on and I think maybe he could have the talent to do so. I think he's gonna be overlooked in this race and you're gonna need to look for somebody to provide some value because you're not gonna get it from further ado, and you're not gonna get it from other some of these other horses that we're about about to talk about. So I do think that baby Vino is a horse that you should consider for your exotics.

Neil (48:05.709)
Mm.

Neil (48:12.994)
Yeah. I mean he's got a decent speed fee. He's ninety nine. so he he's up there with some of the qu the other these other horses like the you know, like the Napoleon Solos and and and the Pumas and the Iron Honor. So I mean he's up there with the rest of when it comes to his speed. So he's he's unknown, but I think he's got a he's got a chance to get in the money.

Nick (48:32.59)
Yeah, I mean it does concern me that it's his first graded stakes race. Like this is a big jumping company. but I I I my main thing is he's probably gonna be around that fifteen to one number and could be somebody that's worth throwing into your your tries. Or even maybe your exact is. The Puma is back. A lot of buzz on this horse in in the Derby. Would look like he might potentially go off as a favorite or be close to it.

Neil (48:35.874)
Yeah. Yeah.

Neil (48:48.973)
Yeah.

Nick (49:00.91)
He's 7-2 on the morning line. Luis Sayez gets the reins as Javier Castellano is out with injury. Gustavo Delgado is the trainer. This was your horse in the Derby until he was scratched. Are you back on the Puma train?

Neil (49:12.993)
It was.

Neil (49:17.74)
I mean I I I l I I I was on the Puma train at the Derby. I'm not off the Puma train. I'm still still riding and aboard. Still got my ticket. You know, he you said he was one of the top contenders in the Derby until he got scratched, with that skin infection. he won the f the Tampa Bay Derby, finished second to Commandment, which you know, we've talked about Commandment plenty of times on the show. He finished second to Commandment by a nose in the Florida Derby and you know, we know how good Commandment is. You know, it's his first race in more than three and a half months, which is a little concerning.

you know, coming off an injury. I don't know if how the how ho how he'll react to that and and what what he'll be like, but I liked him in the Derby for a reason. I still like him here. He's he's a win contender for me.

Nick (50:00.549)
He's already beat further ado once. I mean, look, my main thing is the three and a half month layoff. And you know, it's it's not like he was just sick. Like this was a skin infection that that led to him to be to being scratched. I I think this horse is gonna get bet too. he had all that buzz for the derby. I think the buzz it is going to follow him here.

Neil (50:08.204)
Yeah, that's that's the question.

Neil (50:17.902)
Swelling. Yeah.

Nick (50:29.964)
I think this horse could win the race. I do. But if I'm trying to win money, I think this is a horse that I'm probably going to lean away from. Luis Sayez has won the Haskell twice, so I that's that's a positive. But I just in a seven horse field, you're gonna have to leave some horse out that is going to be one of the favorites. And just because I haven't seen this horse run in three and a half months.

I think he's gonna be the horse that I leave out. It is difficult to do, but

Just that's a long layoff where we haven't seen him go.

Neil (51:07.448)
There's a lot left. Yeah. No, I I understand that one.

Nick (51:11.792)
And in the five-hole we have Iron Honor, three to one on the morning line, Flavian Pratt aboard, Chad Brown, the trainer. We just talked about Puma being your horse in the Derby till he got scratched. This was your horse in the preakness, if I remember.

Neil (51:27.746)
Yes, Iron Honor was my choice in the Prignes, and he came up just a little short to Napoleon Solo, lost that race by one and a quarter lengths. but you know, he's proven he's a good horse, and you know, he already he has a grade win, or he has a grade three win in the Gotham Stakes, when he opened his career with back to back wins. He was the favorite. Looked like he was cruising into the Wood Memorial, was the favorite in the Wood and

Just didn't have it that day. You know, he finished a disappointing seventh, which, you know, everybody kind of kinda was down on him, missed the derby. and then, you know, shows back up in the preakness and was one of the favorites there. And and, you know, he ran a good race. He just got beat by a horse that was just better that day. So, you know, he's got decent speed. I think he's definitely I don't think he's gonna win this one. I think there's a few other horses in here that may be a little better. but I would have him in my try selection.

Nick (52:14.157)
Yeah.

Nick (52:19.608)
Yeah, they in that wood, like he was the favorite, but got was f far outside gate at the beginning, got bumped a couple of times and really just wasn't able to run his race. That I do think it's harder to ignore him finish seventh in the wood and than it is to finite than to ignore further ado finishing eleventh in in the derby just because that race is such an outlier.

