Nick (00:13.55)
We're back, it's the height differential. That's the six six nil. I am the four ten nick. Episode number fifty three somehow. It's fifty three of these damn things.

Neil (00:28.061)
It's a lot.

Nick (00:29.944)
We we'll talk Jackson Coivan. Dude is third pro start, gets the win last week at the 3M. We will talk LeBron to the Sixers. I think we got thoughts on it. And then we got the Dandy.

Neil (00:45.047)
Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.

Nick (00:50.648)
You spent the weekend at the lake. How how was that?

Neil (00:53.955)
the lake was great. The lake was great. I mean any time that you know, you get some sunshine, a boat, some water, and some some cold brewski's, that combination right there, it's hard to beat. It's hard to beat, you know. appreciate Joe Ziggler for inviting us down. You know, we had the families down there, the wives and kids of four families, so the kids all enjoyed themselves, did a little floating, a little tubing, and a little bit of beer drinking. So good weekend.

Nick (01:18.056)
is the does the beer drinking d drop at all with with the amount of kids running around or is it pretty much remain equal to with even if the kids weren't?

Neil (01:26.469)
It remains Yeah, it remains equal. I mean, my kids are eight. They can fend for themselves. They don't need old dad getting them food and all that. They can get it themselves these days and they're self sufficient in a lot of ways. So no, no. It was it was par for the course.

Nick (01:42.552)
Yeah, I spent the week in Chicago, got home on Friday and played some golf Saturday morning and with you guys out of town I kinda honestly just took it took it easy. Just chilled over the weekend. So

Neil (01:53.949)
There you go, there you go. Give us an update on O Wes's T ball team or ki no, he's a kid pitch. Yeah, sorry, kid pitch. Are we in the World Series? We make it to the the nationals?

Nick (02:01.601)
This is it it's not seatball. Ten and under. They were three and in pool play and and we talked about the game that I drove down and watched wet West pitch where he was was really good. That was a pool play game. They lost in their semi. Three to one. They West did not pitch in the semi. They were saving him for the final. They didn't get there. And and the team that

Neil (02:09.766)
Yeah.

Neil (02:13.316)
that a pool play game? okay.

Neil (02:25.754)
Well, who does that? You can't save your ace in a win win or go home game. You gotta throw your ace out there.

Nick (02:31.019)
The team that they beat one to nothing in the first game of pool play actually came back and won the whole thing. So a two seed went wins the tournament. They they get to the semi and lose. But I I I mean, look, you save your ace for the final, you might not get there. And that's what happened. And West was not their ace going into the tournament, but was just pitching really well. So they decided to to save him. And no, I was I was just proud of him. Something clicked.

Neil (02:41.884)
Can't say

Neil (02:50.084)
Stupid.

Neil (02:57.616)
Who's this coach? This coach has gotta go. This coach has this coach has to go.

Nick (03:01.975)
He's not gonna go anywhere, but he's not gonna go anywhere, but yeah. When you leave your ace, well not necessarily your ace, whoever was pitching the best. Leave him on the bench and and you lose. I mean, it sucks, but this team, I mean, they're 10 and U, so they're two years away from the big tournament where you get on ESPN and I I

Neil (03:04.028)
I don't know who the coach is, but he's gotta go.

Neil (03:17.036)
That's it's malpractice. It's coaching malpractice.

Neil (03:28.479)
that's fine.

Nick (03:30.593)
I mean th to get there you gotta be really good. I I do think this team's good. We could see what happens, but I was just proud of West. Something clicked for him, he pitched really well and a lot of confidence on the mount. Which is the key at that age, just throwing strikes and being confident.

Neil (03:35.493)
Yeah.

There you go. There you go. Keep that arm.

There you go, he'll be ready to go for spring training.

Nick (03:47.48)
they they already signed up for fallball and we'll we'll watch all play soccer and baseball and basketball this fall before we get back into baseball next spring and and summer.

Neil (03:49.51)
Fall ball, all right. Fa fault fall training. All right.

Nick (04:01.401)
LeBron James is we've been waiting to see where he's going to go. There there had been talks about him going back to Cleveland. Homecoming. Ended it there. Talks going back to Miami. Talks about going to Golden State to play with Steph. We had heard a little bit about potentially the Sixers. When the news broke that he is going to Philly, I mean your initial reaction to that was.

Neil (04:09.233)
Yeah.

Neil (04:31.546)
Yeah, it was surprising. I didn't expect it. I knew Philly was in the in the mix.

But I didn't have them as being the front runner. You know, I thought maybe he'd end up going back to Miami. We all heard about the Miami social media team accidentally putting out that LeBron James introductory press conference tweet that was quickly taken down. but it was out there. So it was like, maybe they know something, you know, that we that the public doesn't know and maybe they're the front runner, or maybe he was gonna go back to Cleveland and end his career at home. But

In the end, I think he actually probably made if he's trying to win a title, I think he made the right decision. You know, teaming up with Jalen Brown and Tyrese Maxie and Joel Embiid and Edgecombe and that's a heck of a starting five. So if you're trying to win a title, I think that's the right move for Braun Braun is to get to Philly. If they can stay healthy, which has been a big question mark for them in the past couple of years with Embiid and missing all that time, if they if they can stay healthy, I mean that's the best team in the East.

Nick (05:30.273)
You don't even need Embiid healthy during the season. Just just just get him healthy in the playoffs. And I mean that's why they beat Boston, 'cause En beat was NB i in that series. I I do think this purely was a basketball decision for LeBron. I I I mean, look, the most nostalgic thing obviously would have been to go and finish your career in Cleveland. And he could have done that and finished in his hometown team.

Neil (05:33.353)
That's true. Just get to the playoffs. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Neil (05:47.729)
Yes.

Nick (05:59.394)
But I think that he knew that deep down he wasn't going to win at Cleveland. And and that's what this all boiled down to. I I think he looked I think he was interested in potentially playing with Steph, but I I think ultimately he thought, dude, I'm not gonna take them over the hump. And

Neil (06:06.897)
No, he wasn't.

Neil (06:22.886)
I it's an that's an aging team out. You got an aged aging Draymond, you got an aging Steph. LeBron's up there in age and you know, same with Cleveland. I mean you got it you got a Donovan Mitchell who's in his prime, but you got an old James Harden and a bunch of other not superstars. So you're right. Like this was a basketball move, a hundred percent.

Nick (06:42.881)
Now look, a lot of pressure here. A lot of pressure. Because you're going there on a two year deal, and if he doesn't win a title in those two years, I d is this a failure? Everywhere he's been, he's won a title. That is one of the things that makes him a legend. He's won a title at all three spots. If he and now you've decided at 41, I'm gonna go to a new team with that fan base, who is the most nuts fan base.

Neil (06:45.542)
yeah. yeah.

Neil (06:52.282)
You ain't making a lot of money.

Nick (07:12.511)
in the country and they expect one thing now. And if you don't bring that to i is it a failure?

Neil (07:13.638)
Correct.

Neil (07:21.274)
Is it a failure on Braun or is it a failure on the coaching, or who's it a failure on?

Nick (07:26.007)
Braun is there to win his win a title. So I guess the question is, is it a failure on Braun if they don't win it?

Neil (07:33.277)
I mean, there's some good teams in the way. I mean, the Spurs, the young talent the Spurs have. You still have the Knicks, who are a very talented team. And you've got okay Oklahoma City Thunder, who just won a title, you know, two years ago that was one game away from getting back to the to the final. So it's not gonna be easy. I think they that the Sixers are the most talented team in the league now, with the additions of Braun and and Shaylor Brown. It should be I mean it's easier to get out of the East than it is the West, there's no doubt.

Nick (07:54.711)
But it should be easier to get out east.

Neil (07:59.899)
So they they should be the one seed in the East. I mean, the Knicks are going to be the team that they have to look out for. because I mean the Pistons were the one seed last year, and to me, it's it's the Detroit Pistons. Like, what are we doing? Like, not that big a deal. They should be able to handle them. Boston won't be the same Boston without Jalen Brown. So it should be an easy walk out of the East for them. But then you you know, you gotta run into to one of those Western conference teams that have been pretty damn good.

Nick (08:25.089)
Yeah, I just like what what did I talk about a couple of weeks ago? Like

Neil (08:27.77)
I think if you get to the finals, I think if he can get to the finals with the Sixers, even if they lose. But that that okay, but you're asking if it's a failure or a non-failure. Getting to the finals

Nick (08:30.859)
He's done that all the time. He always does that.