Neil (52:44.108)
Mm-hmm. Yeah.

Nick (52:48.388)
mean this horse was coming on strong i in in the in the preakness and nearly got solo. Now we're going what, we're going a mile and eighth instead of going a mile and a three sixteenth here. I think this is a horse that you have to probably consider in in your in your supers or in your tries in in your exactes. he's I mean, he's raced what, four times in his life?

And twice he's he's won and he proven that he can win at a greatest stakes level with that win in in the Gotham. And so really he's only had one pro bad performance. So you gotta figure out do I wanna toss the wood or do I think that is who this horse is. I'm not I'm not having this horse as a win contender, but I do think you have to c in include him in your tries and and your exactus. N Napoleon Solo in the six-ho, five to two on the morning line, Paco Lopez.

Neil (53:41.452)
I would agree with that. Yeah.

Nick (53:47.907)
Aboard Chad Summers is your trainer. He's coming off his wind in the Preakness, which we have talked about how we think that Preaknessfield was not all that great. Are you riding with Napoleon Solo?

Neil (54:00.995)
Yes, I am r I am riding with Napoleon Solo. I think this race sets up really, really really well for him. we talked about his win in the Preakness. You know, he did beat Iron Honor, who's also in this race. We talked about that. as a two-year-old, he won his first two starts by a combined over eleven lengths, including six and a half lengths in the grade one champagne stakes. So, you know, he's got he's got some some big races under his belt. He's proven he could win them. As a three-year-old, he had a bruised foot, which then

That could be pointed to why he didn't finish in the money in those back to back races. So when he's not healthy, you know, obviously he didn't run well, but when he got healthy again in the preakness, he he won. So, you know, he's got tactical speed, which, you know, with the with the lack of pace in this race r plays into his hands and it's this kind of race is a is a is a race that kind of favors those kind of running styles. So, you know, he's got a speed figure of ninety nine, which is one of the highest in this race. I think second behind further ado. So I think his running style, when he's healthy, he's won. He's

plays right into his hands, I think he's a win contender.

Nick (55:06.094)
Yeah, I mean this horse at as a two-year-old was looked at as one of the best two-year-olds in the crop. And yeah, and leading up to the preakness, I get it that this horse struggled kind of at the start of his three-year-old year, and you you had mentioned a little bit why with with the bruised foot. I couldn't ignore this horse in the preakness because of how good he was as a two-year-old.

Neil (55:15.598)
Who's dominating?

Nick (55:34.581)
And I just thought, like you're saying here in this race, I just thought because there wasn't speed that this horse had, you had to include this horse because he could get out front and maybe wire the field. And that's ended up being what happened. And I mean, this horse has already earned over 1.5 million. So he's proven that he can win big races. I think this is going to play out a lot like the Preakness play.

And because of that, I I mean I I was on this horse in the preakness. I'm not gonna jump away in this race when I think it's gonna be kind of the same pace setup. I I think Napoleon Solo is is a clear win contender in this race.

And then finally we close with everybody's favorite horse, O'Celly. Seven to one, Tyler Gaffley on aboard. Wick Betman is your trainer. This horse has nine starts and enters the Haskell still as a maiden.

W your thoughts on O Sully?

Neil (56:46.55)
I mean, it's the horse that just keeps on trying. There's no quit. I mean, nine starts and he hadn't won yet, so he's gonna keep on giving it a go. He's finished in the top three in three different graded stakes races. So, you know, he's obviously he's close, but it's one of those close but no cigar type deals. You know, he finished third in the derby. He kind of reeked a lot of chaos down that stretch run in the derby and you know, kinda knocked a few horses around and and ended up getting up for third. You know, he ran in in the Ohio Derby in his last start, finished second to Chip Honcho.

And Chip Honcho was a horse that ran in the Preakness, so a pretty good horse there at the end of June. this horse did run in the preakness as well, finished fourth. He's a closer, and with the short dist shorter a little bit of a shorter distance, this race not really favoring closers. I think third's probably gonna be his ceiling. I don't see him really factoring in in the top two.

Nick (57:41.069)
No, and really he's the only closer i in this field, which and it I don't think it's gonna be a super fast pace. But I mean, how often do you see a horse that has competed in the Derby, competed in the preakness, all been what, third, third? He's third, third, fourth, second in in his last four races. And I just this ain't gonna be it. This ain't gonna be where O'Celly breaks his maiden. I just And honestly, I don't

Neil (58:07.822)
I don't think so.

Nick (58:11.652)
Like if I'm trying to find somebody who's gonna close in and finish in the money, I I don't I think this is gonna be the race where he doesn't finish in the money. I I think he finishes fourth or worst and I am not putting this worst in in my tries or my exactus.