Nick (08:37.385)
am, that's a straight up question. What is it? That's what I asked. Yes, you're right.

Neil (08:40.376)
Missing the finals, missing okay, I'll give you an answer. Missing the finals is a failure. Making the finals and losing is not a failure, but it's not the goal. The goals will win a title. But if you you let's say you take the Spurs or or OK C to the seven games and you end up losing, not a failure. It's not a failure. That's a hell of a good season. And it's further than Philly's been in a long, long time. I mean since what, two thousand one?

Nick (09:02.925)
Alright, so then next year they win it all or vi or is it failure? At forty two?

Neil (09:05.658)
Okay. I think getting getting to the finals is not a failing season. Winning an Eastern Conference Championship is not a failure. No, that's not the goal. Okay, it's not the goal for any the goal for any team is to win a championship. But like not only one team can do it. So is every season every team, all thirty one thirty one teams a year is a failure. The dispers was the Spurs season a failure?

Nick (09:10.667)
Is that the goal? Is that the goal? LeBron's goal is to get to the final.

Nick (09:28.917)
the spir was the spur no, it was not.

Neil (09:31.216)
What was Victor Wimignano's goal going into the season? To win a title. Did he win it? No. So you're gonna call it a fa are you gonna call it a failure?

Nick (09:36.193)
He's got a lot of opportunities.

Nick (09:41.548)
I no, I'm not gonna call it a failure. I I am going to say, well, he could have gone to any third any team of the 32. He went to this team because he believes it's the best opportunity to win a title. Now, if he would have gone to Cleveland, if he doesn't win a title, it's not a failure because he's choosing to go back to Cleveland to return home to end his career. And that team's not gonna win at all, and we all know it.

Neil (09:43.29)
Okay. But you're gonna call it for brawn.

Nick (10:12.149)
You're going to Philly to win the whole damn thing. That's why he's going there.

Neil (10:20.262)
Correct. That's the goal.

Nick (10:21.089)
So if you don't do it, then it is a failure.

Neil (10:25.638)
So hard to win a title. If you miss the playoffs, if you don't make the Eastern Conference Finals, if you don't win the Eastern Conference Finals, I'll give you failure. But making it to the NBA Finals and losing, it's not to me, it's not a failure. It's a disappointment. A failure is missing the finals. It's disappointing if you don't win the finals.

Nick (10:27.391)
It is hard. But that you

Nick (10:44.439)
So losing losing in the e in the Eastern Conference finals to the Knicks is a failure. Losing to the Thunder, the Spurs in the title game is not a failure.

Neil (10:49.435)
Yes.

Neil (10:54.404)
No, 'cause they they might be a better team.

Nick (10:57.879)
Who's to say the Knicks aren't gonna be a better team?

Neil (11:01.308)
I mean, they were a three seed in the East going into last year. I think the with the talent the talent I think that the talent that the Sixers have is better than the Knicks. Even though the Knicks is very a very talented team, I'm taking the Sixers in a seven game series with l if you compare the the lineups, give me the Sixers.

Nick (11:05.399)
Defending champs.

Nick (11:17.843)
Adding a fourth team to his his resume, does that taint his legacy at all?

Neil (11:24.11)
We d no, absolutely not. And we you're only asking that 'cause you're a Jordan guy. And we all know you just love Michael Jordan, love Michael Jordan, and you're doing anything you can to try to tarnish LeBron's legacy. No, it doesn't tarnish or taint his legacy or anything like that. No. To me, if he can go win a title in four places, that makes him even better than Jordan. He already is better than Jordan, but this this just cements him as being the good.

Nick (11:29.175)
Yeah.

Nick (11:47.105)
Yeah, but but if he doesn't do it, it's not a failure.

Neil (11:51.844)
I he's still the goat if he doesn't do it.

Nick (11:53.976)
So here's the thing, dude. Yeah, LeBron can never be six for six in the finals. Yeah. Just it can't happen after he lost his first one. So yeah, he can't be Jordan. But but but

Neil (12:04.868)
I mean, look at the rosters that LeBron took to the to the two in the cha do you know what LeBron's Cleveland Cavaliers team was? That the one the team that lost to the Spurs? Adrunas, Zelgaus, and Delante West. He didn't have Scottie Pippen and Steve Kerr in the rest of the game. He had a bunch of bums.

Nick (12:11.521)
Yes, and we've talked about this. We don't need to do it again.

He was good.

Nick (12:24.301)
All right. Dude's forty one years old. When LeBron or when MJ went to the Wizards after three years of retirement, he was thirty eight.

Neil (12:33.372)
Was that a failure?

Nick (12:35.917)
I mean he wasn't going there to win a title. He still still averaged twenty points.

Neil (12:37.168)
Was that a failure? Was Michael Jordan's Wizards experience a failure? Thousand percent. Glad you agree.

Nick (12:42.337)
Yeah, yeah, it was.

if LeBron fulfills this two-year contract, he will have played twenty-five years in the NBA, which is a full 10 more than Michael Jordan.

Neil (13:07.1)
Placed the goat.

Nick (13:11.073)
That's a pretty staggering number. And that I don't think it doesn't make him the GOAT because he played more seasons. But it's a it's a staggering number.

Neil (13:20.944)
But he's still playing at a high level. He's not some scrub now that's averaging five points a game and at the age of forty-one. He's not just hanging on for that last bit of glory. He's still really damn good.

Nick (13:33.773)
Was he a top twenty player in the league?

Neil (13:35.588)
Still, absolutely.

Nick (13:37.281)
But yeah, you wouldn't go top ten anymore.

Neil (13:39.866)
I'd I might. I mean I'd have to go I'd have to I'd have to go I'd have to go through it.

Nick (13:41.655)
Hovering hovering in the top ten. I would definitely say he's still top twenty.

Neil (13:47.354)
Yeah, I'd have to go through the top fifteen and top ten and see and see what but

Nick (13:49.272)
Which I mean the dude's longevity is it's unmatched. And the pressure that he came into the league with at 18 years old, and to live up to that pressure and actually to even exceed it. To exceed it.

Neil (13:53.412)
Incredible. Yes.

Neil (14:05.018)
He was called the chosen one. He was called in high school he was the chosen one. And he's yeah, he's he's you're right, he has exceeded it. Yeah. Yes.

Nick (14:10.689)
Yeah. He he's he's exceeded it. Which is phenomenal. Phenomenal. A and he deserves all the respect. I but I I've talked about my negatives on LeBron and we don't need to go through again. I at first I thought this was lame, him going to Philly, going to a new team. There's a part of me that still thinks it kinda is, but

It could be they're they're gonna be a fun team to watch, especially if Embiats healthy. And Maxie's one of the best up-and-coming guards in a league. Etchcom fits into that team perfectly. It's gonna be fun to watch. There's gonna be a lot of pressure. I and dude, here's another thing. Dude signed was offered $20 million for one year to play for the Clippers. And he's getting two years, eight million to go to Philly. So the I mean he he doesn't need any money. We know that.

Neil (15:05.53)
I mean they're I mean it's it's been talked about. He's getting what, three point six this year in year one and how there's a quite a few college basketball players that are getting more money than that. Almost double that. There's six million dollar college basketball guys that are making more than the greatest player in NBA history.

Nick (15:06.913)
But this wasn't about money.

Nick (15:18.219)
Yep. Yep. Me Mion Monsilovich will be making six billion dollars this year for Kentucky. And LeBron is making less than four.

Which is you wanna you wanna say NIL is broke? There's something there's there's something not that doesn't add up to about that.

Neil (15:33.02)
Okay.

Neil (15:36.796)
Insane.

Neil (15:41.114)
college kid making more money than the greatest basketball player of all time.

Nick (15:44.429)
And look, dude's good. Good player. Best three point shooter in the country last year.

Neil (15:46.66)
Sure. He's never he's not close to LeBron.

Nick (15:52.267)
I mean dude it's you can't even it's not even you there's nothing to compare. There's nothing to compare.

Neil (15:55.889)
Yeah.

Yeah.

Nick (16:00.319)
I I do wanna say one thing about LeBron and we've talked about the potential of them playing the Spurs in the finals. Why weren't the Spurs more of an option?

Neil (16:15.76)
Why weren't the Thunder more of an option? Why weren't the Knicks more of an option?

Nick (16:17.782)
Like if he if it is if it is truly about just winning.