Nick (58:33.124)
So I guess we'll your top three in order.

Neil (58:38.296)
Okay.

Nick (58:39.246)
And before we get to that, we we normally have Matt on the show when we have horse racing. He couldn't jump on tonight. He didn't give us our top three, but he did say that his pick to win is the Puma. Are you following? Are you rolling with your boy the Puma?

Neil (58:54.282)
I really want to, but no. I I I'm not off the Puma train. It's just the three and a half months, I just don't know how good he's gonna come back from that. I think he he can be a gr a great horse. I just know if he's gonna do it in his first race back. I'm not gonna go with the Puma to win. My win bet is gonna be Napoleon Solo. I got Napoleon Solo on top. Give me further ado in the Puma in the try, second and third.

So give me solo. Ado. Puma.

Nick (59:29.306)
So I I wanna roll Napoleon Solo. I don't think there was a horse as good as Further Ado in the Preness. And I I do think Further Ado is going to run Napoleon Solo down. Now, will Napoleon Solo hang on for second or third? If I'm trying to win money, I want to say no. Because

They are going to be going off, I think, as the first and second choice. So who is gonna come in second if it's not Napoleon Solo?

Nick (01:00:15.148)
where like it's the hard way to find like I think you have to put baby vino in

Neil (01:00:21.602)
I'll say put if if you wanna win money, now if you if the goal here is to win some money, you got I'd put baby Vino in the try.

Nick (01:00:28.912)
So, and then if you do that, then I think you can go a do solo one, two, and then just have Vino try to clean up the scraps and and to finish in third, and that might be where I lean. I I also look at Iron Honor, but I'm like, dude, his odds are gonna be right around the same as Napoleon Solo. And who do I like better? I like Napoleon Solo. You already beat him once. This is a shorter race. So I think what I would do is I would

Neil (01:00:38.062)
Correct.

Nick (01:00:56.79)
I would box further ado and solo one, two, and then go and then go baby vino in the three-ho, but for my official pick, I'm gonna go Ado, Nap Solo, and Baby Vino.

Neil (01:01:13.368)
Baby V.

Nick (01:01:13.644)
I like there here's some

Neil (01:01:16.866)
But are you going baby but you're going baby Vino just for the value, right? You do you or do you think he's a better horse than Iron Honor?

Nick (01:01:24.336)
I'm going because of the value.

Hundred percent. Like if I if you made me pick a third place horse just on quality.

Neil (01:01:34.634)
That's what I did. I mean, I didn't do it for value, obviously, because that trifecta that I said would pay nickels, like

Nick (01:01:43.418)
Yeah, I would I would probably go Iron Honor.

Neil (01:01:47.148)
Honor over the Puma.

Nick (01:01:48.516)
Yeah, just because of the three and a half month layoff. But no, I I I wanna go baby veto my my official third.

Neil (01:01:50.52)
Yeah.

Neil (01:01:56.108)
Okay.

Nick (01:01:58.896)
I think he's on the pr improve, he's proven he can do it at this track.

This there have not been a lot of upsets in in this race. let's see. Favorites have won twelve of the past twenty-one. and only three Haskell winners since nineteen ninety-two have started at odds of five to one or higher. And fifty-five of the past sixty three top three finishers have started at single-digit odds. So

This is not a race historically that you're gonna get rich off of. So your your try there makes a lot of sense. It's just it ain't gonna it ain't gonna pay much. It ain't gonna pay much. But excited for another big race.

Neil (01:02:49.878)
Yeah.

Nick (01:02:55.213)
Really, it is just I really I really wanted to see Golden Tempo try to go shorter. And look, I know people have commented he's gone shorter to the past. He hasn't done it against c horses of this caliber. He hasn't done it against horses of this caliber. So just to get that straight.

Couple of th more things to close. I I was telling you about and we'll close with a little football here. Cause Chris Sims is just trying to go viral. This is just an effort to try to go viral. You list a list of top ten quarterbacks in their prime. So this is he's saying this is when their quarterback was at the best. This is my top ten. And Tom Brady is not one.

Neil (01:03:36.59)
Mm-hmm.

Nick (01:03:43.738)
Tom Brady is not two. Tom Brady is not three. He's not four, five, six, seven, or eight. He ranks Tom Brady as nine. And to try to say why, he said if you put him in some other situations, I don't know if it would looked as pretty. I'm not sure you could do more with less. Brady's amazing, but he's not extending plays. He needs pass protection. Like, just goes on and on. Like,

What what are we doing here?

Neil (01:04:15.022)
I mean I I it's what you said. I think it's his attempt to try to try to stay relevant and and go viral. Because like who's listening to Chris Sims? Nobody. I mean, like look at the the names that he has above Tom Brady. Lamar Jackson, Aaron Rodgers. Yeah. What? Lamar? Zero. Dan Marino, zero. Aaron Rodgers has one. Yeah, like Aaron Rodgers ahead of him. Brett Favre won one Super Bowl. John L. Way, a couple.

Nick (01:04:27.737)
How many Super Bowls do you have?

And Rachel does one.

Neil (01:04:43.212)
Josh Allen, no Super Bowls. Peyton Manning, two Super Bowls. And Patrick Mahomes, a couple Super Bowls. I mean, first of all, Tom Brady's number one. I mean, there's just not even a debate. It's just stupid that he would even argue this. But to put some of these guys ahead of Tom Brady is just asinine. Like Lamar Jackson is Josh I mean he's an MVP, but no. Lamar Jackson is not better than Tom Brady. And I love Lamar Jackson. I don't like him now that he's Raven, but no.

Nick (01:04:59.833)
Josh Allen. Josh Allen.

Never even got to a Super Bowl.

Neil (01:05:13.517)
No.

Nick (01:05:14.819)
And then you just randomly throw one old guy stall back in there.

Nick (01:05:20.803)
Just randomly at ten, I'll throw in Roger Stallback.

Neil (01:05:23.47)
boy.

Yeah, no. Like Peyton Manning in his prime was great. But how many times did he lose to Tom Brady? A good amount.

Nick (01:05:30.883)
Yes, he was. Right. And but dude, they were toe to toe. Like, let's don't act like Tom Brady in their prime. Like they were pretty equal. They were pretty equal. Now, Tom Brady did it for a lot longer and won a lot more. And that's why there is separation and why he is the goat and Peyton Manning is not. Now, if if you're arguing in their prime, that maybe you could argue head to head, Peyton because he's the only one that really did it against Brady.

Neil (01:05:36.354)
They were. They were. They lost Spain Main too. Yep, they were rivals, yeah. Yeah.

Neil (01:05:47.96)
Exactly.

Neil (01:05:51.875)
Yes.

Nick (01:06:00.144)
But the rest of those names, take off the list. Take off the list. And still even and still even if Peyton Peyton would be too behind Brady, even if you think it's close.

Neil (01:06:04.172)
No. Niggas Lamar Jackson

Neil (01:06:12.898)
Yeah, like Lamar Jackson in his prime, probably on maybe on the downs slope of his prime right now, no Super Bowls. Josh Allen in his prime, no Super Bowls. Aaron Rodgers in his prime, one Super Bowl. It's it's not comparable. Like it's just a stupid take. It's a stupid take by a stupid guy that's just trying to stay relevant. It's it's a bad take.

Nick (01:06:31.982)
And then you

Nick (01:06:38.315)
He got ta he got taken off NBC's coverage too.

Neil (01:06:41.216)
he should. 'Cause that's just like well t yeah, if he had that take, I'd take him off the coverage as well. Because it's just dumb. Have smarter people on your coverage. Have the height differential on your coverage.

Nick (01:06:42.605)
Not for this, but

Nick (01:06:50.296)
And then

Yeah, and Joe Burrow Joe Burrow didn't make the list.

Nick (01:07:02.575)
Yeah, I would too. Especially if you're talking about in their prime when and being healthy. Yeah. But with just a an asinite list.

Neil (01:07:12.065)
It is dumb less.

Nick (01:07:14.713)
Like the lowest Tom Brady can possibly be on that list is one.

Like there's no other option. And I would think even people that aren't fans of Tom Brady would agree with that.

And he was able to extend his prime to the in his forties and still win Super Bowls.

Neil (01:07:38.104)
Just goes to a different team and wins the Super Bowl.

Nick (01:07:40.451)
Like your when your prime is twenty years, you deserve to be one on that list.

Neil (01:07:44.056)
Pretty good. Yep, I would agree with that.

Nick (01:07:48.087)
just

Unbelievable. Joe's got a what would Joe do for us?

Neil (01:07:55.649)
Okay.

Nick (01:07:56.579)
Did you read it before him?

Neil (01:07:59.011)
something about hands and feet and

Nick (01:08:00.592)
Alright, here we go. Hands and feet, hands and feet. It's a would you rather?

Every time you hiccup, your hands and feet switch places for an hour. And then they revert back. I guess. Though maybe the they switch. Yeah, they then they revert back. Or every time you yawn, you don't understand English for an hour. So you hiccup, and then that next hour, your feet are your hands, your hands are your feet. And then you yawn, and I couldn't understand a word you say for the next hour. Which one you pick up?