Neil (16:21.402)
Why not the Knicks?

Nick (16:24.256)
And he's gonna live in New York.

Neil (16:24.732)
I say that's what that rumor is he's living in New York and commuting to Philly. Yeah, okay. Well, he hasn't moved there yet, I don't think. I don't but

Nick (16:27.5)
No, it's not a rumor. It's not a rumor.

He will be commuting from from from New York.

Neil (16:35.066)
Potentially by helicopter, I saw.

Nick (16:37.292)
But can you and yeah, you can get in and talk to the Knicks and the Thunder, but him taking that really young Spurs team that just went to the finals and being that veteran presence, I I just think that would have been really tempted to him. And I I would like to know if it was ever discussions because it was said that they did reach out to every single team.

Neil (17:03.29)
Maybe he listened to Charles Barclay. You know Charles Barclay's thoughts on San Antonio women.

Nick (17:08.951)
Okay.

Nick (17:13.196)
Maybe maybe that's what it was. But I I just they're they're so young and you just add him. I just think it could have been would have been a shin see.

Neil (17:15.215)
Maybe Chuck got to

Neil (17:24.976)
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I don't know.

Nick (17:31.052)
All right, so you said it's not a failure. Does he get one in two years?

Neil (17:34.779)
Yes.

Nick (17:37.845)
Year one, do they get it done?

Neil (17:40.112)
Yes.

Nick (17:42.828)
Does he go two for two?

Neil (17:46.333)
I mean if he I mean is it a guarantee like he's not like if he wins it, will he retire? Like is it like automatic he comes back for year two? I mean if he comes back for year two, I then I think they're the fate yeah, I'd go two for two. He I think he for sure gets one. If he plays two years, I think they can get two. If if they're healthy, they gotta stay healthy.

Nick (18:04.638)
If he delivers the title to the Sixers.

Neil (18:09.276)
You're gonna say he's better than Jordan?

Nick (18:09.428)
He will be he will be the first player in league history to to win a championship with four different teams.

Neil (18:14.384)
Will you then admit he's better than Michael Jordan? Of course not. There's nothing that'll ever change your mind on that. Jesus.

Nick (18:20.586)
Absolutely not.

I mean he d he picked the best team to go to.

Nick (18:29.718)
Pick the best team to go to. Now look, I will say he he didn't take the easy way out. Like he picked the best team, but he could have chose a lot easier. There were easier decisions.

Neil (18:39.74)
Wait, how why are you saying that he picked the best team? The best team would have been the New York Knicks, they just won a title. Or the Oklahoma City Thunder who won one two years ago. Or the San Antonio Spurs who just played for a title. Those would be the best teams.

Nick (18:48.16)
He all right. He he's not going he's not going he's not going to OKC.

Neil (18:54.438)
But those would be the best teams.

So we didn't pick the best team.

Nick (18:59.904)
I guess he picked the best team that he potentially would go to. And I I do wonder, like I said, if San Diego San Antonio was an option because but I he put a lot of pressure on himself by making this decision. And it'll be interesting to see if he lives up to it. And you think he's gonna go two for two?

Neil (19:02.692)
Yeah. Okay.

Nick (19:27.188)
Jackson Coyvin has a chance to go two for two. Two weeks in a row, I guess. Is that kind of a One last week at the three he's playing this but two for two, two in the weekends in a row if he wins this week at the Rocket.

Neil (19:36.036)
It'd be two for four. It'd be two for four if he wins, but yeah. Yeah, yeah. That would be two for two for the last two.

Nick (19:46.241)
This dude came in to the PGA. Could have he would have qualified last year after his sophomore season with the with the PGA tour university accelerator program. but chose to come back for his junior year, wins a national title, wins a national title for the university, had like double the amount of points that he needed to qualify for the tour, and then

Neil (19:55.974)
Yeah.

Nick (20:14.962)
in three starts. Three pro starts. This was what, his thirteenth start overall, I believe.

Neil (20:23.004)
yeah.

Nick (20:23.498)
Yeah, his thirteenth start overall, his third start as a pro, goes sixty one on Saturday to to build a lead, and then fires a bogey free sixty six on Sunday, with Scotty on his heels.

Neil (20:38.342)
Yeah.

Nick (20:40.502)
We've seen a lot of young guys come up in the ranks of the PJ Tour. I this dude might be different.

Neil (20:52.634)
Yeah, no, he's the next big thing. He's I think he's absolutely the next big thing. He in I'm gonna put it out there, he's probably going to win a major in the next two years. He'll win he'll win a major. I mean, to to do what he did at at the three open last weekend, like you mentioned, he has the world number one golfer breathing down his neck.

Scotty Scheffler, multi time major winner, number one in the world. And for you to just go out and shoot a bogey free five under on Sunday to just lock this thing up, incredible. Incredible. At that young age, like you said, only his third career pro start. I mean he finished top ten in the Isko. It was, you know, not a not a great ISCO field, but still finished top ten. So he's he's catching on. He's catching fire. He's the next big thing.

Nick (21:41.835)
Dude, and he was coming. He was coming in the ISCO. And I actually got a bet in because we were there on the eighteenth green. And you're on the eighteenth green. You wanna you wanna place a bet. You wanna add a little excitement to it. I was on Cleven and then he went on heater and I was gonna make some money. And then he just kind of chilled out a little bit. I I didn't bet him this week. I didn't bet I didn't bet the tournament at all. But yeah, I mean, he comes out right away in Birdie's one.

Neil (21:41.968)
Get on the bandwagon.

Neil (21:51.13)
Yeah. Yeah.

Nick (22:10.9)
And he knows Scotty's making a move. Goes bogey free the whole round. And look, it's totally different when you're when Scotty's chasing you when you're up three, four, five strokes, than it is you're up one. Like the having that little cushion, it it's nice to have that. But then he gets to the eighteenth and he's three clear. He's three clear.

Neil (22:27.482)
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Neil (22:35.51)
He a little nervous swing on that one. On that drive.

Nick (22:39.134)
And he hadn't shown any nerves the whole time. And dude takes a divot on the T box. Hits a little duck hook. They showed a graphic of every drive on 18 for the entire tournament. And he hit it about 235, 240. It was a good 20, 30, 40 yards shorter of every other drive for the tournament. So at least we know he's human.

Neil (23:01.104)
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.

Yeah. I mean he does what w we've all done that before.

Nick (23:09.91)
But then he just calmly takes an iron, puts it up there, pulls his wedge a or it was a little long with his wedge, but you're not going short right because there's water. And his chip wasn't great. Left put it to thirteen feet, but then he needed a par to set the the tournament record. And he put he just drilled that thirteen footer.

Neil (23:24.313)
In the butt.

Nick (23:37.258)
I I there there's talk already about him potentially being on on the President's Cup team.

Neil (23:46.349)
I mean we gotta see a little more from him than that, you know. I mean I'm are we excited for him? Like, you know, he's top ten and then he wins? Sure, but let's let's get a couple more top tens or some some other victories under your belt before we get to that level.

Nick (23:49.94)
It is the

Nick (24:01.536)
mean, do we not like I mean you're s I it might be quick, but he ain't gonna hurt you and the dude's got stones and he's he's the fourth betting choice this week at the Rock.

He's

Neil (24:17.584)
Is it a good field at the Rocket this week?

Nick (24:20.16)
Cam Young's the favorite, Goddard up second, Shoffley's third. He's he's the he's bet his odds, he's at plus 1800, Wendham's at plus 2,000. He's the fourth betting choice, Wyndham's the fifth. It's a good field. Like you still got you got Siwoo, you got Jake Knapp, you Cantley, JJ Spawn, Ben Griffin, Akshay, Ricky, Hegan. So it's a it's a pretty good field. Better than last week. And in that field,

Neil (24:23.493)
Okay.

Neil (24:31.27)
Okay.

Okay.

Neil (24:39.612)
Okay. Yeah. Okay. Okay.

Yeah. Okay. Okay.

Nick (24:49.11)
I mean he he he's the fourth betting choice.

Took Tiger five pro starts to win for the first time. D Coivon did it in three. Rory took him thirty-seven. Scotty, sixty-six.

He was born in 2005. How's that make you feel?

Neil (25:14.374)
graduating high school. Ha Dam.

Nick (25:16.62)
two thousand and five.

Neil (25:19.174)
That's incredible. No, good for him. Like I said, like he's I think he wins a major in the next two years. What do you think?