Neil (01:08:36.716)
I t I'm still trying to comprehend how like what you do like if your hands are on your feet and your feet are on your hands, like what what you what are you supposed to do? How you just walking on your hands? Like I I don't really understand that one, but I mean, just give me the give me the yawn and I don't understand English for an hour.

Nick (01:08:47.065)
I don't think you could I don't think you could balance that.

Neil (01:08:55.564)
a lot of times I'd probably like to tune some people out anyway. So just give me a yawn. Like like if if I'm in a like if I'm talking to you and like I've got no interest in talking to you, I'm just gonna yawn and just tune you out for an hour.

Nick (01:08:55.64)
And what what's

Nick (01:09:04.771)
Yeah. Yeah, but what if what if you're tired, you're getting to work, you got a meeting at eight thirty and it's it's a big important meeting and you yawn and then you gotta pretend like you know what they're saying for the the next however long in this meeting and you're gonna look at a dumbass because you don't have a clue.

Neil (01:09:23.694)
No, because there's an agenda. Usually there's an agenda that's sent out. You kinda get like you kinda have like a little bit of an idea of what the flow of the meeting's gonna be. And even if if it if that's the case, can you s you just gotta suppress that yawn? You just gotta go mm or just get a good night's you got a big meeting coming up. You got a big meeting coming up? Maybe you get a couple extra hours of sleep that night. You're not going to bed at midnight. You're going to bed at nine nine PM. You get your full nine, ten hours of sleep. You wake up you wake up refreshed.

Nick (01:09:46.199)
When's the last time you did that? When's the last time you did that?

Neil (01:09:49.078)
Well, if I had a big meeting on the line the next day and I knew that if I yawned I wasn't gonna understand a damn thing that they say, I'm probably gonna get tucked in a little earlier that night.

Nick (01:09:53.241)
Yeah.

Nick (01:09:57.584)
That's that's one of the smarter things you've ever said on this show. And it shows growth, and I'm proud of you. here's my thing.

Neil (01:10:02.83)
So I'm gonna take the yawn. My my official vote though is the yawn. I'm gonna yawn and not understand a word you're saying.

Nick (01:10:07.757)
Here's my thing. I hiccup way, way less than I yawn.

Neil (01:10:14.22)
Yeah, sure.

Nick (01:10:16.153)
So I mean honestly now I'm probably gonna get the hiccups all the time, but I can't remember the last time I had the hiccups.

Neil (01:10:21.954)
What if you're on a date and you hiccup and then all of a sudden you got shoes on your hands and your feet are on your hands are down by your ankles and that girl's gonna be like, What the hell? That girl's gonna be like, dude, what is wrong with you?

Nick (01:10:29.145)
Well what if I'm on a date and I'm bored?

What if I'm on a date? she's hot, but she's boring and I accidentally yawned and now I don't understand what she says for an hour, which actually I don't know, might not be a bad thing. Yeah. Right. I I'm a hundred percent going hiccup, hands to feet. I'm going hands to feet. Like I I don't know how I'm gonna walk. Like I I guess you'd figure it out if it happens every once in a while.

Neil (01:10:40.248)
You just said she's boring, so th you just tune her out. You just you just look at her eyes, Nick. Just look at her eyes. Eye contact.

Neil (01:10:55.372)
You just look a look like a damn weirdo.

Nick (01:10:58.499)
Well, I mean, do we not already? A little bit?

Neil (01:11:01.774)
This is all new low though for you.

Nick (01:11:03.117)
Not that not that weird, but yeah, I'm I'm I just because I hiccup less, I'm I'm going hiccup.

Neil (01:11:09.39)
Well what if you hiccup at the wrong time?

Nick (01:11:14.605)
What like what causes hiccups?

Neil (01:11:18.677)
Air, I don't know.

Nick (01:11:20.409)
I don't know. I just when's the last time you had the hiccups? Do you know?

Neil (01:11:23.928)
Been a hot minute.

Nick (01:11:25.805)
And it's and like you can't just stand upside down and drink water and get rid of Like you've still got hands and feet switched for the next hour.

Neil (01:11:32.386)
Yeah, you gotta hold your bre I yeah, get rid of you hold your breath. That's what I usually try to do.

Nick (01:11:35.299)
But it doesn't matter. You st it's still an hour. You've gotta you gotta deal with it. Like I

What are you looking

Neil (01:11:44.726)
What causes hiccups?

Neil (01:11:49.657)
Hiccups are involuntary spasms of the diaphragm, the muscle that controls your breathing. When it twitches, air rushes in, forcing your vocal cords to instantly snap shut. Cons common everyday triggers include eating too quickly, drinking carbonated beverages, no, consuming alcohol, and sudden temperature shifts, or experiencing emotional stress. So y you don't hiccup a lot, but they do increase when you're you're drinking.

alcohol which you you partake in quite frequently. So there is there is a chance that you could be, like I said, on a date, you know, you and your date are sitting there, maybe drinking some wine, maybe a couple of cold beverages, and you hiccup and the date's over because she thinks you're a weirdo.

Nick (01:12:21.369)
Partage.

Nick (01:12:35.033)
Just just give me a date. Like, let's just I'd take anything. Like, whatever. I'll take the chance. Just just give me a date right now. yeah. I would just try real hard not to hick up and then if I hick up, at least I could understand what she was ex saying and I would explain to her why my hands became my feet and why my feet became my hands.

Neil (01:12:53.863)
Or like when you're filling out your dating profile, you just look for the girls that have hand or foot fetishes and then you're golden. Then you're golden.

Nick (01:12:59.913)
Dude, also, like, if your hands is feet, you could just kinda sit back and if the date goes well. If the date goes well, if the date goes well.

Neil (01:13:08.346)
I don't know I don't wanna know where that's going. That's going the wrong direction.

Nick (01:13:15.651)
So I I think it's an easy choice. Easy choice. You're you're just gonna get fired in your next meeting when you yawn. Then you'll be without a job. You'll be without a job. Maybe maybe it's one of those spare of the moment meetings. You you were out at Baranos till two o'clock and then they come in and say, Hey, we got a meet in fifteen minutes and you're exhausted and you're trying to fight it and then all of a sudden you yawn and they're like, Neil, we we need answers and you're hearing them in and you're hearing in Arabic.

Neil (01:13:22.838)
I'm gonna get a good nice sleep. I'm gonna take a nice little get

Neil (01:13:40.322)
Be in the meeting be in the meeting with my mouth well Well here's what but but but but but can you put on the translator app on your phone?

Nick (01:13:52.663)
think so. I think I would be cheating.

Nick (01:13:59.682)
In this in this fake made up scenario, you cannot put on Google Translate.

So you're stick you're sticking with it?

Neil (01:14:07.704)
Sticking with it.

Nick (01:14:10.339)
What you looking forward to the most this weekend?

Neil (01:14:13.9)
We'll see. This weekend. I don't know, is the weather supposed to be nice? If the weather's nice, we're coming over to your pool, I believe, right? Have a little little soiree on Saturday. Trash your yard again.

Nick (01:14:20.217)
Are we? yeah we are. Yeah we are. Looks like seventy percent chance of rain.

Neil (01:14:27.324)
great. no, good sports weekend though. We talked about it. Good sports weekend. Like you said, we've got the Haskell, we've got the open, we've got the World Cup final on Sunday. So we've got a lot of exciting things going on this weekend in the world of sports. Looking forward to that.

Nick (01:14:42.743)
Is like all star break is a tough week in sports. There's just not a lot to watch at night. Like the like I you know, I've got this I've got the setup in my basement, right? With the three TVs. And I've got had some buddies come over and watch the derby. There's no nothing else to even to put on the above TVs. The only thing in town is is the home run derby and then you put on summer league. There's nothing else.

Neil (01:14:49.378)
Got the SPs tomorrow. Don't they usually come on?

Neil (01:14:55.491)
Yeah.

Neil (01:15:07.758)
I mean, I I figured on your three T Vs you'd probably have Love Island, you'd probably have maybe The Mass Singer or something like that and you know maybe Home Run Derby after that.

Nick (01:15:18.521)
Love Island's over. Are we d is that official?

Neil (01:15:21.73)
Ju according to juice, I don't know.

Nick (01:15:25.059)
We watched an episode of Love Island. We will admit to it. Yeah, of of course. But s some it's super popular, like crazy popular. but yeah, some random Friday night we watched an episode of Love Island. I think it was live, wasn't it? Close to live or it was And all our members the host is address.

Neil (01:15:27.092)
One episode. The only episode I've ever watched, too, by the way. It's a good episode.

It is. Yeah.

Neil (01:15:41.388)
Yeah. Yeah.

Neil (01:15:48.792)
Yep. Couldn't even tell you the names of anybody on the show.

Nick (01:15:51.13)
Nope. That host is d it was a green dress. It was a it was green. I remember that. it was good dress. It was good dress. But yeah, I I don't know how anybody could have the time commitment to watch Love Island five nights a week.