Nick (25:27.306)
I I think he's got a good chance. Now look, we just win a year without Scotty winning one, so it's not like it's it's easy to win a win a major. I I think another second place finish. But I mean it's just

Neil (25:33.926)
We've talked about Scotty never winning again.

Nick (25:45.974)
This dude's different. Like he had eleven wins in college.

It became the first player to capture he got all three National Player of the Year awards. Like fifty-six weeks ranked number one in the amateur rankings. And then you just show up and just act like it ain't no big deal. And they say he he has no other real hobbies like golf is it. So he he ain't gonna he ain't gonna get tired of playing.

Neil (25:51.408)
Yeah, he's he's the next big thing.

Neil (26:20.132)
That's dangerous. That's dangerous.

Nick (26:23.1)
And I want to talk about his caddy, David Flynn. He's been on the bag for some from for some other pros, was been on the bag for Trey Mullen Axe, Troy Merritt, Kevin Twice, some other guys that have played on the tour. But he picked up Coyvin's bag at the at the tail end of his amateur career.

Neil (26:39.59)
For free.

Nick (26:44.468)
And it's paying off already. I mean, you get Cuivan got one point five million for winning last week. So Flynn will get about ten percent of that. So he's taking on a cool one fifty.

Neil (26:48.1)
Mm-hmm. Yep.

Neil (26:57.444)
About a hundred fifty. Yep.

Nick (27:00.886)
So I mean, part of your job as a caddy to see talent out there and latch onto it if you got an opportunity. And he was like, I'm gonna I'm just gonna carry this bag for free for a little bit, so I know I'm on the bag when this dude goes pro and

Neil (27:02.512)
So I mean the

Neil (27:13.104)
Yeah, no, that's that was a smart business decision by that guy. Betting on betting on the player. And it it's it'll it'll pay off. It'll definitely pay off for him. It already has.

Nick (27:24.776)
on his on his glove, like he's got three things that he writes on his glove. Confidence, trust, and dominate. And there is no doubt that he dominated last week and yep. Twenty four twenty four days. Twenty four days after turning pro. He he gets himself a W.

Neil (27:39.152)
He he did all three. He did all three.

Nick (27:50.836)
So go back to bed?

Neil (27:53.956)
That's hard to do.

No, he won't go back to back, but I think he'll he'll he'll be a top ten.

Nick (28:02.732)
Yeah, I just the fields i if he does that, well welcome to the PGA tour, dude.

Neil (28:08.688)
I wouldn't even say I think he gets I think he gets top five. I don't think he wins, but I think he'll be top five.

Nick (28:14.976)
Yeah, I I just if he wins this week it'd be incredible. I'm I I I mean I already think he's he's different. If he does that, then it's maybe even a whole nother level of different. If he wins that, like you really like he's already seventieth in the FedEx cup points. Like he's good he's gonna make the playoff.

Neil (28:28.09)
Yeah.

Neil (28:36.668)
Let's get it. That'll be yeah, that'll be fun to watch.

Nick (28:37.866)
Another another top five, another top ten, he's getting close to being a top fifty. To where he's sure he'd getting it through the BMW.

Neil (28:41.925)
Yeah.

Neil (28:45.338)
Yeah.

Nick (28:48.118)
But good on him and dude seems like he's got his head on straight. I mean and then he went fishing in the pond. I'm not sure if he caught anything.

Neil (28:58.108)
I did see that. I saw that, yeah.

Nick (29:01.526)
We're we're back at the Rocket. This is where Ricky ended his draft three years ago. In a playoff. In a playoff against Colin and Adam Adam had w had one three years ago.

Neil (29:08.912)
Well, good luck to your boy Rick. Good luck to your boy Rick.

Nick (29:18.464)
We do have another horse race to talk about.

Neil (29:22.704)
We are the horse racing experts.

Nick (29:25.036)
I think it's if that's what you want to call us. It's the Jim Dandy this this Saturday. It is the pre precursor to the Travers. Going a mile an eighth. We do just have five horses. Jim Dandy is a legend at Saratoga.

Neil (29:30.043)
Happy.

Nick (29:45.738)
He won the Travers in in nineteen thirty after being a hundred to one.

Underdog and and in the muddy track beat Gallant Fox by like five, six links. And that is why this race is called the Gym Dandy.

Neil (30:08.708)
Okay.

Nick (30:11.392)
Dude won a race like a hundred years ago against one of the triple crown winners. As a hundred to one. As a hundred to one. That's what his only real calling card of his career. Upset the triple crown winner and the rest of the field in the Travers. And now for the rest of his life he gets a rights named after him. All you gotta do is one thing, Neil. We just gotta do one thing. And we'll be remembered forever.

Nick (30:42.7)
Maybe. so as I said, five horses.

Neil (30:48.946)
Let's get into it.

Nick (30:49.206)
We're starting off with Chiponcho.

He is ridden by Jose Ortiz, trained by Steve Asmussen, three to one on the morning line.

We'll let you lead off with your thoughts on Chi Chip Honcho.

Neil (31:06.34)
Yeah, I like Chiponcho. I do. I like Chiponcho. He's coming off he won the grade three Ohio Derby. his last time out had a speed figure rating of ninety six, which was pretty good. he was third in the preakness, which we all saw to Napoleon Solo by four and a half lengths.

You know, he he had a rough I mean he he was gonna be a derby horse. He had a a rough go at it in the Louisiana Derby when he finished fifth, with a with a pretty low speed rating of eighty nine. So they decided to skip the derby on that one and just kinda point him to the preakness instead. But he's a good horse. he's ridden by Jose Ortiz, who's one of the best jockeys out there and you know, we all know how the kind of year that Jose's having with the Napoleon Solo winners that he's had. And so you know, Chip Chip's gonna be the he's he's g he's got the rail.

I think he's gonna be the the pace setter in this thing. He's the lone horse with some speed early speed out there. So he's gonna set the pace. If he can get out front and kinda slow things down on these other horses, I think he's got enough in the tank to go wire to wire. So I got him as a win contender.

Nick (32:09.801)
I think he has to be a contender because of the last thing that you said. He is the only speed in in this race. There's there's nothing there's nothing else. Like if no I don't see any other horse in this lead that is even gonna try to get to get the lead at at the start. My thing with him is his last two races, he wins the Ohio Derby. I don't know how good that field was. O'Celly comes in second by a length. And then

Neil (32:33.852)
It's grade three. It was a grade three. Yeah.

Nick (32:39.551)
The preakness where he comes in third by what was almost five lengths. I don't know how good that field was either. So

Neil (32:44.388)
Or

Nick (32:52.459)
If it wasn't for the fact that he's the lone speed, I I don't think I would have this horse in in my exotics. But I I think that because he is the only speed, I think you have to include him.

Neil (33:08.55)
But you also gotta y yeah, but you also gotta y give Jose Ortiz you know, that that counts for something. The dude that's on his back.

Nick (33:16.755)
It does. It does. But I mean a jockey can't make a horse better than they are.

Neil (33:22.244)
No. No, but I think Hor Ortiz w will make the right moves.

Nick (33:27.275)
I just I don't see this horse winning the race, even with the with even with the fact that he's gonna be the lone speed. So if I'm gonna include him, it would be in my exact is or my tries.

In the two hole we have asked and answered

He will be ridden by Jami Rodriguez, trained by Antonio Ariaga. I ask you, why is this horse in this race? What is your answer?

Neil (33:59.279)
I was just about to say, I've got questions. I'm asking why this horse is in the field, and I've got no answers because this horse has never won a race. He doesn't know if he's a dirt horse or a turf horse. He's done both, and they they've neither one of them have gone well for him. His career best Brisnett speed figure is eighty seven. I mean, it's just in awful. It's awful. I don't know why this horse is in here. He's never won. Six starts. His best he's finished second twice. This horse sucks. He's out. He'll be fifth.

Nick (34:29.949)
Yeah, I you talked about the eighty seven being his highest Bris net speed. I I the only positive with that is it was on dirt and he went a mile. Like he's had three races on turf where his speed figures were in the 70s. So his lone really good speed was a second place finish in a maiden eighty five where they went a mile and he came in second by a half length. Sires Tapitt.

Those are the only two things that I can think of positive on this horse. Like if you look at everything else, like it's was the trainer did he accidentally put him in the wrong race?

Neil (35:12.405)
He might have.