Neil (01:15:53.977)
Good dress. Yeah. It was green. It was green.

Neil (01:16:09.742)
That's that's insane.

Nick (01:16:11.405)
Now look, if you love it, I get it. It gives you something to look forward to every single night and you're more power to you. But no chance in the world. Have you ever watched Huh?

Neil (01:16:15.446)
Yeah.

Neil (01:16:21.912)
How do we get you on Love Island? How do we get you on Love Island? We gotta get you on the show.

Nick (01:16:27.179)
I I don't think I'm I think I got a better chance of being on a reboot of Beauty and the Geek.

Neil (01:16:33.582)
You're not geeky enough though, bruh. You're not geeky enough.

Nick (01:16:33.955)
How do we how do how do we how do we get me on Beauty and the Geek? I can play it up.

Neil (01:16:38.072)
You're not geeky enough. No, you can't. You're not that smart. You're not that smart.

Nick (01:16:42.787)
I can play it up. I'm pretty close to being a geek. I'm pretty you don't have to be smart to be a geek. You just have to be not go.

Neil (01:16:51.394)
You gotta be nerdy, you gotta know like like you gotta like into Dungeons and Dragons and crap like that. Like You can't be into sports. Guess what? Geek like beauty and the geek, the geeks know nothing about sports. You know too much about sports, so you're you're off

Nick (01:16:56.419)
that. I hate Star Wars.

Nick (01:17:02.455)
That's true. Can you not be a geek by knowing too much about sports?

Nick (01:17:09.753)
Can but let's can we gotta bring that show back. We gotta bring it back.

Neil (01:17:09.774)
You can't tell sports at all.

Nick (01:17:18.293)
And I mean it's the best dating show I've ever like it's just hot chicks and and hilarious dudes. Like and it I don't it needs to come back. 'Cause I'm not I would watch that. And it's not gonna be on five n times a week either. It's one once a week, which is the commitment for a television show that that I need. Not not five nights a week. But and

Neil (01:17:27.982)
I agree.

Neil (01:17:45.582)
I'm still trying to catch up from last season of Grey's Anatomy. And that's on once a week. That's on once a week. And I'm yeah. It's on once a week and I still have like the last eight episodes of last season to watch before it starts up again.

Nick (01:17:49.485)
You still watch that? You still it's still going?

Nick (01:17:59.256)
It's the it's continuing more.

Neil (01:18:01.87)
Yeah, there's a new season coming out. September probably September. I guess usually when the new season starts.

Nick (01:18:06.895)
It's been on since when?

Neil (01:18:09.526)
Since I was in high school, I think. Twenty two season. I think we're on like twenty two seasons maybe.

Nick (01:18:14.815)
The characters are still the same.

Neil (01:18:17.678)
There.

Neil (01:18:21.214)
It's still about four.

Nick (01:18:25.965)
Never seen an episode.

Neil (01:18:26.126)
I think there's like four from like the OG episode one. I think there's like four of

Nick (01:18:29.859)
Never seen an episode. I mean, it's gotta be close to like a it's gotta be a record for a non cartoon series.

Neil (01:18:36.889)
no dude. Like those soap operas have been going on for like forty years. I don't know.

Nick (01:18:39.678)
d those don't count though, do they? So primetime, this is primetime show. Has to be a record. Has to be a record for a primetime show.

Neil (01:18:44.172)
Yeah. No, I think it's got yeah, it's got me up there. Non car yeah. You said non cartoons. yeah, no Simpsons. Yeah.

Nick (01:18:52.239)
Don't you just give it

Nick (01:18:56.259)
Just give it up. And read the Wikipedia breakdown of the episodes.

Neil (01:18:59.254)
No, trust me. Trust me. I want the show to be over. I'm done watching it. I don't wanna watch it anymore. But when you've committed twenty two years to it, you gotta just keep going. You can't be a quitter. I'm not reading recaps on Wikipedia.

Nick (01:19:08.099)
Did you just hear what I said, dude?

Nick (01:19:12.249)
Read the Wikipedia recaps. Save yourself. Look, how many episodes you still have to watch? Eight for this season and then a whole nother season?

Neil (01:19:14.326)
No. I've I've done this for twenty two years.

Neil (01:19:21.91)
No, eight and that would be caught up. And then a new season will start. Yeah.

Nick (01:19:24.653)
And then and you're gonna be back and ready to watch that one again. When you're already miserable watching it.

Neil (01:19:29.954)
Yeah. Yeah.

I mean, we're twenty two years in, we gotta keep going.