Nick (35:14.079)
Because half your race on turf, your speed figures suck, you've never won. Why are you in this race?

Neil (35:22.766)
I mean, we've said similar things, not mean not as bad as this, but w not not as to this level, but other horses that were like they have no chance, why is this horse you know? Golden Tempo being one of and b baby Vino, who was an unknown horse going into the Haskell, they both won. They both won.

Nick (35:26.227)
No, we haven't.

Nick (35:39.263)
I know, but we weren't ignoring them completely. Like at least with Tempo in the Derby, we talked about potentially having them in our exotics. Same thing with Baby Vino. This horse, this if this horse doesn't come in fifth, it's an upset.

Neil (35:45.037)
I ignore tempo.

Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, no, I I get you. His horse sucks.

Neil (35:58.981)
I agree.

Nick (36:02.153)
In the 3-0 we got Renegade.

Ridden by Irad, trained by Todd Pletcher.

Nick (36:12.735)
Your thoughts on Renegade?

Neil (36:15.492)
Yep, nope. he he's one of the better three year olds. you know, he was one of the favorites going into the Derby and and damn near won it. You know, he lost by a neck to to Golden Tempo. he won the Arkansas Derby in the lead up to the Kentucky Derby. and then finished third in his last race, which was the Belmont to once again Golden Tempo.

You know, i i his best speed figure is top speed figure of ninety eight was in that Kentucky Derby, which like I said, he almost won when, you know, some of these other horses, the commandments, of of the world were in it. So he's got the potential. You know, he's he's he's shown that he that he he can be the the a top horse. So he's a win contender. He's never finished outside the top three. His speed ratings have always been in the nineties. You know, some negatives for him is

You know, Todd Pletcher is winless at Saratoga in the dirt in this meet, and only twenty nine percent of his horses have finished in the money, which is kind of an eye popping stat there. And Renegade at Saratoga is you know, has not won. He's f he's raced twice and finished third in in both of those races. But you know, I I think he's a better horse than what he showed in the Belmont the last time out. I think if if he runs the race that he did in the Kentucky Derby, I think he wins.

Nick (37:29.919)
Yeah, I and we've talked, like, he might have ran the most impressive race in the Derby with with the route that he took and just getting edged at the end there. I I do have concern con some concerns about his his Belmont. And because he really I don't think he really had an excuse.

Neil (37:50.138)
You don't think that was just an anomaly? Like maybe d he just wasn't feeling it that day. Like everybody has a bad day.

Nick (37:55.38)
It's it's a possibility. It's a possibility. But that race set if it set up for tempo, it should have set up for for renegade and it didn't. And at the end of the Belmont, it was tempo and commandment coming on strong and tempo holding off commandment for the win. And I think this horse is gonna go off close to what his morning line odds are at as which is seven to five.

And dude, I just you talk about Pletcher being for on the main course. Dude, this meet at Saratoga, he's six for thirty seven overall. He's for fourteen with three Euros, and he's for five in stakes races.

Neil (38:31.025)
Yeah.

Neil (38:36.003)
Mm-hmm.

Nick (38:44.405)
So something's going on.

Neil (38:47.174)
Something's in the air in Saratoga, huh?

Nick (38:49.493)
So I do think this is a good horse. I this is another horse that wants to come from behind. I don't know how fast this pace is going to be. I he's probably going to be trailing the field. I mean, it's only a five horse field, and I've told you that I think that if Ast and Answer doesn't finish fifth, it's an upset. I think there's a chance Renegade finishes fourth in this race. I really do.

Neil (39:04.122)
Yeah, he will be.

Neil (39:18.628)
I yeah, I you're concerned about the Belmont. I just think that the Belmont was just an uncharacteristic race for him. If his late pace speed figure was eighty one, which was the lowest of his career. I don't expect him to do that again. I don't I don't th I don't see him finishing f fourth or f I mean, obviously not fifth, but I don't see him finishing behind these other horses. I've got him probably he's in the try. He'll be in the try.

Nick (39:42.828)
But and look, we've talked about this. Like, is this really what you think's gonna happen or are you trying to win money? And in a five horse field where there's gonna be two horses that are close to one to one, and Commandment and Renegade are both gonna be hovering around where they are now, eight to five, seven to five. If you can beat one of and you can beat the right one, that's the only way you're gonna win money. Like this isn't a great betting race to win cash. Let's just be honest. So yeah, so

Neil (39:49.338)
No. Yeah. Yeah.

Neil (40:06.404)
No, it's not. And it's a five horse race. It's a five horse race.

Nick (40:10.117)
I I think my betting strategy is going to be to try to leave Renegade out of everything and just take my chances.

Neil (40:16.826)
What was what would you say the the odds on asked and answered were?

Nick (40:21.567)
Thirty to one.

Neil (40:23.388)
There's your money. Take a take a two dollar bet on

Nick (40:27.507)
no. We'll not be doing that. And look, dude, so here's another stat on asked and answered that I didn't that I wanted to bring up that I forgot. Renegade's career earnings, two point two million. Chip Honcho's career earnings, eight hundred thousand. commandment, one point three million. Silent tactic, just over a million. You want to take a guess at what asked and answered's career career earnings are?

Neil (40:43.003)
Yeah.

Nick (40:58.037)
So remember, chip honcho was the lowest eight hundred thousand.

Neil (41:03.834)
I'm guessing he's probably about a hundred and fifty.

Nick (41:07.349)
thirty six thousand dollars.

Neil (41:13.668)
That's so bad. That's so bad.

Nick (41:15.499)
In the foreho, we have Silent Tactic. He'll be ridden by Luis Sayez, trained by Mark Cassie. We haven't seen this horse since the Arkansas Derby in late March. Scratched from the Derby with the bone bruise, and we haven't seen him since. What are we going to see from Silent Tactic off the layoff?

Neil (41:40.251)
Yeah, we d I I it it's it's a mystery. I mean this is kind of the same thing we talked about with the Puma at the Haskell. You know, the Puma t had that that long layoff ca when he scratched in the Derby because he was hurt. Same kind of thing with silent tactic. I mean, it's a good horse when when he's healthy. Six starts, finished no worse than second. He's got two wins and four four seconds, so

You know, he he's a good horse when he's healthy. It's just that long layoff, like, I don't know how you bounce back from that. You know, he was his last race was the Arkansas Derby. He finished second to Renegade, who was also in this race.

You know, his they they're they're raving about his workouts. He's he's been increasingly faster in his workouts leading up to this race, so you know, maybe he's he's on the mid and and he'll get back to to his winning or his his first and second ways. But I mean he'll be a pace stalker, he'll he'll be right behind H Chiponcho. His highest speed figure is a ninety three, which happened in his last race in the Arkansas Derby. So if he can run in the that ninety three sh speed figure range, I think he he'll be in the money, like he has been his entire career. I don't think he'll win.

But he could potentially be in the money. I personally have him finishing fourth.

Nick (42:50.251)
So yeah, I just talked about how I've got Renegade finishing fourth. And I'm doing it because I'm trying to figure out a way to to win some money. this horse, like you said, has never finished worse than second in in six starts. And five of those starts have been greatest stakes. So he's raced against this level of competition his entire career.

Yeah, the fact that he's been out for four months is a concern. And just like you said with the Puma, you don't know what you're gonna get. And I think with the Puma, we didn't see anything. So are you gonna get that from ta silent tactic?

Neil (43:26.692)
Hmm. He didn't give us anything. No.

Nick (43:35.273)
His workouts have been good, and when you've been gone for four months, that's all we have right now to rely on.

Four months for a three year old horse is a long time. And like there could be improvement there and in this field. I I think I have to include this horse to finish second or third because of that. picking up Sayaz. Cassie's had more success than some other trainers at this track in this meet. Just

I I'm taking a chance on the fact that Silent Tactic is going to improve. I think he's also entered into a race eight days after this race. So there's a chance that he gets scratched and pointed towards that one instead. But I I don't want this to be a four horse field. So I I if this horse runs, I'm putting him in in my exact in my try.

Neil (44:25.093)
What?

Neil (44:32.292)
that would be awful.

Nick (44:41.791)
Final Horse of the Field is Commandment. Ridden by Flavian Pratt. Ridden or trained by Brad Cox. He is your morning line favorite at 6-5. Your thoughts on your Belmont runner-up?

Neil (45:02.224)
Yep, I think, you know, if you're going talent-wise, I think he's the best horse in the field. his speed figures back that up. He's got the field best, 103 Brison speed rating, which came back in February, the Fountain of Youth. You know, he started 2026 with three straight wins, including that Florida Derby, Derby prep and and the Fountain of Youth as well. He had a rough rough go of it in the Derby. He's one of the Derby favorites, Kentucky Derby favorites, had a rough go of it down the stretch, got bumped around, kinda got roughed up, finished a disappointing seventh.

bounce back a little bit in the Belmont was pro was he the if he wasn't the favorite, he was probably what one of the top two choices. Finishes second to Golden Tempo. Was he six to one? Okay. But I mean finish bounce back a little bit, finishes second in the Belmont. To me, he's the he's the most talented horse in the field. He's definitely a win contender. Brad Cox is gonna go with the blinkers on this one, in this race.

Nick (45:40.383)
He was six to one. He was six to one in the ball.

Neil (45:58.075)
try to keep this horse a little more engaged, coming around that far turn. So maybe he doesn't go so wide and gets a little bit of a better trip than he has been getting. So that could help. So we'll see. But I think you know, he's gonna be he's gonna be up there. I've got him as a win contender.

Nick (46:14.015)
Yeah, he he's he's the best horse in this race. But there are some concerns. Blinkers on concerns me. Now, look, they thought he got a little wide in the Belmont, as did some other horses. And they say that he's maybe losing some interest, so they're hop hoping that that helps him out there. But anytime you have an equipment change, I think it's a little bit of concern. We talked about this in the Derby.

Neil (46:20.572)
There are concerns. Always concerns.

Nick (46:45.301)
How he was on his fourth different jockey.

Nick (46:51.711)
Well, we're now on jockey number six in race number eight.

Neil (46:59.452)
Crazy. For a horse this good it's just it's like for a horse this good, that's just crazy.

Nick (47:01.034)
I think that's right.

Nick (47:05.225)
Yeah. Torres, Irad, no it's it's five because Pratt Pratt has written wrote him in the Florida Derby. So is he's on jockey number five.

But it's still in eight races. That's insane. And of a house horse of this caliber for just not a jockey to just stay on him and be like, this is my ride is kind of wild. And we've talked about that before. How it was just concerning a little bit that you know the bet Irad wasn't staying on this horse and was choosing to go somewhere else. But I I talked about how renegades starting the Belmont concerns

Neil (47:31.606)
Mm-hmm.

Neil (47:40.208)
Yeah. Yeah.

Nick (47:46.996)
And that's why I'm leaving Renegade out. I I think you can ignore Commandments Derby ride. Just because the Derby's such a different race. And if you just eliminate that, I I don't think anybody else in this race is close to him. And the fact that I don't think she's gonna let Chiponcho just get out in the lead all by himself. I think he's gonna be on his tail. Give him a little pressure.

And then and then be there at the end of the race.

Nick (48:23.627)
So if you had to go your one, two, three.

Neil (48:26.684)
And there's only five horses in the race. We can go one, two, three, four, five here. I'm gonna go. I'm gonna stick with the the the early speed horse on the rail with Ose Ortiz. Give me the chip honcho finishing first with Commandment right behind him in second, Renegade third, silent tactic fourth, and asked and answered fifth.

Nick (48:30.507)
You just wanna go the whole way?

Nick (48:54.901)
I don't hate it. I I think if you're trying to get a price in this race, that's what you do. You go chip oncho. Now, look, dude, he's it's not like he's fifteen to one. And he's

Neil (49:07.098)
No, no. I mean it's five horse I mean it's yeah, it's there's four horses that are all gonna be low odds.

Nick (49:14.645)
So if I'm gonna get Chip Honcho at three to one, or I'm gonna get commandment at eight to five, I'm gonna take commandment. So, and look, I've been a commandment stan throughout this three-year-old journey. He was my derby horse. I picked him in the Belmont. He has not won for me yet, but I keep I keep picking him. So I'm gonna go commandment.

And then I'm gonna go silent tactic, honcho, renegade, asked and answered as my top five.

Nick (49:56.426)
And then if we see an if we see asked answered window third, third.

Neil (49:58.439)
Wait wait, you said you had you had Honcho second or third?

Nick (50:05.919)
Yep. So commandment, sound tactic, ancho, renegade. And I just think Renegade's gonna be coming too far off of it. And I look, I'm taking a chance on that one. He's he's probably too good of a horse to finish fourth in this race. But

Neil (50:09.873)
Gotcha.

Neil (50:15.397)
Yeah.

Nick (50:25.269)
Sometimes you gotta take chances. And w what did we what did we learn in in the high school? Like, and here I am picking an eight five, but sometimes it's just trying to figure out some value and hoping that it happens and not really picking the best horse. And I think you're kind of trying to do that, right? And you think it sets up for him.

Neil (50:42.96)
Yeah, yeah. I do. I think I I do think it sets up for him. I like I like where he's at. I like that he's gonna get out front. Jose Ortiz is on him. If he can slow slow the others down a little bit, slow the pace down and still be out front, I think he's got a chance.

Nick (51:00.597)
Alright, d so you've been talked, you said we need to do some drafts, dude. You may need we need to do some drafts. Like we don't do enough drafts. We've done the we've done the Thanksgiving food draft and everybody loved it. We did the we did the Christmas movie draft where you think just friends is a Christmas movie and everybody loved it. It's not a Christmas movie.

Neil (51:04.412)
What do you need? Yeah.

I mean the people the people have been talking. Yeah.

Neil (51:18.31)
See Well the people of the the people have been talking and the the talk is that we need to argue more and we need to go at each other more. So the most of the times when we do that is when we have drafts. You went at me over over over the Dairy Queen. Like you went at me over the Dairy Queen. You went at me over the I went at you over the Thanksgiving foods of

Nick (51:31.005)
Or we talk LeBron.

Neil (51:40.12)
Some kind of dumplings or whatever the hell those things were. Egg, noodles, what the hell that sh crap is. Like yeah, like so like that th th this is when when it gets when the show gets good. So we need to bring back some drafts.

Nick (51:41.885)
Egg noodles, bro. Egg noodles and gravy.

Nick (51:52.181)
So just trying to get some random ideas. If anybody's got ideas, you throw us away. We'd love to draft them. But we're gonna go best leftover foods.

Neil (52:03.514)
Yes. And I hope I have the first pick.

Nick (52:06.751)
You do have the first pick. We are going snake. And we're only going we're going top three on each side. We got the big three. We got the little three. Who's better? Your number one leftover food. I think the o answer is very obvious. So getting the first pick helps you quite a bit.

Neil (52:08.176)
Hell yeah. Hell yeah.

Neil (52:27.866)
I mean, you're probably thinking I'm gonna say pizza, aren't you? No, that's false. It is not the best leftover food. Give me the leftover turkey from Thanksgiving. Boom! Put it in the fridge. You make turkey soup, you make turkey sandwiches, put the stuffing in there too. Give me the leftover stuffing. Give me the whole the whole damn dinner. Give me the entire Thanksgiving leftovers. Give me the mashed potatoes, the cranberry, the stuffing, the turkey. Put it all in the fridge. Wrap it up in some tin foil.

And I've got dinner for the next couple of days. Or lunch. But give me the most mainly though, give me the turkey.

Nick (53:02.719)
Look, and if you want us to argue, here's what makes that not a bad pick, is because it's once a year. It's once a year. Like that's why I know, but you're not you're not having it all the time. But you're not, and you I you did say Thanksgiving Turkey. That was in your selection. You said Thanksgiving Turkey. But I think that elevates it. That's what makes it special, is because you get this one week of the year. And that's it.

Neil (53:10.78)
I'll take leftover turkey anytime. Like if you wanna make a roasted turkey, you can do it at Christmas time, I'll do it.

Neil (53:19.236)
Okay. That's true.

Neil (53:30.822)
But if somebody wants to make a turkey dinner that's not on Thanksgiving and I got leftovers, I'm still eating it. I'll do it in April. I'll do it in May. I'll do it in June. I'll do it whenever you wanna make me a turkey dinner and there's leftovers, I'm still taking that over pizza.

Nick (53:44.875)
But it's not a special. It's not it's not the same. It's not the same.

Neil (53:46.884)
Doesn't to be special. Doesn't have to be turkey's turkey, my guy. You can cook a turkey on Thanksgiving. What's the difference between you cook a turkey on Thanksgiving and cook a turkey on June 4th? It's turkey in the oven.