Nick (01:19:36.951)
And and you quit watching Jury Duty, the comp the company retreat?

Neil (01:19:41.43)
Yeah. The origin the OG the original Jury Duty was good. Company Retreat's just too stupid. It's just way too stupid.

Nick (01:19:49.612)
the first one was awesome. If you haven't watched Jury Duty on Amazon, watch it, 'cause it's awesome. So then they come back and they call it Jury Duty again because that's what it was called last year, but it's nothing to do with court or jury duty. And it's just this company going on company to retreat. I will say it's nowhere near as as good as as the first version.

Neil (01:19:54.734)
is good.

Neil (01:20:09.792)
And how the dude the temp worker that comes in and then all of a sudden is now in charge of like running the company retreat after being there for two days just doesn't have anything in his like he ha like it's just so much stupidity that he has to know like it's like an episode of punked. Like I'm this is a reality show. Like there's no way that this is real life. There's nothing about that that he he should be able to think that this is real life. Unless he's just that stupid.

Nick (01:20:33.247)
What what what are you supposed to do? That's it like just leave?

Neil (01:20:36.194)
Yeah, dude, where's the cameras? Like this is no way this is real.

Nick (01:20:39.343)
He says it on the show. This has to be a T V show.

Neil (01:20:43.126)
Yeah I mean he's right. Like the OG jury duty like was believable for the most part. There were a few times where I'm like, Well that's like how they like this guy's gotta be thinking something, but the OG jury duty was actually believable.

Nick (01:20:56.481)
I yeah, I mean it starts off with the f his freaking HR guy like proposing to some chick that he didn't even date. Like that's the beginning of the show. Like it's but I mean I see what they're trying to do. But they

Neil (01:21:14.4)
I I it's got good concept, but it's just so bizarre.

Nick (01:21:18.635)
Is it not rude to the person?

But like I they make money, right, for going through it. I don't know how much money they they get a good little size check. But like this dude thinks he's really meeting these people and developing like friendships and they're all just fake. They're just f fake humans. And he's like I don't I just think there's some like do I think it's funny? Yes. But there's also a part of me I'm like, this is kinda messed up. They're putting this dude through this.

Neil (01:21:28.558)
Yeah.

Nick (01:21:52.505)
So you're but you're done. You're not you're not turning it back on.

Neil (01:21:56.396)
Nah, nah, I'm off that one.

Nick (01:21:57.466)
So you're done with with company retreat, but you will fight through Grey's Anatomy until the end.

Neil (01:22:02.466)
Yeah, correct.

Nick (01:22:06.223)
Alright, well so you're on Nap Solo and I'm on further ado. I do think those would be the top two horses. We both picked those to finish one two just in different orders. Huh? Both go we maybe we do agree too much.

Neil (01:22:12.163)
Yeah.

Neil (01:22:21.196)
Both on Fitzy.

Neil (01:22:27.81)
We can talk about the home run derby again if you want. And just I can just call you stupid for the next twenty minutes, but

Nick (01:22:31.417)
Do I just need to start inventing segments where we gotta pick a side and just start yelling at each other?

Neil (01:22:36.386)
Yeah. Yeah.

Nick (01:22:38.617)
Maybe we're we're on episode fifty one of season one. We're about a month away from the start of season two. Maybe we'll try to figure out some ways to 'cause we do plenty of that at the bar and I feel like we don't do that as much here.

Neil (01:22:53.304)
Well start drinking on these podcasts.

Nick (01:22:57.101)
You've done it before and it's been a couple of the better episodes.

A couple of better episodes. But alright. Forget don't forget to follow the height differential on whatever social platform you like to use. And then rate, leave a review on Apple, Spotify. What do you use? What's your what's your podcast provider? I'm an Apple guy too. Because we're agreeing again. God, we're we're just

Neil (01:23:03.128)
Yeah.

Neil (01:23:20.707)
Apple.

Neil (01:23:25.486)
I mean I have an iPhone, I have an Apple products, of course I'm gonna use the Apple.

Nick (01:23:30.415)
Four to six six Neil. I'm the four ten Nick. We appreciate you listening. We'll be back next week. We'll talk to you then. You

Nick (01:23:41.997)
We do do we just agree too much?

Neil (01:23:46.632)
We're we're but we're not talking about anything controversial. We're picking horses and we're picking golfers. Like we're smart, we know sports, we know who's probably gonna win.

Nick (01:23:56.633)
We're smart.

Neil (01:23:58.67)
We're smart, we know sports.

Nick (01:23:59.609)
We don't know horse racing.

Neil (01:24:03.851)
No, we don't know horse race. You're right.