Nick (53:52.084)
No

Nick (53:57.383)
One of them's a thank you one of them's a Thanksgiving turkey and the other one's just Rob the turkey. Like But it you admit it's a different feel. Like it's just a different feel. It has a different feel to it.

Neil (54:02.736)
What it's the same food! It's the same food!

It's not.

I don't think it just tastes better because of the day of the week, but or the day of the month or the year, whatever it is. and this adds a little extra s extra flavoring on there because the calendar says November twenty fourth instead of June fourth. Just the calendar, the calendar seasoning. This made up seasoning that you're putting on there. No.

Nick (54:16.542)
You sure about like I think it does.

Hell yeah!

Nick (54:24.852)
Yes.

Nick (54:30.142)
Yes. And then but if you if you agreed with yourself you wouldn't have said Thanksgiving Turkey. You just would have said Turkey. You're the one that said Thanksgiving Turkey. And now you're saying June fourth turkey is the same as Thanksgiving Turkey.

Neil (54:41.328)
Because that's when most people eat it. But I'm saying no, because that's because that's when most people will relate to it. But I'm just saying I will eat it any time of the year. But mainly Thanksgiving Turquoise, because that's when people eat it. I'm saying it's better on Thanksgiving. It's good all the entire year round. It doesn't make it better just because it's Thanksgiving. But that's just when most people can relate to it. Go ahead. What's your pick? What's your pick? Pikachu.

Nick (54:50.516)
But you are arguing against yourself. You are arguing against yourself.

Nick (54:58.012)
It it is better on Thanksgiving. It is.

It is better, actually.

I mean pizza's the clear answer for number one. Like you when you've got leftover pizza, you're excited about it. Throw it in the air fryer, throw it, eat it cold. You can eat it so many different ways.

Neil (55:16.476)
I'm not.

Neil (55:20.932)
I'm gonna say, I don't know if this is a hot take or not. I hate cold pizza. I think it's disgusting. The cheese is just gross. It's just gross.

Nick (55:28.714)
Now look if I you're telling me if I've got a chance to heat it up, am I gonna heat it up? Yes. But

Neil (55:35.036)
Sure, but people just open the fridge and just grab a cold slice of pizza are insane. They're psychos.

Nick (55:39.794)
I don't I prefer it warm, but I don't think it's disgusting code. I don't think it's disgusting code. Now I will say

Neil (55:43.098)
I hate it.

I bet you were one of those k you one of those kids that got pizza lunchables back in the day? I hate that honor. My wife loves that like cold ass pizza. Hell no.

Nick (55:50.056)
Hell no. No, we I didn't never get it no bunchable.

D you know how expensive those things were? You know how expensive lunchables were? We didn't get no lunchables.

Neil (55:59.163)
Whatever. But

Nick (56:03.342)
but one downfall about pizza is like when people come over your house and they see your fridge and they see you got pizza, they eat it without even calling you and asking you if it's okay.

Neil (56:14.394)
You had a bare piece of pizza on your fridge without even having anything wrapped up in it. It was just a slice of pizza on your shelf.

Nick (56:18.644)
But dude, I invite my sisters over and the kids for a little pool party a couple weeks ago. Buy a pizza for everybody. And then my sister's like, hey, can I come over the next day when I'm not home? Like, yeah, sure. I come back, go to eat my pizza the next Sunday morning or the Sunday afternoon. It's all gone. They just crushed it. I was like, you could at least text me and asked me. I would have said, okay, but you just ate it.

Neil (56:36.56)
Gone, gone, gone.

Neil (56:46.31)
Yeah. Okay. What's your next pick?

Nick (56:50.792)
Next pick, I I think you gotta go chili.

Neil (56:55.414)
it's good pick.

Nick (56:56.638)
Leftover chili? Like I feel like chili gets better. Chili gets better the more it sits in the fridge. It just like all the different spices like meld together. Even even better. But yeah.

Neil (57:07.856)
You get all the you get all the flavors of everything else in your fridge, like the mayonnaise flavor, you got the oregano, you got you got the what the eggs that are in in the door, the random condiments.

Nick (57:17.544)
And dude, I mean a lot of times I'm cooking for myself. So when I make chili, you're eating it all week. And that second, third, fourth time, you're like, all right, let's go. Now the fifth, sixth time, you're kind of like, all right, I'm a little chillied out. But yeah, I'm going chili with with with my second pick.

Neil (57:39.31)
I'm going I'm going something that you can eat cold. Fried chicken. You got fried chicken leftovers? You can just grab that out the fridge on a drumstick and you can just pop it right in the mouth. You could heat it up if you want to, but fried chicken is something you can eat cold and it's still delicious the next day. Fried chicken.

Nick (57:39.316)
So you got you got two picks in a row.

Nick (57:59.347)
Okay. I I that's another thing. Like I agree that it's okay code, but I would rather throw it in the air fryer for five minutes and heat it up. I just I think food is better more.

Neil (58:05.35)
Sure. Sure.

Neil (58:10.362)
Always. Yes, it always is. But if you're just like a little snack before bed, you know, y y you know, you're about to lay your head on the pillow and you're like, a little grumble in the tummy, just get a little pop a drumstick in, good to go.

Neil (58:26.936)
My last pick I'm gonna go I'ma go with a little dessert. I'm gonna go like a a leftover pie slash cobbler. Like a a something like that. That you can just pop in the microwave real quick, throw a scoop of ice cream on top of it, and you can eat that thing the whole week. Give me a little dessert. You gonna eat it cold? You can eat it cold if you want.

Nick (58:27.114)
What you got?

Nick (58:40.522)
Is it good in the microwave though?

Nick (58:45.854)
But like is the crust 'cause I'm not a big pie guy. Is is the crust good in the microwave?

Neil (58:50.094)
Yeah, it's fine. Yeah. Yeah. Heat up a nice slice of apple pie like that's been left over from could be any any a fourth of July or any kind of celebration. You know, give me a nice little leftover pie or cobbler, peach cobbler, throw it in the microwave. You're ready to go.

Nick (58:52.094)
Right.

Nick (59:02.9)
I'm very I'm very surprised about I'm very surprised about the c the the the pie selection. Re just was not expecting pie.

Neil (59:14.534)
Big big cobbler. Give me a peach cobbler. Peach pie.

Nick (59:15.848)
I've never I don't I'll be honest, I I've known you for how many years? We're getting close to almost twenty somehow. I've never seen you eat a pie piece of pie in my entire life. And you just picked it you picked it third overall for best leftover foods.

Neil (59:26.32)
Well, if juice is ever bra

Neil (59:30.768)
Well, you never come to like my no family dinner. Maybe get you over to a family dinner. He gets you to a family dinner. But that's false. You know, our guy Juice. Juice is always the dessert guy at our friend gatherings. If he brings a pie, I'm getting a slice.

Nick (59:32.538)
I've never seen you eat a pizza pie.

Nick (59:45.384)
Okay, well you've you made my I thought you were gonna take my answer. Tacos.

Neil (59:52.294)
No! Tacos! Tacos? The hell's wrong with you?

Nick (59:53.567)
Yes.

Hell yeah. When you're making yourself and you just got a bunch of taco meat?

Neil (01:00:00.999)
Hold on. No, no, no, no, that's different. That's different. Is it taco meat or tacos? Like you putting a hard cell taco in the fridge, you putting a soft cell taco in the fridge.

Nick (01:00:04.596)
That's

Nick (01:00:09.78)
No, I d you don't when I make tacos at home, I've got a big thing of meat and then I've got shelves. And when I heat up the meat I put them in the shell. I don't pre-make every taco.

Neil (01:00:18.31)
That's taco meat. No, that's just taco meat. That's taco meat. Like if you go to a restaurant, no that's not left.

Nick (01:00:21.962)
And they're great leftover. And it's fantastic leftover. You can if you got lettuce, you can put on a salad. You can put it in a flour tortilla. You can put it in a hard shell tortilla. T leftover taco Fine, do I have to say leftover taco meat?

Neil (01:00:30.01)
So you're you're you're but you didn't no, you're saying meat. Yeah, because let's say you go to the Mexican restaurant down the street, you get about four tacos, right? And you're like, ooh, I'm full after two, two tacos or three tacos. I'm gonna take this taco home. Put it in the taco box, you take it home, you slide it the fridge. Could be a soft shell, hard shell, you're you're not taking the meat out of that taco. Like it's already been put together. So if you get a a tago taco from a restaurant, it's going in your fridge and it's gonna get cold and you're eating the shell cold.

Or if you heat it up, it's still gonna be gross. Or if you heat it up, it's still gonna be gross. A mushy A mushy flower torch

Nick (01:00:59.892)
Eating the shellcoat.

It is flower tortilla you can eat a flower tortilla, you can reheat a flower tortilla taco.

Neil (01:01:08.784)
Be all no man, it's gonna be all mushy and stuff. Mm mm. Gross. No, it should be gr mushy and soggy and hell no. Hell. Taco meat I'll give you. Taco's terrible answer.

Nick (01:01:11.674)
If you've never done that, they're fine. Like you can't do hard shell tacos.

But but y but yes, tacos is the is the answer.

It's not as bad as pie. You said pie. You said pie. What are some honorable mention tanks that are good leftover? That didn't make the big three or the small three. I

Neil (01:01:26.876)
Everybody loves by.

Neil (01:01:39.002)
Yeah, you probably a Christmas ham or something.

Nick (01:01:42.558)
What about spaghetti?

Neil (01:01:44.572)
Ooh, that's that's that's dicey. That's dicey.

Nick (01:01:48.02)
Like I do like leftover spaghetti, but sometimes the noodles get that little slime on them when you cook in the microwave.

Neil (01:01:53.245)
Yeah. I mean like a soup like I I'm I'm gonna put soup in the same category as chili. Yeah, soup would be in the same category as chili. Mm. Yeah.

Nick (01:01:55.75)
Any kind of suit, any kind of suit.

Nick (01:02:03.166)
Mac and cheese?

Mac and cheese is good leftover.

Neil (01:02:06.362)
Big Mac and Cheese left not a big mac and cheese leftover guy.

Like hot dogs. You you heat up a hot dog.

Nick (01:02:11.988)
Wait.

So I you can and they're fine. But when you have people over your house and you do a grill out and there's just a million burgers and dogs just sitting out there for hours, those things are in the garbage. Like I am not taking I'm not I'm not even taking a chance. Now look, if it's just me and I've got d dogs and I'm grilling just for myself and I know that they didn't sit out forever.

Neil (01:02:27.356)
Yeah.

I mean they get dried out. Like you try to reheat up, they get they get dried out and it's it's not good. They're not juicy anymore. Yeah, it's it's it's

Nick (01:02:43.016)
It'll be fine, but I'm not gonna get excited about eating that leftover hot dog. Like I would pizza or chili or tacos.

Neil (01:02:49.03)
Yeah, yeah. Yeah.

Nick (01:02:53.384)
I just the pie answer just kinda boggled my mind there a little bit.

Neil (01:03:00.696)
Yeah,

Nick (01:03:03.85)
Before we get off, I guess the Bengals started camp today. It was a lot of things happening. Jamar Chase fighting DJ Turner, Shamar Stewart, leg broken half, it looked like.

Neil (01:03:07.74)
It was an eventful day. An eventful day of camp.

Neil (01:03:16.218)
Yeah.

Nick (01:03:17.748)
They they asked Joe Burrow about the intensity. Like, does he like seeing them get you you go ahead and tell the people what he said.

Neil (01:03:21.828)
I loved his quote.

Neil (01:03:26.64)
He said he likes the intensity to a certain extent. If it disrupts practice, then that's not a good thing. But if you can punch a guy in the face and get back and lined up in fifteen or twenty seconds, then he's good with it.

Nick (01:03:41.418)
What the the the thing that people have held against them in in training camp is the fact that they're too relaxed in the past. I don't think it's happening right now. And I think this team feels the pressure to win.

Neil (01:03:42.992)
Twice the gun.

Nick (01:03:59.525)
And I mean I don't want people getting hurt and you protect the merchandise. Like you don't go hurt Jamar Chase. You don't go hurt Joe Burrow. You don't go hurt T. Higgins. Like, let's be smart about it. But I like the tenacity a little bit. I kinda do.

Neil (01:04:14.48)
Yeah. I like the battles that are going on and Ted Karras and sexy Dexie getting into it. Like not getting into it, but jawing at each other. You know. I like it. I like it. They're challenging each other. I like that they're challenging each other.

Nick (01:04:28.698)
And dude, Joe is just like when you're trying to throw over a six seven guy, it's just different. It's just different. And Dexter Lawrence is six seven and just a monster. So I don't know. I'm excited. We'll we'll get into a full NFL preview here in a couple weeks. We are gonna do one more show before we take a couple weeks off.

To wrap up season one, it's it's crazy that this is episode fifty-three. We will get through episode fifty-four. We will recap the dandy next week, go go over some other stuff, but then we will. I'm gonna work on like a greatest hits kind of thing. I don't know how long it's gonna be, but some of the some of the better segments from year one where we actually do argue because we have heard your criticism. And we do know that we were at the bars and we are drinking, we argue all the time.

And we don't tend to do that as much here sometimes. So maybe that criticism is warranted because people in our real life do see it. And maybe we should not. I don't I don't want to fake it. I don't want to be the show where you pick a side and you gotta argue for it no matter what. Now I pick a side and I gotta argue, but I want it to be a genuine argument. I think the fake the fake argument shows annoy me, and I don't want to be that. But I do think we can find some ways to where we argue a little more.

Neil (01:05:48.667)
Yeah.

Neil (01:05:52.934)
Correct.

Nick (01:05:57.637)
maybe we need a new intro song for season two. Maybe that's something would they give it to me. Maybe we move on from that. But

Neil (01:06:05.892)
Each, yeah, yeah.

Nick (01:06:08.99)
We we will take we we are listening to what our or five or six or seven listeners have to say.

Neil (01:06:15.612)
Sec for those listeners that are losers that think we don't know horse, we know horse. We know horse.

Nick (01:06:21.746)
And d w also like we gotta give a shout to some of the our our biggest listeners in year one. Because it's it's hard to build this thing up. Like this market is so saturated with podcasts, like everybody has a mic, everybody thinks they can have a podcast. We're doing it, so pretty much anybody has the ability to do it. But like people like Jeff Cowan and Don Kohler and Joe Ziggler. I mean who who else is

Neil (01:06:45.424)
Yeah. Joe Ziggler.

Nick (01:06:50.218)
Pretty much listen to every single episode.

Neil (01:06:52.346)
That schmuck that always cusses us out for every horse racing video.

Nick (01:06:55.688)
Yeah, yeah, but dude, we appreciate that. And

Neil (01:06:57.5)
I love that guy. I do love that guy.

Nick (01:07:00.346)
I I am going to work on potentially getting like some height differential koozies for season two. Maybe some height differential t shirts. Yeah. Some height differential t shirts. So trying to up our game a little bit in season two. When we started this thing, I said most podcasts stop after three episodes. We're on episode fifty three. We're gonna do episode fifty four next week.

Neil (01:07:07.995)
pass them out Bengals tailgates? Pass out of the Bengals tailgates.

Nick (01:07:27.178)
We're gonna take a couple weeks off and then we're gonna come back for season two, episode one. And by when we do that, it's gonna be time for some football. And I don't know about you, but I'm ready to talk some college in NFL.

Neil (01:07:37.19)
Same, same.

Nick (01:07:40.488)
What else you got? Anything else before we get out of here? I you gotta eat.

Neil (01:07:43.502)
Nope. I'll see you on the golf course tomorrow morning, my friend.

Nick (01:07:47.198)
You beat me on Monday. You gonna make it two in a row?

Neil (01:07:50.192)
The back's feeling better, so I hope so. Yeah. It was it was touch and go there on the first couple of holes, but you know, some medication and some cold blood lights and coors lights kinda loosened it up a little bit. So we're good to go for tomorrow.

Nick (01:07:52.572)
I was worried about you after the first swing.

Nick (01:08:02.526)
Yeah, they do the trick. Maybe I I just God, I was a bad I and I feel like I never putt well at Neville Mead for some reason. Like I don't know if I have a hard time reading the green or I just suck, but I could not put on Monday. It was awful.

Neil (01:08:18.352)
Neither could I.

Nick (01:08:19.794)
Yeah. But you weren't as bad as me. I I think I missed five five footers. But Yeah, 'cause he got my damn head. But go get some grub. For the six six nil. I'm the four ten Nick. You've been listening to Hyde Dev Virtual. We'll be back for episode fifty-four next week. We'll talk to you then. Yup!
